We had a wonderful experience with Ralph and he installed a BEAUTIFUL mantle. We have not yet been able to paint it, so what you're seeing here is simply the raw high quality wood and Ralph's even higher quality handiwork. We will update the review with new pictures once we paint it. I contacted Ralph and he got back to me the same day. He told me to go through his work to see if there were any projects I liked, while also happily looking at all of the images I sent him of various mantles that I had found online and liked. We settled on a custom mantle similar to one he'd built before. Ralph then came over to measure and look at the space in person. I can't say enough what a sweet good guy he was. Just a really lovely person and very dedicated craftsmen with a very fine attention to detail. A few days later he came over to install the piece. He was happy to accommodate me when I had him change the height of the mantel, and he didn't fully install it until I was perfectly pleased with it. The whole process took just a few hours. The results speak for themselves. I found his price very competitive and a bargain for the quality of the work that he does. I had seen something I liked in his photos, so I simply gave him the measurements and he sent me photos of some options from his workshop. ROCK STAR job!! I'm redecorating my house with a Mid-Century Modern look and feel. I had an old, tired mantel on my fireplace and didn't want to replace the stone surround. So I called Ralph (The Mantel Guy) and had him come over to give me some ideas. Within a few minutes, he came up with this cool panel design which allowed me to keep the existing surround while still creating the look and feel I wanted. His prices were so reasonable ($600) that I ended up giving him s few extra dollars. He's a nice guy and his workmanship is incredible. I posted a picture so you can see what I'm talking about. I went to some local fireplace retailers (Okell's in Hermosa and Wilshire Fireplace in Los Angeles). We wanted to update our fire place because it was old and ugly. We went to Home Depot, Lowes and Amazon and the styles weren't what I was looking for, as well as size and measurement wise. I called two other companies to give me a quote and Ralph was the most affordable and nicest guys. I showed him a picture from Pinterest told him the size I was looking for and he hand built it. It's exactly like the picture I gave him. Ralph is a sweet, knowledge, genuine guy who's old school and builds things from his bare hands. My only issue is the fact that he doesn't paint the mantels, so I had to paint it myself white, and he doesn't do anything with the new brick/rock/title around the fire place (state requires 12 inches top and 8 inches on the sides of some type of rock/tile) nor does he know any one to refer you too. So I had to find someone to come do that. He did have someone to refer me too for the new fire place screen. That guy changed my screen and also added the glass on my fire place which I ordered from Lowes (the glass) other then that Ralph is good and what he does a really sweet man, excellent customer service and I am happy with the final product.
