I'm really glad that I received a weekend stay as a gift- because if I had spent any money of my own ($65 pet deposit and taxes and $55 ferry ride) I would've been PISSED. What they charge people to stay here is outrageous. First of all- the "cabin" is a glorified motel room. The "fully stocked" kitchen includes 3 forks 2 spoons, 2 coffee cups that are too small for the Keurig, and 1 wine glass. The "kitchen" is terrible. The two burners barely work, and you can't tell what temperature they are on. And the only oven is a toaster oven- with no tray provided. For being out in the middle of nowhere- it's super loud. The hot tub on the deck is SUPER old and loud, and kept me up for both nights. The DVD player doesn't work and the fireplace only worked half of the time. Also- the white towels provided (only provided 2 for a two night stay for 2) were stained. A little bleach would help. The on site restaurant is closed for the season.....which I wasn't aware of until I went to make a reservation. I know it's the off season- but you should treat all of your guests the same. Also- they expect you to keep your pets off of the furniture- even though they charge a pet fee lol. I'm sorry. If I pay for my dog to be here- he's climbing all over the furniture. Oooh, and the ants!!! Ants all over. Which they know about, because there ate also ant traps everywhere. GROSS!!!!! Stay somewhere else........

I loved this place! Rustic and clean...magical and memorable. The view from my place was spectacular. Nice TV and dvd player with about 30 dvds. Board games and jacuzzi with a mini kitchen and toaster oven. There were deer in front of the porch every night! Highly recommend this place.

My husband and I stayed there for two nights to celebrate my birthday. We took advantage of the groupon deal and got a rate on the pond cottage. We read the reviews and wanted more privacy so we paid a little extra for the pond cottage. It was a two bedroom home with all the amenities. Hot tub on the patio and light breakfast in the fridge. The tub on the master bedroom is only big enough for one person. We got no reception while there but we were away to get away so we didn't mind. We didn't eat at the restaurant but we did cook in the fully furnished kitchen. The grounds could use some upkeep but err didn't have any problems with check in and the place was nice and worth it. We will return with our family and children but I think we will only stay in the pond cottage.

Restaurant hours change according to the season.

We really enjoyed this place, especially the intimate "local" knowledge shared with us by the gracious manager Ron (in the R.V. next to the main office). We stayed in the lodge on a weeknight in March with only one other room being used on the other floor so we didn't hear anything. Had a pleasant chat with them before retiring and again in the morning. It was obvious that people had put a lot of thought into the little things as well as the general decor, etc. The beds were comfortable, the shower had three settings and decent shampoo/conditioner/gel in the dispenser, the goodie basket and carafe of wine were lovely, the gas fireplace was a nice touch. Location was lovely, complete with rabbits and deer and a view (albeit limited) of the harbor. Negatives: Wi-fi was sketchy at best but even cell phone coverage is sketchy all over the island (though I know that's not really related). When roll-away was unfolded it was very difficult to move around it to get to the bathroom. Forgot to mention something which might be significant..... we blew a fuse...twice! just by using the little hairdryer that comes with the room. Don't know if #8 is particularly finicky but....it's good to have directions on how to easily fix this (and it is pretty easy, once you know how) rather than get frustrated and wait for someone to come and then come back again.

Had a very nice short stay here using a Travelzoo deal. While it may be the only place to stay/eat on this side of the island it is right down the road from the Deer Harbor Marina where kayak and whale watching tours leave from. The staff was really friendly and informative and our room was nice and clean. They have ping pong and bocce in the yard as well as a hot tub (I'm not too sure how often any of them are used though). Thumbs up!

The view from room #6 in the lodge.

When we arrived the second time, we were greeted by Charles with an apology and a tour. The home is tidy, eclectic and quirky. Our room was wonderful. Plenty of space, comfortable bed and charming. Another bonus of staying here was the breakfasts. The food is delicious and unexpected. I did not anticipate seared sushi grade tuna or oat pancakes that rival the best buttermilk pancakes. And the beauty of breakfast times is sitting with other guests along with Jill and Charles discussing everything from how it all began at the Kangaroo B&B to activities to do on the island. I have to say, with the exception of the amazing views from Mount Constitution, the water views from almost everywhere on the island and celebrating my wife, this B&B was a highlight of my trip.

Additionally they were very friendly and inviting to an LGBTQ+ couple staying there which made me feel safe and welcome. I look forward to going back in the future!

Second, an Inn employee hit my brand new car (Mercedes Benz with 100 miles on it) while I was getting a treatment. As I was leaving, the Innkeeper or Manager laughingly told me my car was hit. I thought it was a joke because he kept laughing and telling jokes. He had not called to report the accident and didn't notify me until I was walking out the door to catch a ferry to go back home (live on island). I finally told the manager (or whoever he was) that thanks, but I wasn't in the mood for humor given the circumstances. I had to call the Police to make a report. The report clearly showed the employee was at fault. Given that we live on an Island, this is going to cost us thousands - not even to mention the huge depreciation on a brand new car. After some consideration, it seemed reasonable that perhaps the Inn would credit my stay given the circumstances. My wife called the Inn and spoke with the manager and owner. At first, they immediately hung up on her saying "we don't have time for this" - she was being very polite. Flabbergasted, she called back, and they said we don't care about your situation or that our employee hit your car. Call the insurance company. They were exceptionally rude about it as well. Finally, there are other accommodation options in La Conner. I highly recommend them over Blue Heron. People like this don't deserve our business.

We were unfortunate to be there when the water pump for the property broke on our second evening. We had been out cycling all day and desperately needed showers. So this meant no showers, no toilet, no hand washing, etc. etc. They gave us a pitcher of water so we could brush our teeth and a bucket of water to do 1 toilet flush. They were super nice and apologetic. They gave us a bottle of wine and a few pieces of nice soap as a consolation. That's the disappointment and why I knocked them down to 2 stars (it would have been a 1 star had the rest of the experience note been so nice). I know this was an unexpected event. And they should have refunded part of the not-inconsequential price for that night or offered a discount on a future stay. A bottle of wine did not change the fact that I went home from my birthday weekend filthy and dying for a bathroom visit. Running water is expected when you've spent $500 a night for a room.

The hosts are extremely friendly and, in my opinion, quite special in that they leave the degree of guest interaction entirely up to you. You receive directions to your accommodations with your email confirmation and can let yourself in without assistance. However, they are eager to make themselves available any time you have questions, want recommendations, need something, etc. To me, this makes PCF great for everyone from a family looking for guidance on an activity-filled vacation to a couple seeking privacy during a romantic getaway weekend. As described in other posts, the attention to detail here is phenomenal. The setting may be rustic, but the rooms are very nicely appointed and extremely clean. My suite had beautiful wood flooring throughout, a tremendously comfortable bed, and any amenity you could possibly need. Hair dryer? Check. Rainy day books and DVDs? Check. Complete set of kitchenware? Check. This last point was a nice selling point for me in particular. As a frequent solo traveler, I don't care a lot about dining out (it's a bit awkward on your own and it's a quick drain on the cash flow!). It was fantastic that the suite came with everything I needed to prepare my own food and the eggs from the hens and fresh veggies from the garden meant I had to buy very few supplemental items to complete my meals (check out the Eastsound Farmer's Market or ferry landing grocery store).
