Such a Great informal spot tucked under the Pier 17 venue and right next to Jean Georges. It's an unassuming and very beach tropics vibe. It's a Mexican taco restaurant and bar/lounge -so out of place really in this huge magnificent New York City skyline sparkling environment but also welcome. We were going to see Lafourcade and the lines were ridiculous so we popped in and the sweet hostess told us there were spots at the high tops near the bar. Daniel the waiter was super nice and helpful trying to get us to find the bathrooms which we finally did! Tacos were ok, they were filled with brisket and kinda tasteless. Plastic cops for beer... ugh. Chips with guacamole aren't corn.... But it has so much potential. Love the decor that was perfect for a night with Natalia. Downside: the too-cool-for-you bartender and the lack of WCs instead find the porta potty at the moment when you need it most. read more

This new spot overseeing the East River by South Street Seaport is beautiful! For those familiar with the area, the new makeover (which is not 100% done) is gorg! They have added these chic restaurants which great decor and view. Stopped in for a drink on a Friday. The crowd was decent, the hostess seated us immediately. Theres more then enough space and 2 separate entrance with hostess at each for flexibility. The bar area is located towards the back/middle. The seating has these woven basket looks with throw pillows all around. Super high ceiling....clearly I was very into the decor at this spot haha! Me and a friend ordered 2 Palomas as per the waiter suggestion and they were delish. I would like to go back and try some of the small plates, but I def would recommend this spot for a chill out on a date or friends. Great ambiance and vibes. read more

I visited the Lookout on a Monday with a friend for an event being hosted at the space. This was the first time I've had the opportunity to visit the new Pier 17 since it's construction and I couldn't have had a better experience! The layout is great, service is on point, and the views were memorable. All in all, this made for a five star experience in almost every aspect. We arrived around 3 in the afternoon on a wet day in the city. The Lookout is located towards the back of Pier 17. When you enter you walk through a corridor into the space which turns into a large open air area with a bar on the left and a HUGE space on the right that has tons of chairs and tables. The space also neighbors the waterfront and gives you unobstructed views of Brooklyn across the river. We sat at one of the chairs and were served by a waitress almost immediately. When it came time to order I went with the classic Paloma ($16) while my friend ordered the Summer Punch ($16). These were definitely more on the stronger side and it felt like we got our money's worth with these drinks. I'd definitely recommend. Service here was really great. From the table service to the expediency at the bar, we never had an issue with waiting long periods of time for our orders. The staff was also knowledgeable and didn't mind giving us recommendations based on what we like. Overall a great place to hang with friends, go on a fun date, or just enjoy the views from across the river. I'd totally suggest this spot if you're in FiDi and don't mind making the trek towards the water. read more

Can't give any kind of in depth review of this brand new place. Wifey and I were the first patrons ever to order a drink here minutes before heading up to the roof for a concert. You will pay for the view ($18 Grey Goose Martini) and you'll get in a plastic cup and not particularly cold either. But it is a beautiful outdoor spot that stares across the East River to Brooklyn at the ever trendy touristy South Street Seaport. Maybe next trip they'll have opened the boxes with the actual glasses in them and taught the bartenders how to shake the vodka cold. One can only dream... read more

Bumped on this lovely bar almost by error, and got really impressed by their cocktail and bites! Me and my friend were seated right away around 7:30. We order two of their signature cocktails and they were both delicious! It's not so easy to get a good mojito anymore. Mine way just perfect. We also ordered three tacos and devil eggs, and wow! Tacos were tasty and super filled (not the usual literally one bite of meat, or spoon of something), and the devil eggs were really good, with crunchy pieces of prosciutto on top. The seated area is comfy, it's not too loud, you have a good view of Brooklyn Heights, and the service was perfect. The only sad note is that apparently the bar is temporary, until the fall. It might close at some point in October as Pier 17 is still renovating and opening a more close indoor bar. Catch it until you can! I will be sure to stop by again. read more

Nice view. That's about it. Came here for cocktails. We went there on a Thursday night and it was really dead - only a few tables with guests. That was the first red flag. We waited to get sat and some dude told us to sit anywhere. We sat and waited a good 5 minutes before the dude came over to give us menus. The cocktail "menu" had 8 drinks. Yes. 8. And they were around $15-$17 each for well-level, low quality alcohol and poor-choice mixers. Seriously, anyone who thinks that mixing bourbon and Red Bull with passion fruit juice is a good idea deserves a special place in hell. Anyways, seeing as the drinks being offered were low quality and meant for "baby's first bar", we were skeptical about staying. The dude never returned to take our order anyway so that was our cue to leave. Thank you dude - thank you for not caring about your job enough to serve me so I could head down the street to the Dead Rabbit to get a proper, high-quality cocktail for the same amount of money and with much better service. Outdoor bar with nice views of the east river. I had a beer while my fiancée had a mojito. The drinks were pricey but that is expected in Manhattan at bars with nice views like this one. They have some communal seating, bar seating, and a bunch of outdoor furniture to lounge in. The bar was packed but we were fortunate to find a waitress to take our orders and expedite them for us. The bar didn't have an exclusive bathroom. There is a shared restroom with the Heineken bar that's out on the patio. read more

We stumbled upon this place after leaving brunch next door at Malibu Farm on Saturday and SO SO happy that we did. I think this is a just a pop up bar for the summer, so it may be leaving shortly, although I hope it stays because it was so cool. Not only did they mess up my expensive, extra cheese burger twice, my two drinks were a sugary, lemony, vinegary, watered down mess with very little alcohol and served almost one hour apart. It's a really really beautiful place, nice set up, and welcoming environment to meet up with friends after work. Their menu is very limited. I have only tried cheese board, hummus, and sandwiches. Those are mediocre items and can easily get from a deli. Their drinks are good, but not great like other places. The only happy hours they have is $5 rose which in plastic cups. I don't have many good things to say about this pop-up. The ambiance is nice and the live music is good. I came Thursday afternoon with several co-workers. The drinks are very overpriced which is a given for the location. However, a coworker ordered a Jameson on the rocks and when the bar didn't have it, they served him an alternative without checking with him first and still charged us for it. Tip for the staff - at least check with person first before selecting a new drink for them. The staff serving us were just ok. Didn't pay much attention to our table. The hostess just seemed like she was annoyed at life and didn't want to be there. Overall, not a great experience and I probably won't be returning. Just avoid this place after a concert. They advertise to sell small bites after concerts, but the kitchen closes early. When I said this to the bartender he shrugged and walked away and said he didn't care. I can't speak to anything else as we didn't stay and haven't been there when they do serve. Went there today after work. Cool vibes, nice music, great view and a nice little menu of small bites and drinks. But after we were seated, it took 15-20 minutes before a server said hi (it wasn't very crowded yet). Multiple waiters kept bringing over things we didn't order like "you guys have the blackberry coolers," "you guys have the chips and guacamole," and we were like, "no, we haven't even ordered." Finally the waitress came over, my husband asked what bourbon they had and she said "McCallen 12." My husband said, "I think that's scotch." She said, "I'll check," and 15 minutes later she came back. We quickly ordered drinks and appetizers. They came out and we never saw the server again. We wanted to order more drinks but after 30 minutes with empty glasses and plates, my husband walked to the host and asked if he could pay. We witnessed others sit and leave without being greeted. Maybe the server was just having a rough day, but we left thinking, "What a cool place, wish we could have enjoyed it more." Our tab was $56 for this. There are other places on the same pier. Host was extremely mean and refused to accommodate me in one of the nice lounge chairs because I was by myself (that is what she told me - what??). Though many chairs were empty and I told her that I will have food not only drinks. I sat at the bar and had worst service ever. Waited approximately 15-20 minutes just to have a food menu..
