There is good and bad about the Lone Painter. The good... He's FAST, really fast. The bad? He's FAST, really fast! He DOES NOT CARE about the condition of your cabinets. If your cabinets are scratched, dented, you will end up with scratched and dented cabinets, WITH NEW PAINT! He DOES NOT CARE about quality. All he cares about is whipping through your job and on to the next. There's more! I bought brand new MDF cabinet doors for my bathroom with rough edges. Do you think he smoothed out the edges prior to painting? Look at the photo!!! Again, He DOES NOT CARE about a quality job! He must have looked at them and thought "this is really crappy... Oh well". The trim in my kitchen: The ENTIRE KITCHEN has wood-stained trim that I installed 10 years ago... He PAINTED THEM!!!!! What? Now *I* have to rip them out and purchase NEW TRIM and replace them, because the Lone Painter can't make an intelligent association on whether to paint, or NOT paint the cabinet floor trim. Seriously, LOOK AT THE PHOTOS! So, if you want a FAST job, and don't care about quality... Maybe you're flipping a 4-plex for the next renter... Sure, call the Lone Painter... But If you want your cabinet doors to be "restored"... Forget it, find a reputable contractor. read more

Eric did a terrible job painting our cabinets. Looks like he did one coat of primer and one coat of paint. Paint can says it covers 350 to 450 sq feet. Our job is 1300 square feet with two coats. He bought 3 cans and returned one half full. He used 2 1/2 cans on a job the requires 4. The paint is so thin in areas you can still see the wood. You can tell that the cabinets were not sanded between the primer and finish coat with the speckles and raised imperfections on the doors. Looks like a lazy rushed job that needs to be done again. read more

I saw this guy's ad on Craigslist. He came to our house and looked over what paint work we needed done. He acted interested and said that would email a bid. We never heard from him. He doesn't answer the phone and his mail box is always full. If this guy had any class at all he could have said that he was not interested. He probably wasn't qualified read more

We went back and forth on what we wanted to do with our 1989 kitchen. Eirik gave us a tentative estimate based on emailed pictures and then came out to give us an actual estimate. We couldn't be happier with the job he did on our existing cabinets and the very fair price he charged. As an added bonus, he's a very nice person to work with. :) P.S. I bought the cabinet handles at Lowes. When I was there, the sales guy asked me how much I was being charged to have this work done. They painted our whole house... and also I had them refinish our dark cabinets in the kitchen and 2 bathrooms.... Our cabinets are only 2 years old, yet we really didn't like how dark it felt... so they painted our cabinets white. Wow, what a difference it makes!! So light and bright.... It took several days and I am going to attach pictures of Before (dark cabinets) and the process, where the doors were taken off and sprayed at a different location (shop) and how everything was taped off and then sprayed the remainder of the cabinet parts on site... and then After (white cabinets) and the last picture when we also changed the sinks, counters, faucets and lights in the same bathroom... I highly recommend The Lone Painter company to ANYBODY... I have already referred them to many of my friends and several realtors that we have been working with in the past!!! This is Brian again replying to Eric's ridiculous reply to my original review. That was the first review I have ever written. Your work was so terrible I wanted people to know. We have had another painter come in and repaint all the cabinets. They look great now after they were sanded and sprayed with the correct amount of paint. I know how much paint you purchased because we talked about it and know what was returned. The second painters used 4 gallons almost twice what was used on your half-assed work. I never said anything positive about the work you were doing and when I saw the doors come in I never spoke to you again because they were awful and I new you were a fraud. We put all your equipment on the front porch that night and never let you back in the house. We paid you to be done with you. I put up the rest of the doors myself. Your comments about my wife are not even worth addressing. read more

Eric did a great job painting the inside of our house. We have crown molding in every room so it was not an easy task. He took good care protecting our hardwood floors and furniture. I felt very comfortable leaving him the key to enter the house and paint while we were at work. read more

I can't say enough about Erick. It only took 3.5 days for him to completely disassemble and reassemble my kitchen and paint my outdated cabinets as well put all the knobs and handles on. I love it. I hired Eirik Stockstad, The Lone Painter, to paint the interior of my home as well as refinish my spiral staircase and kitchen cabinets. It was a three week nightmare of horrible workmanship, Eirik's emotional outbursts of leaving the house whenever I raised areas of concern, and finally culminated with him stealing my kitchen cabinet doors ( Not kidding: Police Case # 17-14582, Federal Way). I have filed a complaint with the BBB and have retained an attorney in order to pursue getting reimbursed for the cabinet doors I am currently getting replaced. I initially felt that Eirik had too many projects going on, since he did not come every day and on some days he only stayed a couple hours. But as the project continued and his horrible workmanship presented itself, he became more defensive and finally refused to correct any of the issues and abandoned the project while also taking my property. He has had multiple opportunities to return my stolen property, but to date he has not. I would avoid this painter at all costs. read more
