Giant Burger has been a mainstay of the town of Arnold for as long as I can remember. The burgers are good, and their shakes, malts, ice cream are even better. The service is good, although I've never been there at a time where it isn't busy; as such the wait time is always a bit on the long side. It's a great place to stop after a long day on the lake though, so it's worth the wait. The ambiance is that of a busy burger joint, music, food, and people. Just do it! :)

Double Double with Fries & a drink $23... Pricey but delicious!

On our way to Calaveras Big trees and stopped here for a bite to eat. Ordered a double double burger with fries and a drink, it was $23. A little pricey, but it was delicious. They have inside and outside seating

Service was okay, food was very bland. It lacked flavor. The common area needed some cleaning. It's unfortunate because the little town of Arnold doesn't have many food options. Small parking lot available.

Good burger. They've been around for YEARS. My baby burger was good. Hubby's was a bit dry. GREAT onion rings. A bit pricey but after snow activities, great place to grab a bite to eat. Quality of food: A Quality of service: A Price: $+ - $$ (I wouldn't consider "cheap" since fries are paid separately. No Wi-Fi or cell tower nearby

What a great little burger shack! we tried the western burger, pretzel burger, kids corn dog, fries, garlic cheese curds, and chocolate, blackberry malt. Everything was delicious, but our favorites were definitely the western burger and the cheese curds! The blackberry, chocolate malt was yummy, as well. They have a big menu with lots to choose from. There are many different food options and shake flavors. We especially enjoyed our conversations with Dave! He was very friendly and personable, and had excellent recommendations!

My sad looking burger- I eat keto, so No bread wanted. No grilled onions as requested and one slice of bacon. No thank you!

The service was okay, but the quality of food was just okay. Especially for the prices! I paid $10 for a giant burger with bacon only one slice... The burger wasn't cooked all the way, they forget to grilled the onions. Which I saw on the receipt. But the wait was ridiculous long. It wasn't packed out at all. Most of the tables were empty. A lot of people behind the counter, a lot of talking among themselves. The patty size is one of a quarter pound burger(Costco patty) and I had it lettuce wrap. I won't return back.

A beautiful day for Giant Burger out in the Sierra sunshine!

Stomped in at this Arnold landmark for a dose of nostalgia, as Giant Burger has been part of our family vacations since the 70s. We were greeted by a very friendly and accommodating employee who was quick to help us grab a selfie in front of their classic sign and carved bear. We were immediately helped with our order that included their massive mushroom, Swiss burger, and a surprisingly delicious chicken Caesar sandwich. Both were served quickly and hot and fresh! Required tons of napkins, but completely worth the effort; beefy, savory, and perfectly cooked! We also sampled their delicious cheese curds that would be awesome after a day of skiing! If that wasn't enough, they spotted my wife's Journey shirt and queued up their greatest hits for us! Super experience and we highly recommend!

This review is for the Giant Sequoia Sandwich:…read more The review would have been better if I had a picture but I was hungry and my half of the sandwich was so good that I ate 3/4ths of it before I even drank anything! My husband was even quicker. After visiting Calaveras Big Trees State Park on a colder Monday in October, we made a stop at their deli because we remembered eating a sandwich there 10 years ago or so. Our memory served us well as the Giant Sequoia sandwich was fabulous: Dutch Crunch bread, bacon, avacado, turkey, lettuce, tomato, and more. The service was quick and the sandwich was great. Perfect combination!

I walked into Big Trees Market at 6:50 PM last night (3/31) to grab a few quick items. There were…read morestill multiple customers shopping--completely normal. At 7:01, an announcement came on saying the store had been closed for one minute and to head to the register. Totally fair. I needed one more thing from produce so I hurried- another announcement at 7:02 said to "stop shopping- we are closed" I grabbed my last item and went up front. By 7:03, I was already being checked out. And yet the reaction from staff was... unbelievable. There were several employees standing at the front just staring at me--clearly irritated, like I'd personally ruined their evening. It was three minutes past closing. Not 30. Not 15. Three. Then it somehow got worse. They were out of bags (understandable), so I asked if I could use the hand basket to carry my items to my car, which was literally parked right in front of the doors to the store. I was told no, "these baskets cant leave the store"--and that I needed to go outside and get a cart instead. So I had to run out, grab a cart, and come back in... while the entire staff stood there watching me. There must have been 6 or 7 employees glaring at me with dirty looks like I had insulted them personally. The older checker was grumpy and rude, but honestly the whole team contributed to making the experience feel hostile and unwelcoming. I completely understand wanting to close on time. But if ringing someone up at 7:03 feels like a crisis to your staff, that's a management issue--not a customer problem. Also- why not sell reusable bags if you run out of bags so often? I would have bought one to make it faster for me to exit the store. Seems like a simple solution to avoid the extreme stress your staff is experiencing

We came early (5:30 on a Friday) and it was quiet at first. The wine list still had some gaps, but we found a Val Du Vino GSM we enjoy. The flaming cheese appetizer was delicious, though they didn't give us enough of a heads-up before lighting it--would've loved a chance to catch the moment. Still, it's a fun and tasty start with pita. Service felt a bit rushed early on, with multiple prompts to order entrées before our app even arrived, so we slowed things down ourselves. We split a gyro salad next, which was large and very good--honestly could've been enough with the appetizer. The chicken marsala lived up to the hype with a great sauce, but the sides (green beans and rice pilaf) were underwhelming. The beans were too sweet for me, and the pilaf lacked flavor--plain basmati rice would've been better to soak up the sauce. Overall, a good meal and a much better experience. We'll be back sooner next time.

They come with soup, entree, carb: half and half noodles +rice or just noodles/rice. They had a hot and sour soup and I downed almost two bowls of it as the kids refused to have theirs. I enjoyed the bits of tofu in it. For my lunch entree I picked the house special chicken. And man was I in for a treat. It was thinly cut strips of chicken in an addictive sauce with jalapeños in it. I savored every bit of my meal. I sampled my family's string bean chicken and garlic chicken as well. The beans were crisp yet cooked through, just amazing!! We debated our options for food before continuing our drive back home and d cided to find a Chinese food place. The Arnold Chinese Restaurant fit our requirements well. My litmus test for a new place is to order beef chow fun. I was pleasantly surprised when they had it on the menu. It's something that you have to have a constant fresh source for it to have a chance of being good. Secondly, even though I forgot to stipulate "dry-cooked", that's how they prepared it. (Proper chow fun is not served with goopy sauce). The seasoning of fermented black beans was perfect! Not something from a jar, but whole, fermented blacks beans full of taste. It was pretty good, overall. The server brought our food out very quickly, hot and fresh off the wok. I had to wait some minutes while it cooled down enough to eat. When I took my first bite, I was very pleased. The taste was spot-on. Their chef knows how to cook. Fortunately, the portion was fairly generous, too, as I realized how hungry I was. My friend had ordered a few different things stir fried, like garlic eggplant and tofu. It looked well-prepared, as well. It was quite a nice surprise that we found such a good Chinese restaurant in Little old Arnold.
