The meat was good but not sure that it was well seasoned. The sauce, however, compensated for it. It was very delicious. The short rib grilled cheese was really the star. I wasn't sure what to get and someone ordered this and when I saw it come out I just knew I had to try it. I did and I highly recommend. The meat had a nice and grilled flavor. So after our first IPIC experience, we were definitely hungry, since we did not get serviced during the movie. So, my hubby made reservations for The Tuck Room, which so happens to be an escalator ride up in the same building as the IPIC movie theater, which was so convenient. We gathered our belongings and headed upstairs. The atmosphere was nice and cozy, and they were playing the best music selection for my ears. :) our waiter Matt was fantastic, super cool, knowledgeable, and serviced us with a smile. We looked over the menu and everything looked delicious. For our appetizers we ordered the Poblano Artichoke Dip and the Nacho Grande with Short Ribs on top which both were absolutely delicious. The size portions for both were huge......big enough to have as your main meal. For our entrees he ordered the Boss Burger that came with fries with an Espresso Martini and I got the Airline Chicken Breast seared, roasted fingerling potato, herbed wild mushroom confit, with a brandied mustard cream and I washed it down with a glass of Pursuit Of Happiness........YUM-O We ended our night with a bang everything that we've had there was delicious. This spot is straight across from a few of my favorite spots at the pier (The Fulton, House of the Red Pearl). I decided to go here because I was in the mood to try something new. The place is really nice. The beverages are great. The bartender/server was very nice. But the place was running S-L-O-W. You could tell just from the server flitting around that the place was sorely understaffed. I didn't get a glass of water or any type of notice until almost 10 minutes after I arrived. Now, the Brussel sprouts I ordered? Oh boy...it had a miso-tahini dressing, apples, and parmesan sprinkles. The dish was drowning in the miso-tahini dressing so much that the apples that were there barely even existed, as they were more like cooked onions than a crisp accompaniment. Couldn't taste the Parmesan either. A huge fail. But, the redeeming quality is that the flavor of the brussel sprouts still came through, so next time I would just opt for the dressing on the side. Unfortunately, it took about 35 minutes for two appetizers, a drink, and two Diet Cokes to arrive, though the food itself was actually really good. The biggest issue I had was with the bill. The charges were completely incorrect--all the prices were charged at regular rates, not happy hour prices. I had to call the waiter back to correct it, and she brought her manager over. While the manager tried to fix it, the final bill still ended up being more than it should have been. It was so confusing and frustrating. On top of that, charging $8 for one Diet Coke is insane. Really enjoyed our time at The Tuck Room. Pretty cool that its above a movie theater, as a hidden classy cocktail bar. All of our drinks were fantastic. My salmon with an Avocado sauce, pesto and Pomm seeds was delicious and perfectly cooked. The decor was classy, bookish, modern but retro inspired. It was really conforting and the kind of place you could hang out in all night. My wifes chicken dish was enjoyed as well. Glad to have this in the downtown area. Even on the seaport it wasnt overly touristy, most of the guests seemed somewhat local. We'll be back. My only complaint is when I asked for a candle for my wifes bday in the desert the server was thrown off and they had no candles in the back. This restaurant located on the 3rd floor of Ipic move theater at Sea Port. It looked very nice and we decided to have a dinner and a movie. Well... that was a bad decision. First of all the food is bad, it could fly with some average diner, but this wasn't the case. Duck meat balls were dry, chewy and simply not tasty, no seasoning. Short rib cheese sandwich, the meat was okay, again not seasoned and had no cheese at all, although it had in in the name and according to menu should have goat cheese. The same goes for burrata flat bread, that didn't have burrata and the bread was looked like it was from frozen section of Kfood. Spicy tuna crispy rice wasn't spice and wasn't crispy. The service was on the par with the food quality. It took almost half an hour to get our order despite the place wasn't busy. They have brought utensils, but i had to grab napkins from another table. The server was trying to clean our table without us finishing the dishes. When they cleaned dirty plates, they have not brought cleaned ones and I had to ask them to get some. So lots of staff but very poor service. The only good thing about this place is the bar. The drinks were very creative and tasty. So my advice, get a drink there but order the food in the theater, although it is the same kitchen, somehow I had no problems with the food in there. read more

The Tuck Room is a beautiful restaurant located within the iPic theater. I believe you can access the restaurant from outside as well without having to actually be at the theater. The restaurant is beyond beautiful. All of the small details from the piano to the book shelves make this feel like a cozy fancy restaurant. They do have two sections where you can potentially host dinner parties. One space is large and seems to fit 25 to 30 people. The second space is smaller and seems to maybe accommodate 10 people. I have entered this restaurant multiple times as the iPic theater doesnt have a bathroom on its floor so you have to go through the restaurant to use theirs. I never noticed how big this space is but they actually have more seating beyond the bar section. I had never noticed it before. Upon entering we were greeted by a food runner, i believe. He was extremely friendly and accommodating. He greeted us as soon as we stepped off the escalators and directed us to a table. Our waitress was also extremely helpful and nice as well. We ended up ordering the Crispy Tuna and Bone Marrow for appetizer. We also got the special which was Peruvian Steak Kabobs and the Boss Burger. The crispy tuna lacked, not in flavor but texture. The rice was not crispy at all. I could tell immediately when the plate was dropped on the table. The rice was too light so i knew they didnt take the time to truly crisp it up. The bone marrow was good, certainly something different to try. I liked having to scoop out the center and adding it to the toast myself. I think the onion jam put on top could of been more savory, It was sweet. The boss burger was amazing. Its a double pattie so be ready to be full. They do offer truffle fries, regular fries and sweet potato fries. We opted for sweet potato. They were amazing. The Peruvian kabobs were so good. I wish they were bigger as the photo gives the impression that its a bigger dish. The steak was cooked well and was tender, great flavor too. The sauces on the plate were amazing. I couldnt get enough of them. The potatoes were really good but looked nothing like the photo. I believe they were supposed to be deep fried and crispy, it wasnt. They were soft layers that broke off as soon as you tried to pick it up. Either way, it was still delicious. The food was good and had great flavor. A few execution issues but nothing that wouldnt make me come back and try more food. For drinks we had The Orchard and the Refresher. Both drinks were mocktails and were absolutely delicious. I love the fact that they had mocktails, not everyone is a drinker so having these options is amazing. The service was fairly quick. Horrible food. Truly not edible: Disgusting. Management is worse than the food. Seriously avoid!!! Every course of the restaurant took over 45 minutes and was cold. The chef hung out up front doing nothing while the entire kitchen was backed up. To add insult to injury, the restaurant compounded their insulting waits by telling us we had to move to another table because the reservation was only for two hours... BUT they are the ones who made it impossible to dine within two hours. The view was nice but the short troll lady with the beard - who cosplays as the manager - sent security to move us even though we had not been served our main course. Keep in mind that 20 minutes later the table was completely empty. At the end it was disastrous. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Food was horrible, the wait-staff was nice, but management is absolute garbage... like they have zero idea what a nice dining experiencing is about. Anton Nikodemus the CEO of Seaport Entertainment Group should be ashamed of the job his people are doing and should fire his HR and the management there, and if he disagrees, he should be fired. I should add that it was the Fourth of July and I am a 16 year Veteran of the US Army. If this is how they treat Veterans... imagine how they will treat you. Do not eat here. My family and I dined at The Tuck Room in celebration of my daughters birthday, prior to our movie downstairs at IPic. In addition to a extended wait for drinks and food, the server informed me that I was not allowed to cut the cake that we had brought in for the birthday. I told him that I didn't mind paying the cake cutting fee but I preferred to cut the cake myself. He said it was against the law to allow me to cut the cake myself and the cake must be brought into the kitchen for them to cut it. I've never heard this law and have yet to find this law documented anywhere, despite my time in law school. Nevertheless, the sever then proceeded to bring me back a completely butchered cake. He clearly did not know how to cut a cake and it wasn't cut at all in a way appropriate for consumption. He said it was up to us to cut the cake into pieces that we can eat. So if we still had to cut it, why do we have to pay a cake cutting fee and I thought having me cut it was illegal?! Why he had to cut the entirety of my cake into gigantic pieces for 9 guest I'm still trying to figure out. Update: Unfortunately have to update my 3 star review to 1 star. Went home right after dining here to be met with food poisoning. No doubt it was the Ranch dressing I mentioned. I called today to speak with the manager about either contaminated Ranch or poor handling of their condiments. The manager told the host on the phone they would not speak with me unless I went to urgent care. Coupled with the poor service, it seems they have poor management as well. No desire to return. First time coming here today after exploring the area, around 7:30. I sat at the front side of the bar which was full but emptied after about 5 minutes. I was greeted in a timely fashion by the bartender. Ordered Riesling and it came quickly. My only qualm at this point was the visibly new bar back who stood in front of me; he had two modes: leaning against the bar with an angry face or playing on his phone. This lasted the entirety of my visit. My only other issue was with the timing of service, otherwise I had no issues whatsoever. I ordered the lemon pepper chicken wings that took longer than usual to come out but there was a table of 20 by the window, so expected it. When the wings arrived, there was no ranch (comes with) so I waited around 8 minutes for the bartender to return . She didn't so I walked to where she was (using the dishwasher). As I returned to my seat, I heard her take the orders of the couple a few seats down me and put it in the system. I waited about 20 minutes total before I could eat my wings. When the ranch came, it looked like she took a cup of ranch that had been sitting on the counter for some time--- the top of it was hardened over. I made no fuss, I was hungry. It took another 10 minutes for her to take my card, so much so that I had to have the aforementioned bar back give it to her. The bar area was nearly empty so I'm not sure why there was such a lag. But I am excited to return to try the Ladies Happy Hour on Tuesday soon. Hoping this wasn't a normal occurrence. read more

Thursday, June 15, 2023 somewhere around 4:15 pm, with a lovely 70 + degree weather, South Street Seaport cobblestone Fulton Street, east river flowing, overhearing bits of conversations, laughter and giggles, appears The Tuck Room. As I am advancing towards the third floor to celebrate my friend Twan's goodbye celebration from the job, I noticed that this place is spacious and has a sort of speakeasy look. Both the second and third floor have bars, seating and plenty of waitstaff. Kathy ordered the spicy tuna on crispy rice with seared sushi rice, spicy aioli, scallion, teriyaki glaze, jalapeno and wasabi. This dish had a nice mild spiciness to it and it was good. Then there was the crispy brussels sprouts with miso-tahini dressing, fuji apples topped with parmesan cheese, tasty and I must say, it was a great selection. Cheryl's was the shrimp linguini. The shrimps were grilled, tossed with a pesto cream sauce, pine nut and parmesan cheese, yummy. All of the dishes had great presentation and were quite filling. Everyone was sharing their dishes. The Tuck Room was my friend's suggestion and a first time visit for me tonight. Happy Hour at $5 for wine was the initial draw and it is located upstairs from the IPIC theater. Upon entrance, the atmosphere was stunning---visually appealing and sexy. Many hit The Tuck Room pre/post movie. We sat at the bar which offered really comfortable bar chairs (not stools). I passed on having alcohol tonight but was pleased to learn that seltzer (even my diet coke) was at no charge. The bartenders/servers were wonderful and friendly during our entire stay. So why the average rating? The Tuck Room fell way short on the food we ordered. It just wasn't good. Luckily we ordered from the HH bar menu which was inexpensive with limited selections. I chose the margherita flatbread while my friend opted for the fried calamari. The flatbread was a nice sized portion and at first looked good. But looks are deceiving. The bread didn't resemble or taste like a pizza. Or flatbread. I really cannot describe it. It was thick and kind of soggy. The topping was no better. A bruschetta-like diced tomatoes were arranged on top of processed cheese. Overall, not flavorful or good and very disappointing. My friend thought the calamari was average at best. I actually tried a couple pieces and it was cold (in temperature) and too crispy (over fried). Well made fried calamari is prepared with a great, flavorful batter and is tender to the bite. This wasn't it. At the very least, both selectuons averaged at around $10. Since I didn't drink on this visit, I'd return again for their HH wine. It has a great ambience to do so. We were seated by the window, which offers light, but only a view of the highway. There is much to like about The Tuck Room, though the Chef Burger is not one of them. Our waitress arrived quickly, and the service was excellent throughout the meal. We tried the Pizza (very good), Chicken Spätzle (delicious), a side of Green Beans (very tasty), and the Chef Burger (not good!). We happen to like our fries piping hot and crispy, and though the initial order did not arrive as hoped, the waitress quickly brought us a large side of fries, perfectly prepared, My personal French fry theory is that, if you're going to consume that many calories, the fries should be awesome. And these were very tasty on the second attempt. Everyone enjoyed their dinners except for the two diners who unfortunately opted for the Chef Burgers. These were dry, fell apart when eating, with too little burger and too much bun. They were a big disappointment. We did like the ambiance, and otherwise enjoyed our dinners. So, I'd give The Tuck Room a begrudging 4 star review, with a recommendation to avoid the Chef Burger. read more

I went here on a Sunday night with a party of 4. The atmosphere is dark and intimate. We got a table next to the windows overlooking the pier. Appetizer = Pork Belly wraps. Perfect mix of flavors. Cute presentation of the dish! I didn't realize we would have to put the wraps together ourselves when we ordered, but it was pleasant. I ordered the The Marrow Burger for my entree, which comes with a mountain of french fries. It was phenomenal. One of the best burger's I've ever had. The burger was not only extremely juicy but it also came with the most delicious, thick pieces of bacon I've ever had on a burger. The portion was more than substantial, they definitely don't skimp out on the french fries! Pro-tip: I saved the sauce that came with the pork belly wraps to eat with my fries... real gooood. Also, one person from my party got the salmon. I didn't try it but she said it was dry, so I'd maybe pass on that. I took off a star because the service was pretty slow. The ordering of our food was prompt, but it pretty much went downhill after that. It took a while to get our food and to get the attention of the servers throughout the course of our dinner. A party at table by us had to go out and look for a server... Kind of a turn off but the food was still great, so I'd probably go here again if I find myself in the area for dinner again. read more

I really wanted to love The Tuck Room but I left very disappointed. A high school friend and I came here on a Friday to catch up and enjoy happy hour. Upon arrival we were greeted by the hostess then seated. As we walked to our seats I noticed how packed the bar area was. *lightbulb goes off in my head* so I ask the waitress if happy hr is only at the bar and she said yes. Now I am known as the planner to my friends, I research all restaurants before going. There's no mention on the Tuck Room's website of happy hr only being at the bar. Had it said so I wouldn't have chose this location. But I digress... Our waiter comes over takes our drink order then comes back 10mins later with our drinks. One of the tables being serviced by my waiter had him very flustered. Idk what was going on but I do know because of it we sat 30mins before placing our apps order. Another 30mins before placing our entree order. When the entrees did come which was an additional 30mins the fries were incorrect. We ordered truffle and received regular fries. Waited another 15mins to bring the correct fries. Don't get me wrong my waiter was a very nice gentleman but whatever was going on with him and the other table he was serving effected our service.
