The apartments are very nice and in very beautiful condition. The Staff in the leasing office is very nice and remember you when they see you. Engineering is very quick to respond to any issues in the unit as well. The building is super close to the light rail, you can get downtown in no time at all. We've been living for 2 years and are now just moving out to explore Ballard and live in a townhouse. We've had a great experience. The staff are great as so is the maintenance staff. The only challenge with the lyric are the residents themselves and things you can't avoid when living in a property this size with so many residents. Things like barking dogs and poop in the hallways. Also, while they have a/c you have to have it running all the time because it's naturally warm in the units. Also, if you have a broadway side apt you cant really have your windows open because of the noise but it was a personal choice to live on that side. I would highly recommend the Lyric. read more

Location, Location, Location and great staff. Have been a resident since they opened and I've been proud to call this place home. Our unit is beautiful and haven't had any service issues in 3 years. It's also a place with a sense of community because the management team often host events of all types which allow you to meet your neighbors and maybe even new friends. My husband and I recently moved here, and this place is really as good as it gets. The building managers are incredibly helpful (big shout out to Sidneigh who always goes above and beyond for us! She was the manager who originally showed the apartments to us and helped us during our move-in process, and continues to always help us whenever we have any questions). One time, I dropped my keys in the elevator shaft, and Morgan, Sidneigh, and the maintenance crew all helped me to get my keys back within an hour, without even blinking an eye or making me feel horrible about it. Another time we got a huge package while we were not home, and Valerie put it inside of our apartment to help us out. These are people that really put the tenants first. The location is amazing, parking is very reasonable, and they are very pet friendly with a dog patch on the roof. Speaking of the roof, these are some of the greatest views in the city. The apartments are beautiful, spacious, and the kitchen is great. Also...THERE IS AC! Noise is never an issue. We are able to literally walk within blocks to get to anything--the light rail, the park, restaurants, bars, and shopping. Not to mention there is also a vet RIGHT downstairs who are just as lovely! This is definitely a winner and I would recommend this building to anyone! read more

I moved in about a week ago and I love it! The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Kim S has amazing customer service and is such a pleasure to be around. She gave me the tour when I walked in and her bubbly personality really sold me. The quality of the appliances and finishes are five stars. I couldn't be happier! I very much enjoy living at the lyric! definitely the best apartment I've ever lived in. the apartment itself is great.. with a big tub... good storage space... and laundry in the unit (which takes on a new level of meaning having moved directly from NYC!) the building is well maintained and the staff in the office are always helpful and friendly... especially stacy the manager! all the amenities are also very good. the sky lounge is a great place to hold a soiree... and the view from the roof is about as good as it gets. read more

I don't typically write reviews for apartment complexes, but my experience here at The Lyric has been so great that I had to share my thoughts. First, obviously the units are nice and the apartment is in a great location on Broadway. Units have a well maintained feel with air conditioning (crucial in the summer!) and nice appliances. The roof deck is amazing, and the building has extra amenities like a gym and movie screening room. All are nice and well maintained although I find myself using the roof more than anything else--it's really great. All of this is table stakes though and I'm sure there are other places in Seattle that offer similar amenities. What gets the Lyric its 5-star rating is how friendly, helpful, and awesome the staff here are. Not only are maintenance requests very quickly addressed and the front desk ensures that packages are held / delivered to your room, but the staff are genuinely great and friendly people who really seem to care about making The Lyric a great place to live. I was skeptical about moving into a larger building since in my experience you have to deal with a lot of bureaucracy and unresponsive management. Not here--Valerie, Sidneigh, and the entire office staff are what make this place stand out. For everything from questions about the building to recommending a great restaurant to just giving a friendly hello when I come home from work, the team at The Lyric really make this place special. If you're thinking about moving to Capitol Hill, I certainly recommend setting up an appointment to check out the building. read more

My experience is with being stood up for an appointment. I called a week ahead and made an appointment to see the place. I arrived 10 minutes before the appointed time, used the dialpad to try and reach a leasing agent in the building but none picked up the phone. A few minutes later I tried the original business phone number and reached a receptionist (central management/sales office likely) who was very respectful and courteous but she also could not reach the leasing agent in the building. It took me a while to reach the place, the building looks nice and hopefully a nice community, but if they cannot keep their appointments, it is not a place for me. read more

I moved out of the Lyric last November and I still miss it. I've been dealing with the grief which is why it's taken me so long to write a review. :) This apartment was by far the best building I've ever lived in. The things that made it so great were the Staff (Valerie is pretty awesome), the maintenance crew (I never waited more than 24 hours to get anything fixed), the location (it seems like it may be noisy being right on Broadway but it's not), the amenities and especially the rooftop deck (ah-mazing) and just the overall coziness of the building made it feel like home. They also did quite a few events for the residents which were not all co-sponsored by other companies so you didn't feel like you were always being sold to as a resident. It felt more like community building. The tenants are pretty diverse and yes there are some snobby ones but they don't outweigh those that are pleasant and neighborly. If there were a few things I would change it would be not charging for using the community space, since the rent is pretty high as it is. There were a few car break ins so maybe having more or better placed cameras in the garage would help. Overall, a great place to live and I would highly recommend it! read more

We've been living here just over a month. Loving it! As a rental agent Lauren can't be beat. Patient, friendly and, even after we signed on the dotted line, she remains so. All of the expected amenities are here plus more. How about a beautiful roof top deck that includes an off leash dog "park"? Bike storage? And, much more. The apartment is very user friendly. High end touches throughout with a wonderfully convenient and useful rolling island. We moved here from a very small high end condo building and have found life here more pleasant. Love walking the neighborhood, greeting neighbors in the hallway, the quietness inside our apartment. There is a responsive and friendly crew on site (Nick, Bill, JR) to attend to building needs and a responsive and caring crew (Lauren, Stacy, et al) in the office to attend to tenants needs. We lived at the Lyric in a one bedroom w/den apartment for a little over a year. I've lived in managed properties in New York, San Francisco and by far the Lyric is the best managed building I've ever stayed in. The staff is incredibly customer focused and often go above and beyond to help. The building is very well maintained and extremely clean. It's pet friendly and you'd never know. They also do a great job organizing community events within the building and also around the neighborhood. The amenities of the building speak for themselves and the location is unbeatable - conveniently located steps away from a pharmacy, grocery store, bank and numerous bars, restaurants and coffee shops. We decided to move out to find a place with more space but highly recommend the lyric to anyone looking for a 1-2 bedroom unit in the amazing Capitol Hill. I'm reviewing the customer service and the tour since I don't actually live here at the moment. My girlfriend and I moved right before this place started leasing, so it wasn't an option. We love the location though and decided to stop by for a tour today even though our lease isn't up for at least 7 months. I let Jill (in the office) know this, half expecting to be turned away or at least for her enthusiasm to drop. Nope! She was super friendly and excited to show us around even though there was literally no way we were signing a lease in the short term. We did find out they only allow 2 dogs, which was disappointing as we own 3 small ones (and our current building allows it) - this would be good information for their website. We're not giving one of them up :( However, even with *this* information, knowing that it was even less likely we'd ever live there, Jill was still happy to help us out. It's a gorgeous building - the 2 bedroom we saw was very nice, with a well thought out floor plan and good appliances. Also, AC! It's a nice rarity. The amenities were also impressive looking, including a huge, beautiful roof deck with grills and a great view, a little mini off leash dog park on the roof, a community lounge/common room, a resident movie theater (!), and a fitness room. The prices that were mentioned definitely reflect all of this, but I think in this case you get what you pay for (which I'm not sure is true for where I live today...) So color me impressed with my first impression of the building and management. It's a bummer about the dog limit, especially as they advertise being really dog friendly - my dogs are well behaved, small, and quiet, but it seemed like they weren't willing to negotiate that point at this time. We would have love that dog area upstairs! read more

I moved to Seattle from Australia a couple of years ago and after looking at a number of apartments in Capitol Hill I was fortunate enough to get an apartment at the Lyric. Moving into the Lyric was the best decision. The apartment felt almost brand new when I moved in. The facilities are amazing especially the rooftop. I was also very surprised how dog friendly the building is as well. The location to bars/restaurants/shops is incredibly handy including having the very funky and cool cafe/bar Solstice downstairs. The system/process of paying rent & utilities is very user friendly. And the best thing is the whole leasing staff are incredibly friendly. Under the terrific supervision of Stacey, Morgan, Valerie & Sidney are always at hand to provide whatever assistance you might need. They truly make life at the Lyric such a great experience. I'm so glad I chose the Lyric when I first moved to Seattle. I've had the best time here and I highly recommend the Lyric to anyone considering moving into the city. You pay a premium to be at the Lyric but it's worth every penny or at least that's been my experience. Thank you Lyric team for making my stay such a memorable one. I miss you guys!! read more

I just recently moved out. I really liked the whole place and never ran into any problems (especially fixing things, which always got done really fast). Secure mail, bike storage, parking, etc. To give an idea, its definitely more modern, hotel like hallways, my room had a cool walk-in closet, the bathroom was the best part with W/D in unit. Small gym with cardio and light weights. Definitely more younger professional, 25-35. If you prefer more character/charm/warmth, Id consider an older renovated building. If you prefer modern, clean, new. Id stop by. There really isn't any cons, especially if you like modern, straight lined design. (And i say the following a little jokingly) The hallways sometimes reminded me of hospitals, and for some reason the contractor chose colors you would see on a trip to Sante Fe (desert khaki orange). Also, the whole courtyard and outside is lined with these "plants," that are kinda look like the stem of a pineapple. That just me, I notice crazy stuff that. Other than that, don't let it deter you, Id move back any day. I guess I would say..... 9 out of 10 read more

I know that nobody even watches youtube videos if they're longer than two minutes these days, so I'm going to do my best to just cut right to the chase about the stuff you want to know and the stuff you *should* know about this building: 1. The Lyric is hands-down the best apartment complex available in Seattle right now, especially when you consider the neighborhood it's in and how rapidly it's becoming more and more valuable (the new LinkLight Rail station is being built next door...literally). And if you're looking to rent, then you likely already know that rent in this city is another thing that's rapidly increasing, yet somehow my rent at The Lyric hasn't gone up more than $20 in the 3+ years I've lived here. So "completely reasonable rent" + "prime neighborhood" = A unicorn of the apartment world. 2. It's a safe, secure building with electronic entry. 3. It's located in the *literal center* of Capitol Hill - I can literally get almost every single thing I need ON THE SAME BLOCK. Have I said "literally" enough? Because I know the difference between "literal-literal" and "figurative/exaggerated literal", and I'm using the word "literal" truthfully here. Downstairs in the same building, there's a Verizon store (though there's other carriers across the street if you don't use Verizon), an awesome/affordable dentist, a Bank of America, a great veterinarian, laptop repair, Solstace coffee, and quick food like Subway and Einstein Bagels. ALL DOWN STAIRS. 4. The rent is completely reasonable, especially when you compare price points anywhere else. My friend is currently paying the same amount for a bare 350 sq ft studio apartment in Wallingford as I am for a full, pet-friendly one bedroom WITH brand new, eco-friendly, front-load washer and dryer, dishwasher, heaters outside the shower (who thinks of that?! It's glorious!), AIR CONDITIONING (we may not need it often in this city - which is why no one has it - but when you DO need it, you really need it, and it's one of the most beautiful inventions of all time), pre-installed internet from an awesome network that hasn't given me ONE problem in 3 years, decent closet space, and a granite-topped mobile kitchen island. There are so many little details in this building that make it so special. Like for instance, the doors and cabinet drawers have a function so they close softly and don't slam shut, the appliances and furnishings are all made from sturdy materials that are easy to clean, the floors are hardwood (again, easy to clean) but there's carpet in the one room you don't want cold feet- your bedroom-, and the units are spacious and grown-up-looking. 5. It's quiet. Even being in the center of Capitol Hill, I don't hear anything at night. 6. Two levels of secure garage parking and a parking discount for your visiting friends and family. 7. The building is equipped with a full gym, a HUGE courtyard, professional grade barbeques on the roof with a view of the entire city and Lake Union (4th of July and New Year's Eve are awesome), a movie theater that's always stocked with popcorn (seriously, the little things go a long way), rooftop sky lounge with fireplace and cable t.v., and - most importantly to me - a fenced area for dogs on the roof so that you don't have to take your dogs outside in the middle of the night. 8. And perhaps most importantly - the nicest staff in the entire world. I've said this before in other reviews, but it's worth mentioning again. Where other buildings nickel and dime their residents, the Lyric constantly upgrades the building and throws fun events for us with food and drinks and asks for our feedback about how we want to use our space. For instance, they asked us which channels we wanted to have available on the t.v.'s in the gym, and they always ask us what kind of party we'd like to have next. They host every kind of event you can think of: Game of Thrones viewing party, yoga classes, pet spas, Seahawks game parties, Sunday brunches, happy hours, and everything else in between. A great example of putting the residents first is how they handled a group that got too rowdy on the roof one night right after they opened. They could have very easily decided that the rooftop should close at dusk which would have punished the entire building. Instead they hired security guards and had a sign-in sheet for large group parties. Everyone was happy. When I first moved in, I was in the middle of a huge transition and I wasn't sure I could afford it, so the apartment manager actually sat down with me for like two hours to help me look at my finances and give me honest advice instead of trying to immediately sign me or immediately turn me away. 9. I don't know what else anyone looks for in an apartment that this place doesn't do in spades, but I would faithfully recommend living here to my own parents or friends. The building is beautiful. The location is great, if you like homeless people sleeping outside of your building, some obviously mentally ill, or the smell of urine, garbage everywhere, a constant stench of cigarette smoke and pot smoke. Don't get me wrong, I have always wanted to live in a frat house, but I did that in college and did not realize that is what I would be getting back into. Unless you are from around here you really have no idea what it is like, it is portrayed completely differently when they are schmoozing you to sign up. Also, you are the most important person in the world until you sign the lease, then is it sort of "uh huh, yes, uh huh, ok, we will take care of it" in a pleasant "please go away" attitude. If it is something they need, it is "incredibly important", if it is something you need...not so much. read more

Staying at The Lyric was the highlight of my time in Seattle. As soon as my boyfriend and I got there to view the property, we knew that that was the place we would move into. Sidneigh, Valerie, Morgan, and the rest of the staff including maintenance were all amazing and super nice and helpful. The amenities in the building were the best: from the gym, to the sky lounge, to the roof deck, and the list goes on. I posted about The Lyric about a year ago. I'll still a very happy resident, but thought it was important to submit another post to recommend the building to prospective residents. I'm lucky to have a top floor apartment with great westerly views of the Needle, Sound & Olympics. However, I had an issue a few months ago...the building is brand new and there are always snagging issues with new builds. Unfortunately I was the one unlucky person in the building with this specific issue...one of the exterior drains developed a slow leak which started coming through a light fixture. This damaged my new mattress and a few other bits while I was away for a couple of days. I reported the problem at about 11pm at night to Pillar Properties' maintenance hotline, not expecting a call back. However, within 30 minutes one of their head maintenance guys had travelled into the city and dealt with the leak immediately. The next day morning the team had arranged to have the damaged items removed, had a dehumidifier put in the apartment, and had scheduled the contractors to come fix the drywall and paint the apartment. Cleaners were sent in immediately afterwards and I got my replacement goods without a question. THIS is how you do customer service. That's one of the reasons why I'm going to re-sign with The Lyric to a larger apartment. Great job Scott, Bill and the Pillar Properties team. You dealt with an unfortunate incident superbly and have retained a very happy resident. 5*. read more

We lived in this apartment complex for our last 6 months out of our 4 year stay in Seattle and will say this was the best place without a doubt! I only wish had discovered this complex 4 years ago! The staff is professional and always in a great mood which is a relief. The amenities are amazing with a fantastic rooftop view. All units have AC so it makes it comfortable even in the hottest of days. Having a 24hour gym at the complex is also extremely convenient and leaves no room for excuses. Don't take my word for it, just stop by and you'll be convinced instantly. But the best part is the talented and highly capable staff. They go out of their way to make everyone's stay amazing. We moved into the Lyric in November, and could not be happier. The apartment is beautiful, the staff is friendly and down to earth (which is a nice surprise.... we have run into apt management that have been less than humble), and the roof..... wow. The fireplaces turn on with a flick of a switch, and the heat lamps pump out amazing heat even now in December. The tenants are relaxed, and respectful, and the maintenance responds to needs within hours of placing online requests! I think that we will be very happy here for a long time. read more

I moved into the Lyric on New Year's Eve day and I couldn't be happier! My apartment has nice finishes and there are great community rooms to enjoy and meet other fellow residents. The whole experience from the time I toured the place with Kim S. to the time I moved in has been so smooth and professional. I enjoy being in the middle of everything on Capitol Hill and I enjoy all they nice amenities in this complex! The whole crew, from the maintenance people to the leasing office group are just great! I have been living at the lyric for 6 months now and love it. The staff are friendly and helpful. The apartments are beautiful, the common areas are great, it's a great location. It's quiet. It's always clean. It's safe and secure. It's the nicest place to live in the area, in my opinion. Another perk is that the community is great there. There are always social events (game nights, parties, movie nights, expresso carts, sports events), and lots of people go! I had about the WORST roommate experience one could imagine! However, The Lyric was about the most AWESOME place to be. The staff and maintenance crew were ALL amazing! Stacy, Sydney, Val....everyone always went out of their way to answer questions and to make sure all problems were dealt with (including my keys dug out of the recycle bin when I accidentally dropped them down the chute!) This included a well after hours phone response by Stacy the manager who assured me that maintenance would find my keys first thing in the morning, which they did. The Lyric also puts on great monthly celebrations and activities for residents and also participates in community service! They maintain a clean building and common area for the residents and are ALWAYS friendly and helpful. For the time I did spend there, I would highly recommend The Lyric as a GREAT place to live, especially across from the Light Rail and the location in general. The Lyric was the first place that I lived in when I came to Seattle from the Midwest. It was a big change. The staff at The Lyric was so kind and helpful with everything. Maintenance was always on top of any little issue. They were always there with a smile on face and responded in a timely manner. The office staff themselves are so friendly and knowledgeable. They were always around to answer any questions and when emailed or called, they always got back to you very quickly. The layout of the units are awesome. They provide storage and when this building was designed, they really thought of everything and didn't cut any corners. The inside of the building was always clean and outside was always well taken care of. The parking garage seems larger than other parking garages and was able to accommodate my large Jeep. I never felt unsafe in the area and it was nice being located so close to grocery stores, pharmacies, great restaurants, and close to the interstate for getting around town. read more

"Quietly awesome" is the hilariously misleading and inaccurate slogan of the team at The Lyric and Pillar Properties, "loudly condescending, inflexible, two faced and stuck-up" would be infinitely more appropriate. Please don't just take my word for it though, by all means take out a lease at this establishment, but don't put a toe out of line from their 63 page lease terms and conditions, don't even be seen coming or going from the building in anything less than business attire, or the ridiculously snooty staff and their team of attorneys will make your life miserable, Don't get me wrong, the location of these apartments is unquestionably great, and the apartments themselves are pretty nice if a little tight on storage space, but your home is somewhere you should be able to return to at the end of the day and unwind, and not feel unwelcome. As someone who has lived in cities all over the world, I am extremely disappointed to say this is the first negative rental experience I have encountered. I think it's fair to say that the management staff long ago lost sight of what makes this city and the Capitol Hill neighborhood so great, it's energetic, artsy, diverse - with just a little touch of grit to keep it real. So enjoy "the soundtrack of your life", but only if it is Nora Jones or Sade. read more

I never take the time to write Yelp reviews, however, I loved living at the Lyric this past year and I would love to share why! When I was first looking for apartments in Seattle last year for my one year of residency at UW I visited maybe 10 apartments before the Lyric. Almost every leasing agent was rude, condescending or unwelcoming. When we walked into the Lyric we were greeted by Sidneigh, and she is one of the many wonderful staff members that helped to make Seattle my home during a challenging year. Stacy and Valerie were equally helpful during my time at the Lyric, from offering a smile or a minute to chat and hear about my day. Perhaps the most memorable staff encounter was when I found a wayward giant bug that had snuck into my apartment and I took my terrified self to the front desk and asked Sidneigh to come kill it for me--a task she did not even hesitate to perform, and was also very reassuring that I wasn't a total spazz (untrue, but her kindness should be noted). I also really loved my studio apartment which was more than enough space for one person and had all the amenities one could want, such as washer/dryer, dishwasher, HUGE walk-in closet. I am really going to miss being at the Lyric which so quickly and easily became home for me, and I would recommend for anyone to live there! read more
