Mike was at Tom's for years, then he bought that business, then he moved to a new location. Anyway, I go the best haircut in years after trying many in the Spokane and Spokane Valley area. My kid is NOT a fan of haircuts, but David took to it like a champ. This time was better, after my kid ran out of tears and snot, we convinced him it 'wasn't that bad' to have a haircut. David is sooooo patient and understanding. He's a good ol' boy playing rock music and loving his neighbors. Holy cow it's like a giant family, all of the customers he has. He knows everyone by name, they all love him. Here's what I loved as a mom: this is a family friendly place. You won't find posters of half naked women anywhere, just good ol Americana and a cat or dog depending on the day. He has nice hot towels when you're done. It's a hole in the wall place, not anything fancy at all. No appointments, but he'll put your name on 'the list' and you can show up when you need to. We love this place.

Today however, I was 10 minutes early as per usual for my appointments. He still had a customer in his chair. After 35 minutes of waiting, he finished his other customer and indicated that he was running late and he'd be right back after going to the coffee shop next door. He was there for 10 more minutes and came back with a plate of some food items. I told him, after waiting for what was now 45 minutes that I needed to be out the door in 20 minutes as I had another appointment. His comment, after my appointment was already 35 minutes past..... "I won't rush your cut". I told him "that doesn't change the fact that I have somewhere else to go and have to be out by 2:15. "I won't rush your cut". I walked out the door. I will not be returning. If you can't be respectful of my time, how do you expect anyone to be respectful of yours. Never going back again.

Easily one of the worst barber experiences I've had. While I was in the chair, the barbers were loudly talking amongst themselves, casually using the word "retard" and discussing how the world is supposedly run by pedophiles. Then I mentioned that the last shop I went to was in a wonderful Salvadoran neighborhood in DC where the barbers didn't speak much English. Another barber chimed in, "Great, the nation's capital and they don't speak English." Casual racism apparently comes with the haircut. Unfortunately, the haircut itself was just as bad. I specifically asked for a burst fade. The entire cut lasted maybe 20 minutes, he left a ridiculous amount of bulk in the back, and there was essentially no blending. When I asked whether he was planning to blend the back, he rolled his eyes and exchanged a look with another barber, which I could clearly see in the mirror. At that point, I abruptly ended the haircut. The barber told me he'd only been cutting hair for two years, and it showed. Between the terrible haircut, the attitude, and the offensive conversations happening openly around clients, this place feels like it hires for the aesthetic rather than professionalism or skill. Quite possibly one of the best haircuts I've ever had…read more Alyssa was my stylist and really knocked it out of the park. She did a major touchdown on my hair. This haircut was a grandslam. The customer service was like pulling the goalie for a power play and doing a hat trick. I've had some haircuts at other places that were out of bounds, like my hair was being offensively fouled. Some stylists act like it's the bottom of the 9th and they're down already like 10 runs and have no one on base so why even try? Not Alyssa. Alyssa was calm and collected and calculated. My hair was getting quite shaggy and was a lot of stress to deal with, I'm sure. But Alyssa stayed focused, just like someone landing a half court 3 point game winning shot at the buzzard. It was incredible. Alyssa trimmed my eye brows, my beard and, of course, my hair. She took her time making sure seemingly every hair was adequately addressed and proportional. Even as customers came in, filling up the waiting list roster, Alyssa stayed focused on my hair and didn't rush me,, understanding my hair was in front of her and she wasn't going to let it go until it was absolutely perfect. This was seriously an insanely good haircut. Alyssa should be renegotiating her contract for a raise. She is an incredibly gifted asset to this establishment. Next time you are drafting a hairstylist, choose Alyssa. She goes above and beyond. TLDR ; sports clips is a sports themed haircut establishment. I don't follow most sports so that's not important to me, but you can watch your sports here if so inclined to do so while getting a hair cut. Haircuts are around $25. Alyssa is the stylist you want.
