I did not have any interaction with the owners or rented the venue but did meet some of the staff who were very nice and helpful. They did a great job of checking people in and telling people the best places to park in case they run out of spaces in their parking lot. Clean facility and as an attendee this is a place I would consider renting out for an event. Not sure how the management is behind the scenes and that is a big factor but cannot honestly judge that portion.

Lyric and Erika were easy to work with and helped us get the little details we wanted. Gaelic Park is super reasonably priced and made it so much easier on us. Very disappointed with my experience at this venue in Calumet Park. After my event, I was told my…read moredeposit wouldn't be returned due to "shoe prints on the walls." I asked for photo proof--none was provided. My family and I cleaned thoroughly, and no one noticed any such issue. I even offered to meet at the venue to inspect the space, and that was ignored. The owner also mentioned police presence outside due to teens waiting on rides--calling it "loitering"--but even stated a fine was avoided. That shouldn't be tied to my deposit at all. When the police weren't actually called to the venue itself. The reason for withholding it, according to their own message, was just the alleged footprints, which they refused to prove. I reviewed the contract and followed all cleaning policies. This feels like a poor excuse to keep my deposit without cause. Renters, protect yourselves--take photos before and after, get everything in writing, and be cautious with this space.

From the start we didn't like a couple of their rules but after writing the owner we worked out a suitable solution. I had 3 specific beers i wanted to order just a case of for certain people. so, for 200 extra dollars I got my 3 cases of beer. It was very difficult dealing with anyone else but Maria, the men were all condescending. it was raining at the start of my wedding, so I did not go outside to decorate the courtyard. Rain stopped 7:30pm. dinner was very slow service took forever in-between soup, salad and entrees. my timeline was being throw off, so had to go right into schedule without eating much. The coordinator and our server were very good that night. no complaints about them. she asked if I wanted anything boxed up. I said yes but never received anything(so not sure what that was about). around 10:26 noticed I forgot to put cigars in courtyard. went to put them out and it was locked. never opened no fire on no waterfalls. had it unlocked. also noticed my friend that I purchased a special case of beer for wasn't drinking. I asked why she said because at the beginning of the night the bartender said they didn't have any. she had 5 beers. This is where it goes really bad. Monday, I returned because someone had packed an easel in my things, I was returning it to them. I did not get a name of the man I spoke to, but I told him I had some concerned to tell him about and he immediately was defensive. He said it isn't that you didn't have fun because you did. I'm the type that has fun anywhere, so I said just that, I have fun no matter what. I told him courtyard wasn't unlocked he said it was at 8. I said we were still eating at 8 and that I hadn't noticed until 1030 or 11 so he was not correct. He said he didn't have a clock on him, but I was wrong and I had use of my courtyard. umm at 11 when my party was over and only when I noticed. also, no waterfalls or fireplace going. he said uplighting was on. I said didn't mention that because I knew it was on. he said it was because of the rain that stopped at 730. I told him about my friend's beer and he said the other two beers were gone. Later I found out this was a liie as well but . I said again wasn't talking about the other two. Just the one and he said 18 beers were gone. She had 5 and another girl had 1 . He said he counted himself and brought me the 6 pack to take home. people later said how staff kept taking full glasses and the wine from the tables beefore finished. All that and I am called a liar. I don't think I'm very difficult to deal with, but I would not waste your time with this venue. There are too many honest venues out there and you will get everything you paid for. and not be talked down to, when what I was saying was not out of line.

Owner Norman Bolden renovated and reconstructed this building into *the* event space for South Siders and anybody seeking a lovely, centrally located and well-appointed space. Its appeal lies in its loft-style charm -- a split-level, open floor plan boasting gleaming mahogany floors and exposed brick that you can pretty much decorate any way you want for your event. After attending almost a dozen birthday parties, holiday parties, wedding receptions and fraternity and sorority events at Room 43, I knew that this was the only place where I wanted to hold my dad's 80th birthday party. It was the right decision. Rental rates are reasonable for the space that you get (there are two rooms to choose from) and a variety of chairs and tables are included for both the upstairs and downstairs. You supply your own linens, food, DJ and decorations. The onsite staff is also incredibly helpful. The facilities manager Richard is really great -- flexible and accommodating for all of the last-minute changes that come with party planning. The 80+ guests at my dad's party loved the venue. It's easily accessible from North or South from the Oakwood exit on Lake Shore Drive, and also the 43rd Street exit on the Dan Ryan. There is plenty of street parking as well. Lucky for the owner that he was on-site and actually stayed awhile for my dad's party, because several guests were so impressed they inquired about having their own events there. One thing that some have complained about: You can't bring your own liquor, and unless you pay for a tab, your guests are subject to a cash bar. I don't honestly find this unusual, and I paid a tab that allowed guests to enjoy open bar for about 3 hours. In addition to being a party space, Room 43 is also home to the Hyde Park Jazz Society, and you can catch all of their shows there on Sunday evenings. Anyone who reads me, by now, knows that I am big on supporting local businesses, and for the quality, service and location, I absolutely recommend Room 43. Room 43 is an emerging destination spot and represents the best of the "new" Kenwood-Oakland/Bronzeville community. I would not hesitate to give them my business again!
