It is peaceful and serene and the moment your feet hit the coolness of the Frio River in this secluded watering hole, you are transformed into a place that is truly magical. It would sleep three comfortably with a little person in the upper berth. The accommodations were not fancy like at a bed and breakfast...but the real treat is the location. Our caboose deck was practically ON the water. Take a look at the photos to see. Note...this is not the Holiday Inn. You will see the occasional spider. You are in the country. Would you like to go tubing down the Medina River...you're set! How about some paddle boating or canoing on the lake? Maybe some swimming. Would you rather take your camera out at sunset and photograph about 70 axis deer eating dinner? You can check all these off your trip itinerary without leaving the grounds. And while it's called a ranch, they do not have horseback riding on site. They have goats, but I do not suggest riding them. The folks at Muller's Ark can hook you up with some wranglers. It costs less than going to a dude ranch...dude--$80 to $120 a night as compared to about $200 per person per night at some of the dude ranches I priced. We saw deer, armadillos, alligator gar (in the water), bunnies, cats, dogs, goats, peacocks, etc... We did go tubing. We floated on the river through the other guest ranches visiting with other folks for about 2 hours. We had to hoof it a little because my daughter saw a harmless green snake and FREAKED out in her usual fashion. But other than that...which I can't really blame on Muller's Ark--the trip was great.

I stayed in a trailer known as Mobile 2, which is HUGE. I also came with both my German Shepherds and that wasn't a problem, so long as they stay away from the sheep (my older boy used to go to herding classes). Like the previous poster Dena stated, this isn't the Holiday Inn. I didn't find spiders, but a bird nesting on my patio. It's cool to see deer come up to your trailer, along with several jackasses and sheep. I will definitely come back here in the future.

They had great amenities- basketball court, pickle ball, pool, playground etc! We will be coming back for sure, especially in the summer to take advantage of the water fun!

This photo says it all. Bathroom/showers scheduled for remodel, but they are clean and tidy. Laundry room is also neat as a pin. Cabins were being re-roofed during our stay. The sites are wide, level gravel and each has a big charcoal grill and picnic table. Half the sites are pull-thru, half are back-in. There is no television signal in the valley, but there is Dish equipment you can get from the office at no charge. Highly recommend it. Towing on Cty Rd 348...I would recommend only doing it from 83, which is kind of a wheel-gripper itself. 348 coming from 127 in Concan would be a nightmare. Once you're unhooked and settled in, take a drive across the river on 348 and you'll see what I mean. You'll love this park, and you'll love the owners. Don't forget to buy some corn for the deer and Rio Grande turkeys when you visit the office!

With tubes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, lilly pads, hammocks, and an overwhelming amount of space to explore, they'll be off and running as soon as you pull up! The manager, Veronica, is an absolute gem. She helped us with so many things from getting extra linens to giving us ideas for places to eat, since we were there during off peak times and early in the week. The spot that they are on in the river is absolutely stunning. The cabin we were in was peaceful and quiet. It was also just a short walk to have a beautiful view over the river and if you took a different path you could easily hop in. The back porch of the cabin was serene with bird feeders and even a humming bird feeder! There is a fire pit and a bbq pit if you feel like doing your own cooking. The cabin has all the necessary things for you to do your cooking for the entire time. I will say, prepare to be in the shower a touch longer, as the water pressure was somewhat low, but man...when water pressure is your single complaint, you know you're in heaven!!! I highly recommend this place and we will for sure stay here again. It's also reasonably priced. I advise if you're not trying to accommodate a summer schedule to go during the off season to enjoy a few less people.

The pictures online are a misrepresentation of what you're going to get, so don't be fooled. I think they took a picture of their best looking unit (I saw one with a cute Western vibe) and use it to trick everyone into booking there. When there's only 1 photo, I guess that should raise a red flag. Honestly, what they're doing seems illegal to me. We were visiting Lost Maples and got a Studio room for 1 night. I'm pretty sure we stayed in room 125 and it was the only room available, despite it being the off-season (we did try to switch rooms after seeing it). The theme of the room we got must have been Wal-Mart 1982. Now, if you don't care about the pillows being pancakes on a rickety bed, the shower only being suitable for an 8-year-old, using Dollar Tree towels, linens, and a miniature toilet, plus people being able to see you undressing and doing whatever else through the busted mini blinds (no curtains here), then this place might meet your expectations. All for the low, low price of $90/night. At that price, I would expect something at least on par with Motel 6. Unfortunately, our expectations were set too high on this one. It's a shame too because the grounds are pretty decent. There's a small clubhouse area overlooking the lake, but there was already a family in there, so we didn't use that space. It was fall, so we tried to enjoy our evening drinking wine out by a fire pit. There are several of them and plenty of wood, so you can light your own and enjoy a night by the water. Bring your own lighter or matches....and corkscrew....wine glasses....hell, just stay home. In the summer, it looks like you can enjoy swimming, canoeing, and kayaking too. With a decent room owned by someone who actually cares about providing suitable accommodations for guests, you could probably be comfortable here. I'm not sure how you'd vet the room though...good luck! We're not playing Russian Roulette with our sleeping rooms anymore though, so we won't be back. Funny thing...there were some comment cards left in the nightstand, presumably from previous guests, boasting about how great the place was and how they loved their stay. What??? My brain is still hurting trying to figure that out. Where did those people stay? It wasn't here. I should have taken some pictures, but I forgot.
