    Drinks!

I visited the Lookout on a Monday with a friend for an event being hosted at the space. This was the first time I've had the opportunity to visit the new Pier 17 since it's construction and I couldn't have had a better experience! The layout is great, service is on point, and the views were memorable. All in all, this made for a five star experience in almost every aspect. We arrived around 3 in the afternoon on a wet day in the city. The Lookout is located towards the back of Pier 17. When you enter you walk through a corridor into the space which turns into a large open air area with a bar on the left and a HUGE space on the right that has tons of chairs and tables. The space also neighbors the waterfront and gives you unobstructed views of Brooklyn across the river. We sat at one of the chairs and were served by a waitress almost immediately. When it came time to order I went with the classic Paloma ($16) while my friend ordered the Summer Punch ($16). These were definitely more on the stronger side and it felt like we got our money's worth with these drinks. I'd definitely recommend. Service here was really great. From the table service to the expediency at the bar, we never had an issue with waiting long periods of time for our orders. The staff was also knowledgeable and didn't mind giving us recommendations based on what we like. Overall a great place to hang with friends, go on a fun date, or just enjoy the views from across the river. I'd totally suggest this spot if you're in FiDi and don't mind making the trek towards the water.

Can't give any kind of in depth review of this brand new place. Wifey and I were the first patrons ever to order a drink here minutes before heading up to the roof for a concert. You will pay for the view ($18 Grey Goose Martini) and you'll get in a plastic cup and not particularly cold either. But it is a beautiful outdoor spot that stares across the East River to Brooklyn at the ever trendy touristy South Street Seaport. Maybe next trip they'll have opened the boxes with the actual glasses in them and taught the bartenders how to shake the vodka cold. One can only dream...

Bumped on this lovely bar almost by error, and got really impressed by their cocktail and bites! Me and my friend were seated right away around 7:30. We order two of their signature cocktails and they were both delicious! It's not so easy to get a good mojito anymore. Mine way just perfect. We also ordered three tacos and devil eggs, and wow! Tacos were tasty and super filled (not the usual literally one bite of meat, or spoon of something), and the devil eggs were really good, with crunchy pieces of prosciutto on top. The seated area is comfy, it's not too loud, you have a good view of Brooklyn Heights, and the service was perfect. The only sad note is that apparently the bar is temporary, until the fall. It might close at some point in October as Pier 17 is still renovating and opening a more close indoor bar. Catch it until you can! I will be sure to stop by again.

The service and drinks were great. They added cute little garnishes and payed special attention to our party. (But I'd think so seeing as we were the only ones in there for some reason) We were so surprised by how quiet it was, but got lucky because they let us bring in some burgers, because the kitchen was closed! We enjoyed the drinks and the vibe in there. Big thanks to the staff for staying a little later tonight to let us enjoy our time with our out of town family!! Thankyou all!

Very limited menu. Beef taco were okay- we didn't like the corn shell. The guacamole was good. Corn was okay too. Drinks were horrible. Ordered a mojito and it didn't taste anything like it. It didn't even have one mint leaf. Overall okay place to get some apps before dinner. Nice view at night from the restaurant but the menu is lacking.

Great views but pricey options make this a nice spot for a few drinks but not much else. The design is very nice, beautiful tables and chairs. Very casual. Drinks and food are pricey ($7 for a 3 inch ice pop). They have a few game options (cards against humanity and uno). But the real draw is the views. Right on the pier by the Brooklyn bridge. Beautiful. It's worth checking out for a few drinks around sunset.

Great small after work spot for a quick drink and bite. They have $5 rose for the month of July. The tacos are 3 for $16 and you can choose from Pork, beef or vegetarian, there's no fish sorry. But service was very good and kind. Not stush Nor Stiff. Sort of hidden entrance. Bar has mostly top shelf liquor. Prices range between $14 and up.

After a nice stop and a secret garden in west Greenwich, I decided to use the points I had racked up and suggested a beverage at the Spaniard. It was agreed upon, in part as i suggested "they probably have a nice bathroom". Of which they did. It helped they had a nice house drink menu too. My gal found something she would like, and she did. After a fun drink off their menu I got a scotch. Old Putney 12 year. Actually the bartender came up and said they were out, would I want a 18 year or 20 year, something like that. it was a bit more money but it was he last beverage of the weekend trip so I got it. My Lourd it was good. If we had time I would have gotten an Oban they had, but we were off. But we will be back, maybe this year. And if I have racked up enough points in the area, I will suggest this excellent whisky bar.

Walking through the cold streets, I stumbled upon The Spaniard which has quickly become one of my favorite NY destinations! We were there for a quick 30 hour trip to experience the "Holiday Magic". After a long day of travel, we just needed something good. We arrived and they accommodated us in a back booth tucked behind the bar, perfect! Our waiter was a delight and very responsive. The martini was kick-ass and our waiter was kind enough to offer us many recommendations. We landed on Charbroiled Oysters, Steak Tartare, and French Onion Dip. Someone slap me, I'm drooling while I write this review over a year later. Seriously, phenomenal. Every bite was amazing! We cleared the table and manged a few cocktails during our time with The Spaniard. If you are ever in the West Village, stop by, you won't be sorry! Thanks me later, actually!

As for food, there were some true hits but most of the food was good but basic. The highlights for me were the wild mushrooms & rice cakes as well as the Caesar salad - loved the use of nori in the salad and would definitely come back for the mushrooms. The chicken cutlet and chicken dumplings were fine but I probably wouldn't order them again. The wait staff weren't super attentive nor super warm, but they were efficient when we asked for water refills, etc. There was ample standing room at the bar while we waited for our friends, but the table/booth that we sat at was super narrow, I was knocking knees with my friend all night and generally felt squished.
