They asked for any Pinterest images for reference, and I gave them a general idea and they went with it. They worked with me to ensure that I liked what they were doing and asked for constant feedback. On the day of the wedding, we had them come out to Saline. They arrived promptly and took little to no time to setup. They were amazingly fast but in a good way. They replicated with ease what we had come up with for my trial and worked with my bridesmaids, sister-in-law, and niece to give them what they wanted. We finished far and beyond ahead of schedule, and that was a fantastic feeling. It really helped in the flow of our day so we never felt rushed. As mother of the bride, they did such a horrible job on my hair I had to come home and re-wash it and style it myself for my daughter's wedding. It is so expensive and that money is wasted. Absolutely love this place! I have been going here and using their line of make up for years. They did an amazing job on my hair and make up for my sons wedding. People were taking photos of the back of my hair in church. I found Rachel and Courtney extremely helpful, talented and knowledgeable as how to make someone my age look natural and not over done for this special day. I have also taken their glaminar class with my daughter and Janelle taught us how to apply make up for every day wear. Very fun girls night out. If you want the best, I highly recommend this place. I emailed and tried to book them for my wedding...they asked about a time...I made a suggestion...it sounded promising. After six days, they finally got back to me. I guess after asking around they found that they were unable to accommodate me...on a Wednesday (a couple months out)...during their posted hours. They called me back AFTER reading my review on The Knot. They left a voicemail telling me all the ways in which I was wrong. Also, they disputed the review left on The Knot. Classic. The girls did a great job on my hair and makeup. They both looked a little different than on my trial day- but overall everything with me went well. However, after the wedding some of my bridesmaids expressed their concern with their hair and makeup. of course they took time on me, as I was the bride, but my girls felt that it was over priced for a poor outcome. Many had to redo their makeup behind the scenes and fix/change their hair completely when the cameras were off them. I was sad my girls did not like what they had paid for. read more

Buyer beware! If you are a woman of color, the stylists here don't have experience working with a variety of hair types and skin colors/textures. (Their Instagram and marketing photos are evidence of this) They also required me to book before my bridal trial (which should have been a red flag) and I had to go back multiple times due to really bad hair trials. I ultimately decided to walk away and forfeit my deposit because the experience was so bad due to the stylist not knowing how to work with thicker ethnic hair. read more

The Makeup loft does an amazing job, I'm so happy I went with them for both my wedding hair/makeup as well as my bridesmaids. I'm quite sure the Makeup Loft does fabulous work to any bride on her big day. I have no doubt that their 5 star rating shows the skills and services they provide. Unfortunately for the out of town bride, Jamie was not clear about explaining that booking a date over the phone with a credit card was possible. I asked for her to send a contract in the beginning of February and then I had to call her back 2 weeks later for the contract, because it was not sent. Yesterday I had a relative call about the contract and pay the deposit. They explained someone booked my wedding date in the beginning of the week & they couldn't help me. The only other accommodation was to arrive at 6 a.m. and finish at 8:30 a.m. What bride would want to wake up early on their wedding day & sit for 5 hours with their hair and makeup done, in the middle of the summer?! When we explained we weren't happy, Jamie had an attitude that they receive many bookings for brides & this mix up was not significant enough to hurt the Makeup Loft $$$. I think it is great to run a successful business and receive many awards and that is one thing The Makeup Loft should be proud of. In the future though, this company should own up to their mistake instead of making excuses and covering it up with their ego. A word of advice : Please do not delay in sending the contract to your Bride. Be clear that you can take credit card deposits over the phone. Send a clearer email that states these policies not only in the email but the contract, as well. If I would have know this, I would have been a happy potential customer, who would have their appointment booked way in advanced. Instead of being given an inconvenient time, to be re- accommodated for Jamie's mistake of communication & laziness of failure to send a contract a.s.a.p. the first time I requested one. My relative called the makeup loft to ask for the owner & Jamie acted like she couldn't hear her and had hung up on my relative. When my relative tried to call back a 2nd time to ask for the owner, they had turned on the answering machine. Once again I would like to be clear on my thoughts and I understand the Makeup Loft had no obligation to keep my time & day. But Jamie needs to be more clear on these policies and have this written in the contract and email to potential customers. The least the Makeup Loft could have done was given me a courtesy call the day after they sent the second contract or followed up with a deposit inquiry. In general The Makeup Loft disappoints me on customer service, lack of communications & ego. read more

This was a highly uncomfortable experience where the esthetician said she didn't know why I would have it done at all if I didn't like the end result. -Good question with my deepest regret. Wonderful experience! Janelle did a terrific job with my makeup, I've honestly never felt prettier. But I think the real highlight of their team is Courtney, who did my hair, my mom's hair, my sister (MOH)'s hair, and one of my bridesmaids as well. Courtney did an amazing job following exactly what we asked for, and even threw in a few suggestions-- but at the end of the day, we could always tell her if we wanted anything changed or modified, and she was completely kind and open to it. She was the sweetest, nicest, and most talented hairstylist I've ever had for a formal event! The only reason I am doing three stars and not one is because I have only tried one service in this beautiful place. And I'm hoping that nothing else is as horribly done as my eyelash extensions were done by Lindsay. My eyelashes when she was done were going every which way. I figured they would end up laying flat once they settled in day or so (although none of my other applications looked that bad) but that wasn't the case. I didn't have to worry about it too long though because they were all pretty much off within 7 days. I have always been able to go 2-3 weeks minimum between fills. Would definitely advise people to check out the place for make up and such as the place is beautiful and the girl at the desk was super sweet and friendly. Janelle is a natural when it comes to makeup application. She knows her products, knows her techniques and knows what looks best on every skin type. I am one of those girls that never really learned how to do their makeup and if I go into a makeup store, I kind of walk around puzzled at all the choices. As mother of the groom with short hair, I would not recommend going there. They do an excellent job with long hair but don't do well with short hair. If I would have had time, I would have washed my hair and re-did it myself, but for the money I paid I just left it, I felt very uncomfortable at the wedding because my hair fell flat!
