And the kindness didn't stop there--the nurse (I didn't catch her name, but I loved hearing she's an owl fan!) was so warm, friendly, and attentive, which made such a difference when I was feeling so anxious. You can feel the genuine compassion and heart from everyone in this office. Parking here...is bad. The small lot in the back of the building has about 23 legit marked parking…read morespaces, and 1 disabled space. I counted 6 vehicles parked along the driveway in unmarked spaces. All 30 spaces (minus 1 that was blocked off) were filled. Despite my waiting in the lot and circling the block, no street or parking lot spaces became available. I waited and circled for 23 minutes for an appt at 1015am. At 1023a I called the tel# listed on the Yelp page and waited on hold for 8 minutes then accepted the auto return callback offer and at 15 minutes the call arrived. I explained I had an appt, but couldn't find parking so I went on with my day. Turns out, the return caller was from the call center, not the office so despite my offering feedback for the unsatisfactory parking situation, I was asked to share it with a suggestion/complaint telephone number. The rep offered to reschedule the appt for the next day...or May...or the location in Venice. I asked if parking would be available (rhetorical question). I declined her offer and explained I'd make other arrangements. This was a despicable experience and I only needed something simple, I can't even imagine what folks do if their needs are more urgent or critical. I'm unclear if there are better times where the parking lot is less busy. This is my 2nd experience at this location and twice now, I struck out on parking and missed both appts. There won't be a third time.

Update: valet parking is now $6. It's convenient, friendly and speedy. There are several spaces for…read moredisabled visitors/patients; a couple in the front near the main entrance and quite a few on the east side and a few/50 yards from the main entrance. Valet is free for anyone with a disabled placard. Outpatient services, diagnostic, imaging, nuclear studies are mostly handled by the Outpatient Center in the REAR of the hospital at 5215 Torrance Bl (the main entrance address is 4101 Torrance Bl). Confirm before you arrive or you'll likely have a long trek to get to the right location. The salad bar in the café is decent in a pinch, especially if you don't want to leave the property for a meal. Self parking is free, but it's busy and it will often be blocked to incoming traffic because the lots are...full. Patience is necessary. Staff is friendly and helpful, which was welcome when I took a wrong turn out of the elevators. A worker must have noticed the perplexed look on my face and offered to help before I even knew i needed help.

During the first week of meds, I emailed him via the Santa Clara Valley Health, "My Health Online: email. No answer. I found out at my next visit that he doesn't get those emails for "some reason" and he gave e a card with his personal email address, which I have since found to be incorrect. He also gave me his cell phone #, and I thought what a caring thing this was. Well, I left a message at 5:30 that I was ready to begin the new med, according to his instructions. He had asked me to call. I was going through horrible withdrawals which he promised I wouldn't go through. He called me back the next day at 1:30 in the afternoon, when I was unable to come to the phone saying he was :"just checking up on me." This man abuses time with his patients. It is a chronic thing. So far, I have not waited LESS than an hour and a half. I asked his nurse how far apart his patients are booked. She said an hour! This is abusive to me. When I told him so, he threatened to throw me out of the program. Tonight, I have 102 fever and I'm not sure I can take aspirin with these new meds. I tried to email. The email came back, it's incorrect. My fever did rise to 103. degrees and I realized I was going through withdrawal. I left another message for Dr. Chavez a little over a week ago. He called me back today, asking me what other drugs he prescribed for me and their dosages. He had waken me and it took me a bit to get my wits about me, as one of the extreme symptoms I am experiencing is severe disorientation and hallucinations. The longer he had to wait, the more he talked and and the louder his voice got. I was trying to finish a sentence. I had lookup up Buprenorphine online and it said a patient with COPD should NEVER take this drug. I have copd and another problem with my eyes that should prevent me from taking this drug. Dr. Chavez YELLED at me from the lounge in the airport "not to read anything or listen to anyone to just do what he says" and kept repeating that until he was screaming so loud his voice was cracking! This is a bad man. I read in one of the reviews that he sleeps between patients and in fact on his own block he writes that he used to be addicted to opioids and got himself off using this regime. I suspect he still uses the drugs. I cannot explain his out of place outburst any other way.

I had a bit of a wait to see my doctor but people need to realize what a change the medical profession has had post pandemic and that most issues are insurance or government regulatory related. I.e. if the regulatory push lowers the age some one needs to be screen then the amount of new patients that are within that age bracket increases the patient-to-doctor ratio. Regardless I had a good experience with my physical today and I didn't have to do the "cough" test so that was a bonus. I feel rating a medical professional organizations is really a zero sum game as it depends on the person and their conditions. Reality is that medical professionals work hard and are not perfect but they are doing what they can for their patients. Be kind to your nurse and doctor!

I tried to conf-call with the insurance company and the billing department and all I got from the Providence call representative was a terrible attitude as if the fact that they wrongly charged me was ok and she would not give the expected time line of when the issue will be resolved until the insurance representative asks her again. My recommendation is to NOT pay the fees on site and have them send the bills because I had multiple occasions where they did not bill correctly. MyChart system is great where you get to communicate with the nurse practitioner or the doctor regarding your visits or results over the website.
