Great little brewery. Nice patio and not too crowded or loud. My daughter and I had good west coast IPAs and my wife had a double Belgium. They did not have table service, so we ordered at the bar. No food service so we got sandwiches from the Cardiff Market. Great afternoon. We'll be back.

I went to Lost Abbey once when it was in San Marcos and was sad when it closed down. Today, I decided to go to Mother Earth and was pleasantly surprised to find out that Lost Abbey was attached. It's a great two for one spot if you just want a night out with beers. There are plenty tables to sit at and have food vendors for some chow if you need some after drinking some good beers.

Their new tasting room is awesome! Located in the back of a different brewery, getting here gives some speakeasy vibes. But walk through the back door with the Lost Abbey sign, and you're right in a fully functional and operational brewery. Smell the yeast, taste the deliciously fresh beer. I recommend the various methods, one of the best IPA's I've ever tasted. Great sours too, with ghost in the forest on tap. They just opened their new spot here too, definitely worth checking them out!!

    Outside. Nice, spacious patio.

The flagship. The mothership. Where it all began. So, the original location for the Lost Abbey is located in a big warehouse on a sort of nowhere street. Glamorous, it is not. But you're here for the beer and the beer is pretty darn good. Unfortunately, you IPA heads may be a little disappointed. IPA is NOT the dominant beer here, at least with the Lost Abbey portfolio of brews. Their standouts are darker, richer beers: think Belgian. And Judgment Day is simply freaking awesome. But if it's IPA you are after, they also serve a ton of Port Brewing's beers, so that is where you can get your fix. Lost Abbey and Port are both owned by the same company. They've got a large exterior patio and seating inside, too. Loud recorded rock music adds to the vibe. Employees are friendly and they generally have food vendors on-site. Alas, they do not answer their phones and the food vendors aren't listed anywhere online. I really wish they would let everyone know what food is onsite every night. Come on, guys. This is high quality beer and that's why you're here. Lots of free parking everywhere, too.

World class beer in a lovely place. We enjoyed our visit to church. We were very welcome on a Thursday afternoon. It just so happened to be the start of a 8 day CA Beer Road trip and Lost Abbey was our first stop. The Beertender was great. She helped us choose what we wanted to drink. I wish we lived closer. It's great that Lost Abbey is available in Georgia. Be aware of your surroundings and leave nothing of value in your car.

    Hoppy lager.

My friend Enrique and I drove to San Diego on a Sunday for a short day trip, to get away from the city. Lost abbey, is combined with pizza port beers, and hop concept. The place is small. I was disappointed in their beer selection though. Most of the lost abbey and pizza port beers that was on tap, I've already had them. And hop concept beers were ipas and hazy IPAs. Don't get me wrong, I like IPAs but I wasn't in the mood for one. We were better off going to stone brewery bistro in Escondido instead. The staffs were nice. I guess I had more expectations from this brewery.

    Tastings by the glass

Currently tastings are possible as long as you purchase at least $5 in food, and the taco stand was a good snack addition, which included portobello mushroom (vegan) as well as fish, lobster, and meat street tacos. We were impressed by the outdoor distanced and covered tables available, and the beer was as good as ever. Bottles and cans available for purchase, too, if you don't feel like staying. We definitely felt safe and would come back.

Ask the Community - The Lost Abbey

Are there nearby food places so you can bring food in?

Yes there is food available from several local eateries just a mile or so away. There is a shopping center about 1.5 miles west that has everything from Italian, Sushi, Mexican, Subway, Mediterranean etc. I have also seen UberEats and the like… Read more

Is this kid friendly? Aka under 21 allowed with adult?

Yes it's very kid friendly. I mean, as much as a brewery can be. There's often 3-5 kids ranging from 2-10 hanging out with other deadbeat beer enthusiast parents like me.

Is there outside seating for eating outside food? And is outside food allowed?

Per the signs, it appears outside food is allowed

Do they have a food truck or appetizers?

No food in house but they often have a food truck on site.

My husband and I were consistently blown away throughout the meal. We had a few cocktails (one was the verde) and all of them were exceptionally crafted, balanced and well priced. What really shocked us was how good the food was. These were chef driven dishes with phenomenal flavor profiles and execution. Genuinely was blown away by the charred broccoli and the cabbage dish. I would venture to say I preferred the broccoli dish here than to somewhere like Campfire. On that final note, I'll say we typically go to State street or Encinitas/Solana/Oceanside for our date nights but please, give this place a try. They were so so good! 10/10 from two vegetarians

It was slow and not super pleasant. It didn't seem too busy anywhere in the place so I'm not sure what the delays were. Maybe the server was new, but she didn't seem too happy and forgot my drink. When she finally came back to check on us she asked if I would like to order a drink (umm, I just want to beer that I ordered ten minutes ago, please). I'd go again if others chose to meet up there... and just hope for the best.

I'm a huge Wicked fan and was excited to see this event advertised on Yelp. This restaurant was the only one in North County I can think of that acknowledged the movie when it was about to be in theaters. First of all, it was easy to get to based on my GPS but kind of challenging to find their parking lot. I ended up finding a 2-hour parking on N. City Drive which was in walking distance. All I was thinking of while walking up to Draft Republic is that this place is massive. Inside, the hostesses verbally instructed me where to go...came across bowling...arcade games...sports on tvs on my way. Behind the curtains, I entered the room in awe. Draft Republic really went ALL OUT!! The Wicked witchy vibe was sooo magical. I loved the beautifuuul Elphaba/Glinda decorations, cleverly creative themed menu option names, actual movie playing in the background, and the take-home momentos. Nick and staff were super wickedly friendly too. The Wicked Bites, Grimmerie Shots and Wickedest Cocktails were all FANTASTIC!!! I definitely tasted Draft Republic's wickedness. I appreciated everything about this experience....well well done. What a WICKED TIME! I hope there are more speakeasy pop-ups in the near future :-)

Because Draft Republic is a rough place to quantify. The food is pretty good; if going off that alone, this place would easily be four stars in my eyes. But, it's not ... Draft Republic is trying to be a bit closer to like a mini Dave & Buster's (a place I have come pretty close to loathing). With an arcade, a bowling alley, a golfing simulator, a full bar, pretty extensive menu, good music, and a fantastic staff, they really have a lot going for them with a little something to make anyone happy. My own issue deals solely with the cost. Came here with my son, all we did was eat two entrees and an appetizer between us, and did nothing else. With drink and after tax and tip, the cost was well over $90. No games, no play, just burgers (plus fries and poke tacos) for two, costs as much as many Californian's net after a full day of work. When you're used to feeding the whole family for about half as much when going out (or a little more when eating sushi), that price was a bit rough. Still, the food is very good. My son and I each ate The Draft Republic Burger. It was perfectly cooked, juicy, very flavorful, and the toppings were high quality. The fries were crisp and salted well. And the side salad wasn't too bad. Both of us ate our entrees and gave it high marks. We had started with the Tres Poke Tacos, where the Tuna was very tasty, steeped in a flavorful marinade, and felt nice and fresh. Definitely a good starter. And the restaurant itself is gorgeous. A lot of space, beautifully furnished, kind of industrial meets art deco with some new age greenery architecture thrown in. I like it a lot. But, as an aging Gen-X'er, who used to go to arcades back in the day, and hates what new arcades have become, the amenities are under appreciated by me. All of that pads the price tag a bit out of what I am willing to pay just for dinner. Which may not be fair to Draft Republic, but that's where it left me.

Inexplicably, my kids love beavers, and so when we were staying in Carlsbad for the night and looking for a place to eat, how could we not visit a place called Belching Beaver? We couldn't not! And so we did. It turns out, Belching Beaver is a very family-friendly brewery, with lots of arcade games, lawn games, and an extremely laid-back atmosphere. I wasn't going to get a beer, but then I saw that the brewery did a collaboration with the Deftones to create an IPA called Phantom Bride. I had to get a pint. Chino Moreno made me do it! It was citrusy and refreshing, and just the thing to enjoy while sitting on the outdoor picnic tables. Belching Beaver offers your average pub food. My kids got chicken tenders and fries, and mac and cheese with fries. I got a poke bowl, which sounds like a risky choice at a brewery, but it was actually really good and fresh! Not too saucy, either. We also got the carne asada 980 Nachos, which are huge and come on a baking sheet. Plenty enough to share! This place is tucked away in what looks like an office plaza.
