Due to some medical circumstances, I found myself close to downtown Coeur D'Alene yesterday and needing a haircut wanted to try Andy's for some time. This afforded me that opportunity. If you are after a great men's haircut, you will not be disappointed. If you are craving conversation with that haircut, mask and all, you will be disappointed. I tried to start conversations with both barber and patrons without success. They were not interested. So next haircut time, I will seek out my usual stylist in Post Falls where the haircut is excellent and the conversation lively even if it is more expensive. Conversation worth it to me. read more

Ok, here's the deal. I'm particular about my hair cutting experience. I don't necessarily want to go to a salon, but some of the places catering to men seem to have hair cutters that don't really know how to handle my thick, wavy, Scottish hair. So invariably I end up with some chintzy cut that does not suit me. Andy the proprietor and barber asked me what I wanted and after giving him a vague idea he delivered! No frills, no gimmicks, no bs, just a great haircut and straight razor neck shave for 15 bucks. Better yet no wait on Tuesday afternoon. That's the rub, by writing this more wankers are sure to start visiting Andy, but that's also how to keep him in business, a double edged sword. But I'd rather have to wait than see him not succeed. I will be back to this awesome shop with two old fashioned barber chairs placed on the classic black and white checkerboard floor, all thats missing is the barber pole out front, unless I missed it. I recently relocated from mid Atlantic Virginia and having been going through the process of finding businesses that will meet my service needs, i.e., primary care physician, realtor, and barber. Well....I can scratch the layer of my list with Owner Andy Dickinson at the Chop Shop. I'm not much for salons with all that those establishes bring to a customer. I prefer a relaxed and inviting environment which what can be found at Andy's Chop Shop. I would describe it like a man oasis for a solid hair cut and beard trim. Best haircut I've had in decades. I've been a regular for several months. I have cut my wife's hair for 20 years so I'm familiar with some barbers who don't really cut the hair evenly. Andy takes his time and his degree of evenness really shows. And the neck shave is a dying art form. Sometimes you have to wait but it's a small price to pay for a REAL haircut! Well this place is still a 3 star establishment...had Andy this time. He can cut hair better than the other guy there..... but come to find out he isn't technically a barber but a cosmologist, so he can't use a razor on my face or neck. When I go to a real barber I expect to have everything done (includes lines for my beard) I will continue my search for a real barber. read more

Love getting my hair cut here! Andy always does a perfect job, and it's taken me years to find someone who can cut my hair and get it right every time. While not perfect (never is) I found that Andy was professional, quick, and did what I wanted. I would recommend this for any guy. My hair was winter long.. but with the hot weather already.. Great locally owned barber shop. 15 plus tip for cut and neck shave. I walked in just as Andy was finishing with someone and was seated right away. I think he mainly takes walk ins. Stopped in here when I was in the area for business and boy am I sad I don't live in Coeur d'Alene just so I could have a consistently solid haircut. after traveling a lot the last few years , i dread walking into a new barbershop/salon cuz im fairly confident i wont get a good haircut and possibly a real bad one....i received one of the best haircuts in my life from andy ! he could tell just by looking and when i said keep it shorter on sides and leave it longer on top , he knew just how to cut it .....its a shame this guy only charges 15 bucks for a haircut cuz its easily worth 25 in this venue (more in bigger city)....if your a local check this place out , and if your traveling through rest assured hes not gonna mess it up ! .....id suggest you get there when he opens cuz this is a walk in place .....barbershop style , comfortable waiting chairs , nice.......5 stars for sure !!! read more
