This mall is very crowded inside and has a good selection of stores that I go to. It got Macys, JCPenney, Uniqlo, H&M, Victoria's Secret, Old Navy, and Gap. I wish they brought Primark and Zara to this mall. Those are the stores they need to add on. It got the Apple Store too so you know this mall is a hip and trendy one in the Bronx. There are also many stores on a strip mall around the building including AMC, Burlington, and Marshall's. Thankfully this mall got Starbucks because I was very hooked on their coffee. It is a big mall with 3 levels and since I was not a regular I was lost a few times and getting to one destination from another took forever. Also finding the nearest bathroom was tough. Had to resort to the directory. Thankfully there were escalators and elevators all around. read more

Truly enjoy coming to this mall, especially on weekdays to avoid crowds. It's decorated beautifully and very modern. Plenty of parking here and overall nice for the Bronx. It does get crowded on the weekends but that's normal for all malls. I especially like the way they decorate for the holidays here read more

This is an indoor mall with plenty of stores to shop in. They also have plenty of other stores outside of this malls location. I would say it's an ok place to shop in. I prefer the malls near my area, because I don't really like to shop for indoor places. Although it does come in handy on a bad weather day such as the day we visited. Many food options, many stores, and some fun things to do with your family. I don't know if I would give it a thumbs up, but I would say if your in this area or live in this area, than thumbs up for you, because you have a decent mall to shop instead of traveling to the city. read more

MASTER WOK in the food court is the WORST. They call it lo mein but truly it's vermicelli and it's very soggy because it has been keeping warm, all day long. Chicken and broccoli - alot of broccoli, 3 small pieces of chicken, swimming in salty, brown sauce. You'll need alot of water to swallow this horrible food. RIP OFF AND A WASTE OF MONEY read more

Bay plaza has great place for tacos so good and they have great Phillies cheese steaks also and the cookies shop is good too

Lots of parking (1800 spaces) but costs a flat $3 fee for the day. Bus stops are plenty, and the pay stations don't all work which was a pain. Ground floor parking isn't always clear which stores they are closest to by section, labeling could be better. Some stores aren't connected internally to the mall so that's a pain. Inside you have a theater, mall doors court, some restaurants and many stores. Escalators aren't placed well to flow, instead you have to double back periodically. Overall visited better laid out malls like Palisades. read more

If I would've had to base my review on Black Friday, it would be at four, because this place definitely seems a little bit chaotic, but what mall it isn't chaotic on Black Friday. The mall does have a vast selection of stores, and it's surprisingly well lit and well organized, especially when you consider the surrounding neighborhood. It seems to have a lot of bathrooms, and the people in the kiosks aren't as annoying as their counterparts in other stores. I always leave happy when I go here. Parking is fine too. read more

This mall was so needed they have everything in a perfect location. It's a great place to shop and eat. This is big for the Bronx having these shop all together is so convenient. They have all my favorites shops Aldo's. Bath and body works, champs sports,forever 21, h&m, gap , gnc, Macy's Jc penny's even a T-Mobile the list goes on. I think it's great to do your holiday shopping here and your every day shopping as well I didn't find it over crowded. They also have great restaurants for you get hungry afterwards. This is a nice "suburban shopping " experience in the Bronx lol. Is nice cause you can drive or take bus and not have to go all the way down town and avoid all that traffic. Been a while since I've been at the mall but they have definitely changed a lot since I've been there. Ulta isn't there anymore along with Red Robin and a few other stores. They have however added an apple store which was nice. We also noticed some of the stores swapped their location. It's a cool mall. Glad we have 1 decent mall in the Bronx ! read more

This is my local mall. I have been going here since 2014 when it first opened and I expect to keep going for years to come. The stores are pretty basic. Your standard Macy's, JCP, Victoria Secret, Foot Locker, Express, etc.. This location is kind of a place you go to when you need something quick or for someone else. The Mall itself has 3 floors which features everything from a Cinnabon to a gym! It's fairly clean but I usually go there for their chain restaurants. Before the mall came to co-op there were not many options for a dine-in experience at Bay Plaza. This was a much-welcomed addition. I recommend checking it out if you have time on a weekend or know exactly what you want. It's best to call in advance because this isn't the place you go to for those hard to find items you may see at the retailer's online website. read more

This mall should be called Mall of impulsive shoppers heaven. You can't comfortably walk anywhere without being harassed to by some sh't you don't want or need. It's like going to the bizzare markets where they penny handle you it's so annoying. I got lost and took another route to where I had to go just to be left alone! read more

This mall brings great value to the Bronx because we normally do not get nice things here. I visited recently and went shopping to buy some clothes for my daughter and found amazing deals. After shopping for a few hours. I went upstairs to the food court and there was a Kiosk that sold cupcakes called "CupcakeMe!". That's my favorite treat so I indulged a little by buying a dozen. I found out the owner also does custom cakes and will definitely buy a cake made by her. I will be back to this mall. The kiosk Cupcake Me! This mall is a great addition to the Bronx- gives you an out of town feel with its smooth paved walkways and building exteriors. You have a large variety of places to shop. Bath & Body Works is one of my faves. There's a nail salon, candle shop and the Ulta store. Great for a day out for shopping (be prepared to spend, this is no kind of outlet) &/or browsing. The food options are there Red Robin, Joes Crab Shack, Olive Garden and the food court w/ Thai, Dairy Queen and Nathan's to name a few. I'd say if they got Mexican and Soul Food/Seafood joints in there, it'll be a super plus. read more

This mall is very different than what I remembered when I last went about 10 years ago. They have a full indoor mall and numerous stores in different strip-mall formations. They have all the chain stores in every other shopping mall in the five boroughs, but it's cleaner and newer. They even have a food court. If you're looking for larger restaurants, they have a Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Joe's Crab Shack and Red Robin. We found things at this mall that we couldn't find anywhere else in the city. It was a long drive but we will be back. read more

This mall has changed a lot since i last came here in the 90s. Lol. It is huge, has a couple stores. It still feels like it's undone, but the transformation is beautiful. There weren't many stores for what i was looking for, but for women it has almost everything you could need. It's also a beautiful mall. My 26 year old daughter has special needs. She likes to mall walk for exercise, then get a froyo from cups, or sometimes spend her allowance on a stuffed animal or other treasure. The kiosk vendors at this mall make her uncomfortable, they have even pulled her by the arm over to their booths. She actually bought something she didn't want to get a vendor off her back. That's harassment, and I don't appreciate it. I have seen and heard others complain about it as well, and I think the mall should make rules about how kiosk vendors can interact with guests (ie no stepping in front of them to block their path, no pulling them by the arm, no following them, especially after being told "no thank you" several times). Other than that, the mall is clean and has a good layout with a vast variety of retailers and food spots, so it has the potential to be a positive shopping experience. read more

This is a basic mall...nothing fancy. I mostly visit Macy's or House of Hoops. It's not a mall I would hang out in. In and out. Parking is plentiful and cheap if you have to pay. Don't come here with high expectations...it is what it is. read more

This is a very nice shopping area and mall. There are other places and store in the area not just this mall. There are different shops inside from Macy's to Spencers. There are bathrooms everywhere and also good food to eat on the top floor. I'm definitely going to review one of those places very soon but I had to go shopping and it wasn't crowded. They had security and police in the area so it felt very safe. read more

This is a lovely mall. The best that ever happened in the Bronx. Keep up the excellent work. I don't have to go to Manhattan or Westchester for a Victoria's Secret or Bath & Body Works. I bought a pair of jeans and shoes from the Gap. Suddenly feel like a fashionista. What makes this mall so special is because it is brand new and that the Bronx finally has upscale shops. Who would expect to see high end stores like Michael Kors, Swarovski , Aldo, Clark's, etc in the Bronx? I am looking forward for Express, Forever 21 and Ulta to open soon. And some food. I'm glad this mall came to the Bronx. A lot of residents in the borough have gone to either Manhattan or Westchester for good shopping and I'll admit I'm one of them. I've visited the mall twice since opening and while there are some aspects I really like about it, there are others that need to happen or need to be improved. The two anchors of this mall are JCPenney (which was a free standing store before the built) and a new Macy's that was built with the mall. The Macy's is beautiful and definitely a plus. Before this one was built one would have to go to Yonkers or Parkchester so I'm glad there's one closer to me. The mall itself is spacious and the layout is straightforward so it's easy to find your way around. The stores within the mall are a mixed bag. There are some higher-end tenants like Michael Kors and H&M which is nice to see but there are also some lower end and unknown brand stores which send mixed signals. Plus on the top floor there's some sort of store that sells magazines/beverages/candy like you would find at an airport; I'm not sure what that's doing in a mall. There are also a lot of empty tenant spaces, but I'll assume because the mall is new it hasn't leased them all yet. The stores overall are okay but there needs to be more of them to attract more people. The food court is perfectly placed on the top level; it's big and open but there needs to be more selection - there are only a handful of eateries open. You can also walk out to a "mall village" where there's a makeup store, an Olive Garden, and a Red Robin. I like the idea of this but it needs to be developed more. Also, while the mall itself charges for parking in the garage - the outdoor shopping center surrounding the mall does not so you're bound to find people trying to cheat the system by parking in the shopping center and going to the mall. Overall, I'm giving the Bay Plaza Mall a 3 right now since it's new. Hopefully more stores and eateries will open up and make it more complete. I hope this mall turns into something great, but we'll see. read more

The Bronx was in desperate need of a real mall for us Uptown folks (Harlem, Bronx, Yonkers/Westchester County) Its a real completion to Bay Plaza bc before the mall the plaza felt empty & missing a piece of the puzzle...A MALL. Really happy I can head over here to pick up something @ Macys, Bath & Body, could watch a movie after shopping, pick up a book @ Barnes & Noble or have a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants in the mall or its vicinity. Just come @ a good time like one of your off days in the mornings bc traffic (in the mall & on the streets) tends to get ridiculous read more

This review is not to totally condemn Bay Plaza Mall. But, I believe it is a way to get attention to some issues that must be addressed: 1. Customer service at most of the stores need great improvement. There must be education on the rights of the consumer from managerial staff who need inservice also. 2. Unable to get jobs unless you speak Spanish. Very small segment of customers monolingual especially in the Northeast section of the Bronx where Bay Plaza is. So why the illegal hiring practices. It's called discrimination. It is so obvious by just looking at the employees. Unfair for residents who live in the community. 3. Substandard apparel offered in this mall as compared to same stores in other areas of NY. Again, unfair. You think we don't know the difference? If anyone cares, there needs to be complete investigation. read more

The New York and Company located in The Mall at Bay Plaza is the worst. The store is unkempt, lines are long and only two people working the register and on top of that they go on break and don't put another cashier on the register. The lack of professionalism is disgusting. The workers dress as is if they're in the street with belly shirts on. This wouldn't dare take place at the location on 59th st. Well, another Barnes and Noble bit the dust. I seriously don't understand why every other week, a Barnes and Noble location closes in the city. The stores are almost always full and the communities clearly love them. Barnes and Noble had a myriad of books, including test prep, learning a foreign language, travel, cooking, self-help, comics, and too many others to list. Now, if people want access to those books then they'll either have to order them online (which will likely be an issue for people who don't have a credit or debit card), or travel to the Barnes and Noble location on the Upper East Side. The Bronx Library on Fordham Road is a joke. Besides the loss of the Barnes and Noble, Bay Plaza is a decent mall. There are a lot of popular chain restaurants as well as the usual variety of sporting goods, sneakers, clothing, and miscellaneous stores. The mall has a play area that's basically a fake Chuckie Cheese. There's also a movie theater outside of the mall, as well as some chain department stores and supermarkets. Bay Plaza is definitely worth the trip if you live in the Bronx or Westchester, but I'm very disappointed that they closed Barnes and Noble. read more

I love how it's a new mall but otherwise it has its cons as well. It's easily accessible from the highway and it's super huge! The only thing about parking in the mall is that you have to pay $3 for all day parking. Not a problem for most people but still there's plenty of other malls that don't charge for parking. A drivers beware! I was behind a 85 year old lady who didn't realize she had to pay so she kept ramming into the drop down pay gate thinking it was going to open automatically. I had to back out of the exit and find a different exit and when I passed her she was still at the gate. The mall is large but the food court was limited. And you'll also realize that most stores are a hot mess because people don't care to put stuff back. And also beware of moms and their screaming and crying babies. Everywhere I turned there was a screaming kid. Even on line buying stuff or in the food court. read more

The chicken is average, it's mall food. I wasn't expecting a 5 star meal. What bothered me was that when the food was done, the cook gestured to the open container on the high glass counter to grab my food. Like damn, you can't even close it for me? As a Bronxite first let me say seeing a mall like this being built locally is amazing. The Bronx is usually the forgotten borough and to see the revenue it will generate for us is awesome. As a borough we've also majorly lacked shopping options over the years in comparison to say Queens or Brooklyn. The Mall is still in its infancy so of course it won't be at 100 percent yet. Many of the retail spaces have yet to be rented out. It will take time in the first year to get out kickstarted, people need to understand that. Crowded? Yeah at times especially weekends, but its still new so everyone is anxious to stop by, it's slowed down a lot since the grand opening. As far as the 'Ratchet' comments...look its a public space in an urban environment. To be expected. But honestly I didn't see anyone being too rowdy or 'ratchet' and i'm there at least once a week (shopaholic who lives local...bad combo) But back to the mall...Its really a beautiful well designed space. Clean, pristine. Its great to have restaurants like Olive Garden, Joes, Red Robin here too. And the forever21 has been an awesome much needed addition. All in all its a great mall and will only improve as more stores come to the mall! read more

I really want to love this Mall but it's really basic. The clothes selection in the stores are horrible. Like: Forever21, H&M, Macy's, GAP, Old Navy, you can clearly see the difference when you go into one of those stores in Manhattan. Now I know These stores are much bigger in Manhattan and obviously will have more stuff, but I feel like we get the worst of the worse over here. We deserve some nice stuff too. And the food court is down right HORRIBLE, I suggest eating anywhere outside the mall or anywhere but the food court. It's messy, loud and ugly. You can park outside for free and there are tons of other stores too. read more

I love the how we finally have a mall ! But there is not much in there. The food court is not big at all. Malls always have so many different food places. They have the known stores like Victoria secret, H&M, JCPenny. But no Yankee Candle, or and tea stores. Nothing small and fun. I notice they have a big gym in there confused on that. So I've been here maybe a total of 4 times. I waited a long time after the mall first opened to avoid the crowds. There are many stores open that allow you to come here rather than trek to Yonkers or Manhattan which is a plus. They have a Macy's and Victoria's Secret which is helpful. I'm sure they will add many other stores in the future but as it is, it's pretty nice. You also have the option to go to the original strip mall if there is something that you haven't found in the mall itself. I'm not going to review the outside car traffic because that has nothing to do with the mall itself (I am just glad that Barnes and Noble is still open). The atmosphere is really nice and they seem to keep the place clean. I thought they were putting a Cheesecake Factory there but right now there is a Red Robin's, Olive Garden and joe's Crab Shack. They seem to do well since you will notice a line outside of the latter two places if you go later in the day or on weekends which is to be expected since the nearest of either places is in Manhattan. Now as far as the crowd goes, maybe I'm more pragmatic than others but here are my thoughts on the crowds: 1) there are multitudes of schools in the surrounding areas, so you have tons of school aged people coming there after school and sometimes even during school; 2) through the mall is in a pretty good/highly decent area, there are people from all areas of the bronx as well as from other areas like Mount Vernon, some parts of Pelham and White Plains coming to this mall. 3) During the summer time, kids/teens who have nothing to do come here to get out of the heat and "hang out". Should they perhaps be doing something more constructive with their time? I would say yes, however, there is really nothing that security can do unless they kick all the minors out which would likely lead to some very upset parents causing an uproar. 4) will there be some bad apples who come to the mall? Some hardly dressed females and rowdy males? Yes, because that happens in most malls, like Green Acres, The Galleria, Woodbury Commons, Franklin Mills, Tanger at Riverhead and Arundell Mills. I frequent The Westchester (different from the Galleria) regularly along with many other malls and shopping areas and still see the same thing, but since it is more distant than this Bay Plaza mall, you may likely see less of it there at the Westchester and more at Bay Plaza. So needless to say you are definitely going to have a diverse crowd at times because all types of people from those who are a bit uncouth to those who are more reserved and composed as far as behavior. I hope the mall thrives and I hope they open up other stores that would alleviate traveling to the city when you don't want to. But in all I think it is pretty good so far. read more

Great mall. I have been in the Bronx area for about 6 years now and having been going to Bay Plaza long before that, about 10 years or so (Remember Ponderosa!!!). I absolutely love what they did with the place. The movie theater is simply wonderful compared to how it was years ago. Mall is very clean and well kept. The mall is great as a lot of the store that were outside moved into there such as Old Navy. One major thing I admire is that they now have a lot of free activities for children in the neighborhood such as the recent Breakfast with Santa and Halloween event before that. Breakfast with Santa was free and each child (hundreds I am sure) received a stuffed animal, additional toy, a muffin and apple juice, which I adored. Nice to see major shopping establishments giving back. Only issue, if that at all, is the indoor parking lot which charges $3 to park when many people park freely in the Barnes and Noble/KMart parking lot and walk across.
