My mom and I LOVED our stay here! We booked the treehouse for a weekend to relax and hike the local state parks. The cabin exceeded our every expectation in design, space, and amenities. The front porch/balcony was the perfect place to read, watch the sunrise, and enjoy the birds. The "backyard" had a gorgeous view of the hills and had a picnic table, campfire, and bbq to make dinner and s'mores watch the sunset. The cabin itself was stocked with everything you need from kitchen utensils to coffee to extra blankets. Also, the living room had tons of entertainment like board games, movies, and books. Our favorite part of every night was reading and talking in front of the fireplace. The bed was massive and comfortable with cedar walls that made the room smell so cozy. Outside, there was a small clearing where we laid and star gazed, and one night a deer ran by us! Even the road to get to this place was absolutely stunning. My only suggestions would be better lighting in the bedroom, a bigger bathroom mirror, and curtains or blinds on the front windows. But I would definitely return here--we felt safe and it was wonderful in every way. read more

The Lodges at Lost Maples are tucked away off ranch road 337. Part of the fun is the drive here; full of twisty roads, curves with views of rolling hills, and uphills so steep you have to drop your car into low gear. Great fun if you are into that sorta thing. One of the most beautiful drives in the lone star state. Motorcyclists populate the highway, so use caution but enjoy the drive... Now the lodges: made out of cinderblock with touches of local wood. Inside there are large kitchens with microwave, full size fridge, and stove. The cabin is one large room with wood floors, not separate areas. A futon that folds out into a bed is in the living room, directly behind that is a queen sized bed. Close to the dining table in the kitchen are the twin sized bunk beds basically in a nook off the wall. A bathroom with a stand up shower is off the kitchen (if you have a baby bring the portable tub). The back patio was great with a bed, benches, and adirondack chairs. Off the deck in the yard area was a patio table with umbrella and a charcoal burning grill. So, even though we had a large group in one cabin, we still felt like we had plenty of space. The owners of the cabin were extremely friendly and brought us a breakfast of homemade blueberry muffins, pecan bread, fresh squeezed orange juice and seasonal fruit. The lodges are in perfect proximity to Lost Maples state park, but away from all of the road noise. This is a place for those that like a hidden, cozy feeling, but still need more ammenities than camping(i.e. air conditioning!). My family will definitely be staying here again. Oh...make sure to stop at the store and load up on what you need...the closest full size grocery I believe is in Utopia about 20 miles away. read more

It does the soul good to "unplug". To stop tweeting. To put down the phone and look around and this wonderful world we live in. One day and night at the Lodges at Lost Maples will help you do just that. My wife and I booked the "Treehouse Cabin", a 2-story structure of cinder block and pine...I'd call it modern rustic. The lower level was being renovated so we stayed in the 500 sq foot upper level. It had an open concept kitchen/living space with a separate bed and bath. I have to say, the cabin was absolutely spotless. Great care was given to preparing our cabin. The floors were gorgeous wood planks and the ceiling was made of reclaimed roofing tin (complete with patina and rust). The bathroom had nice little touches, like the sink counter was trimmed with a water tank depth gauge (like a cubed yard stick). The cabin was either recently built or meticulously maintained. The kitchen had everything we needed: a drawer full of utensils (including wine bottle opener, knives, etc), pots and pans, a coffee maker (with filters and ground coffee), a stove/range, a microwave and a full fridge. Stock up on groceries before you arrive...the closest full grocery store is "a ways away." There was a nice charcoal grill outside, that we didn't use. Not too far away from that was an excellent rope hammoc, which we made extensive use of. It was so quiet and beautiful there. No cell phone reception, no phone in the cabin, no text notifications...a perfect getaway. We were greeted by the owner's two very friendly dogs while we were on a walk. The dog were super sweet, but we were warned through a "welcome binder" in the cabin not to give them treats, "no matter how convincing they are." That made us chuckle. One of the owners came by to check on us early in the evening and was very friendly. We only stayed overnight, but were very pleased with the experience and will likely go back again. We came with and expectation of just a getaway, but what we found was much more. We have been to several places, but the relaxation and simplicity of life that we experienced here was amazing. From the time we walked in time stood still and all the distractions from day to day were gone. Warm baked goods made a great start to each day and star gazing at night was a great end. My husband and I stayed one night in the treehouse cabin and it was wonderful! After a fun day of discovering new towns and beautiful drives we arrived at the cabin about 7 pm, we opened our wine (cabin has a cork screw) and hit the balcony where we watched far off lightning and enjoyed complete silence. What a gorgeous and seriously relaxing place. You can feel the stress of the daily grind literally roll off of you in this setting! Comfy bed, hot shower and ultra clean space! Way better than camping! We will definitely be back to this cabin. read more

What a relaxing getaway. The Lodges are nestled in a peaceful nook in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. The cabins are charming, cozy and very comfortable. The Treehouse was our choice and we enjoyed many hours sitting, rocking and relaxing on the porch, just listening to the sounds of the birds and wind in the trees. We were even treated to the sound of a soft rain falling on the tin roof one night. Great breakfasts delivered each morning by Jeralyn and a visit from Remy her dog made us feel right at home. Loved it! The cabins are smack dab in the middle of the Hill Country. Each one is spaced and situated just right so that you have plenty of privacy. We went as a family, with two young kids - but this would be a great place for anybody who enjoys simplicity and basic comfort. There was plenty of room for them to wander and run and we had frequent visits from the local wildlife (and pet life). The breakfast elf even brought us freshly baked yummies every morning - what a treat! There was plenty to do to keep the kids busy, all within a short drive through beautiful scenery. A birthday weekend had been planned for Dec 5-7 since the end of September 2014! Unfortunately, my dad had a heart attack the Wednesday before the weekend of our stay and was transported by ambulance to the hospital. My family had to travel out of state to be with him during that time. So on top of travel expenses, hotel arrangements to stay close to the Coronary Intensive Care Unit, and the constant worry of his well being right at the Christmas holidays we were also out $400 for the cabin we never got to stay in. After multiple conversations with Jeralyn, a refund did not seem reasonable in her opinion. I realize policies need to be in play for people that book then do not show due to non emergency situations but those of us that are true to our word and need the money to help cover emergency financial burdens it seems an injustice.
