I was looking for a local room to rest in after a long and stressful day. All I really wanted was a hot bath and a comfortable bed. I arrived and was greeted by staff with a glass of wine which was quite nice. I ventured out and grabbed some food to bring back to my room to eat. Many places to choose from nearby. At last.... My hot bath.... Nope.... The plug in the tub did not work and did not even appear to be the correct plug for that drain. I visited the office and the gal came to my room to have a look. She said she would call her mgr and get back to me. 30 minutes later... no call and no bath. I called the office and explained my situation and told her I would expect some type of compensation. I took a shower (not my thing before bed) and tried to go to sleep. The heat/ac in that room is either on or off. If I turned on the AC it ran nonstop and was very loud. I slept with it off and was sweating all night.... No happy medium. When I checked out the next morning I, again, mentioned the bath tub situation. The person working said she didn't think she could do anything more for me since I got a "discounted rate to begin with" and I responded that I had no bath and she responded "well, you had a shower!" She knew I wasn't happy and offered $10 off at which point, I was insulted, and told her I would be writing a review that would probably not be very pretty. As I was walking out she was saying.... ma'am, I'm trying to work with you; what would you like me to do? I left. The next day I got an updated invoice with a bit more off the bill than the $10 offered. Bottom line, if they gave me a "discounted rate" when I booked does that mean everything in the room should not be functional? I think not. Just finished a four night stay at the Maritime Inn after a horrendous Airbnb situation in Gig Harbor. The maritime inn was a breath of fresh air with a king size bed view of the harbor and the staff that can only be called extraordinary. They helped us with Restaurant reservations and recommendations, places to go and see, and even a local real estate agent since we are considering moving there. They could've been more helpful and more solicitous. The hotel is perfectly located along harbor way and is in the middle of virtually everything. Easy walking to bars restaurants and some of the sites. It almost made up for the horrendous Airbnb situation. We will be coming back to Gig Harbor in our effort to move there, and we will stay only at the Maritime Inn. read more

Second time staying at this great little inn. Staff was great. Welcome wine a nice touch. Continental breakfast just fine for grab and go, just what we needed. If you are expecting a gourmet brunch or a massive grand scale resort or room, this is not the place for you. I would have hoped some of the bad reviewers would have figured that out rather than giving a poor review to a very nice place, with great people, in an absolutely first rate location, unlike any other place in the Harbor. Will definitely go back, a great spot for a getaway. We travel a lot, and the poor reviews you might read are not common, and likely from people with issues. Likely not warranted. read more

We would stay here again. Location is perfect on the Gig Harbor waterfront, within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Price reasonable. We stayed in Sentinel Room. It was comfortable, cozy, and quiet. Pillows very nice. Though my wife liked the bed, i would have preferred more firmness. However, all 3 of us (wife, son, me) slept very well. When we checked in a glass of wine was provided to each adult, which is a nice touch. The continental breakfest was fine. read more

This is my 3rd time staying at the Maritime Inn. My girlfriend and I stayed there for a few nights to kick off our Washington vacation. Needless to say, we enjoyed our stay there. The room is comfy, spacious, and was a perfect way to start our vacation. The staff is very friendly and the location is beautiful. We both fell more in love with Gig Harbor and really enjoyed our room and stay. I have no complaints and will definitely stay here again in the future! read more

When reading the negative reviews it seems pretty clear that the problem with this place is management. Great location, semi comfortable beds, and only slightly below average when it comes to cleanliness. But the woman running the front desk needs to be told that she is in the hospitality business. I was helping my parents check out of their room and I was holding my 10 pound dog who just had surgery in my hands. We only went in the room for two minutes to grab the bags and this lady bangs on the door like she is the police and screams at us that we can't have the dog in the room. I open the door and she literally runs away and back to her desk. I'm not sure if she ran because she came to my parents room with no mask or if she didn't want a confrontation. Either way, I would never do business with an establishment that employs a person that treats people like that let alone paying customers. There are so many nicer places to stay near by. These people don't deserve to be in the hospitality business. read more

My wife and I stayed at this little inn during our vacation. This is a very impressive establishment to stay at if you are touring the Tacoma area. The rooms are very nice, clean and feels like you are staying in a high-end hotel. The staff are also very nice and helpful as well, However, that is all you really get for the price which is what I expect at all inns or hotels. They do supply a continental breakfast, which is just okay but nothing to compensate for the nightly rate. Great location and was a great "jumping off" point to visit other areas around the Gig Harbor area. read more

I was with my friend on a house hunting expedition for her family. She thought this would be a great little place, some pampering... We needed a room with 2 beds and unfortunately this option was right next to, like i mean directly next to the front desk and the beyond that was the front door. So the quiet and secludedness was lost. They did include a bottle of wine with the room, it was nice. The staff was friendly and helped us choose a couple of nice locations for lunch and some options for dinner, but we branched out. There was a continental breakfast - but it didn't start till 8am. I'm an early riser, and we were out of the hotel by 7:30, so that was useless to us. The hotel was cute enough and seemed like a bed and breakfast, but there was no happy hour, no night time snacks. Seemed weird. It was centrally located, and if Gig Harbor was your only destination, it would be a good place to locate yourself. There is plenty of parking, there is a toll on the way out of the island - something to note. read more

Stayed in "The Genius" room which was great ... fantastic view, great furnishings. The room was a bit small, but fine. It was nicely outfitted and the view was fantastic. The bed was so-so ... a bit saggy on the side. The fireplace looks great in the room, but after just a couple minutes on the room is overly toasty ... a bit too powerful for the small space. Bathroom is a bit tiny and lacks good storage space. Free WiFi and wired Internet connection in the rooms. The inn has a nice little continental breakfast area. The staff here is very friendly as well. I'd stay here anytime over one of the larger hotels in town. This one has the best location of any of them. read more

Most recently, this past weekend a client who is retiring from the USAF and leaving Germany to relocate to Gig Harbor spent a few nights here. Loved it. Their themed rooms and local staff members really give guests a taste of what living in Gig Harbor will be like. You're right in the heart of downtown, so you can walk to coffee shops, restaurants, etc. Very comfortable rooms, very kind staff, great location. My husband and I stayed here during our Christmas trip to the local area to see family. We stayed in "The Legend Room, #7" and were very pleased with our room. From the moment we arrived until it was time to leave the staff took very good care of us. When we checked in we were each offered a glass of local wine, red or white, which was appreciated after a long day of travel. Our room was spacious enough for two, the bed was comfortable, and our little fireplace made the room nice and toasty. One thing that is important to me while staying in a hotel is water temperature and pressure, our bathroom (which was a little on the small side) did not disappoint. I really enjoyed being within walking distance of all the cute shops and restaurant in downtown Gig Harbor. Also our view of the town Christmas tree all lit up in the evenings brought a smile to my face. Thank you Maritime in we will be back! read more

We enjoyed a mini staycation here! We were in the Skansonia room, and it was delightful! The wine on checkin was delicious and the room was lovely. Sitting on the deck was nice -- maybe they could get more comfy chairs, but still lovely to sit out there. Comfy bed! Nice tub! Great location! Didn't take part in the continental breakfast as that doesn't thrill me. Coffee shop directly next door was great! I would love to stay here again! Great staff, too! Small things: Towels are frayed and tile on fireplace look...funny. read more

Lovely lovely staff! We stayed here when we were looking for homes in Gig Harbor. I had a 6 month old baby and they arranged to give us a "pack and play" for her to sleep in. The location is great and within walking distance to some restaurants and coffee shop. The bed is real small and the mini fridge in the room had to be unplugged so we could get some sleep. It was rattling the whole night and was slightly irritating. But, it's a good "home-feel" place and the room was clean and dainty. I'd recommend family and friend to stay here. read more

Location is good - rooms are okay, but the real problem is the GM. The airline lost our bag and when I went to the front desk the second morning of my stay to see if it had arrived the GM, in front of multiple other guests, began to berate, degrade, and verbally assault me (as in yelling and demanding I don't move). She claimed that I was going around banging on all the doors, and caused a guest to leave early, which was not true at all. Secondly she did not attempt once to ask me about what she thought occurred, only hearsay from another guest. I'm sorry but that is completely unacceptable; a hotel employee verbally abusing a paying customer- and especially in front of other guests! I was clearly upset and did not want any association with her or the staff so we put a do not disturb sign on our door - as in don't knock. Sure enough 2 hours later the staff was pounding on our door (we didn't answer and they finally went away) I'm sure everyone's experience won't be like this, but I would warn you if you get on the GM's bad side for any reason at all get ready to walk on eggshells around that place. One final note to sum up my review. When I nicely asked the GM (check out their site to figure out who she is) who the owner was so I could write them a letter - she refused to tell me and said " I'll tell you when you finally leave." We stayed here while visiting friends in Gig Harbor for 2 nights with our 2 kids (ages 4 and 2). Room was worn and small, but the location was great...walking distance to everything. We were in the Sentinel Room (the only room with 2 queen beds)....right next to the front desk. Around 10 am on the morning we were leaving my 2 year old had a meltdown. There was a knock at the door and it was the lady from the front desk who told me she "can't hear anything on the phone, he's going to have to stop crying". Excuse me?? We were in our ROOM, not standing in front of your desk. Am I supposed to take him outside in the rain while he has a meltdown?? Sorry, but you don't tell a tired mom that her 2 year old has to stop crying! read more

My mom has stayed here in all of her trips back to where i was raised, Gig Harbor! After 30 years I finally returned and my mom choose this little inn for our stay. It was so cute and our check in was wonderful and very polite. I have to say after getting settled in our room (the first one next too the reception desk) the shower was disgusting!! It didn't look like it had been cleaned in months. The water heater ran all night and the noise at night was terrible in the hall. You could hear toilets flush and run for an excessive amount of time. When my mother mentioned something to the woman working in the am she smiled and said "ok" "ok" . No sorry or let us make things right..... then after my mother walked out the door she made a snarky comment to the cleaning woman about my mom.. I would think that at the rates they charge they would want to know issues that arise in their inn. This was not a pleasant or restful stay and it will be the last booking that we will make. Sorry for mentioning the problem with your room!! Keep pouring the wine because your guests will need it to cover up the flaws of your rooms and your employees personalities. read more

This comfy, friendly, clean, hospitable inn gets huge kudos!! When we were residents in Gig Harbor for many years (we now live in San Diego), we would put up our family and friends at this great establishment. Kathy, the manager, couldn't be more hospitable as is the entire staff. While the rooms are not large, they are spotless and comfortable. This is the place to be while visiting Gig Harbor--you are in town and close to The Green Turtle, The Tides, and all of the other small-town boutiques and art galleries. Also, the complimentary extended continental breakfast is perfect--with cereals, breads, fruits, drinks, etc. If you need anything more than, Kelley's is around the corner for breakfast. The Maritime Inn is wonderful--what more can we say!!! It is our place of choice every time we visit Gig Harbor--which is not nearly as much as we would like. The Hartkorn Family read more

Split Decision. We had the Aeroplane room. My Sweetie liked this place and I wasn't so thrilled. First the good. Our room was very tastefully decorated and the bed was very comfy with nice pillows and a really nice duvet. This room also has a gas fireplace that classed up the room visually. There was also a sitting chair, but it wasn't as comfortable as it was attractive. Still good for piling the extra pillows on though. Now the bad. It was a really cold evening when we arrived and so was the room. The staff had not turned on the heat ahead of our arrival. This inn has a 72 hour cancellation policy, so whether we made it there or not, they were getting paid for the room. Bring your ear plugs. This is likely not something that can be easily fixed, the building has VERY noisy plumbing. I'm a sound sleeper, but I was woken up several times by the guests in adjacent rooms using their toilets and sinks. By reputation, this is one of the nicest places to stay in Gig Harbor, so buyer beware. read more

Our party checked in over the summer. It is a cute little hotel. Nicely furnished with cute little fireplaces. There was heavy construction going on across the street that made it very noisy and a poor view from our water front view. They did warn us about the construction when we made our reservation so it was to be expected and not really a big issue. The worst part about our stay was the staff. When we arrived the gal at the front desk was completely frazzled. She seemed like she was in a hurry, very nervous, irritated, and could not talk and work at the same time. She kept making mistakes so it took a very long time for us to check in. Apparently she was just getting off her shift. We took our luggage to the room, relaxed for a bit and decided to go down to the "reception" area for our complimentary "wine & cheese". There was a new receptionist down at the office and 2 large male bikers sitting across from the desk talking to her. We asked her where the complimentary "wine & cheese" was and she said right here! Well first off the office is so small that only 2 people can sit there and the seats were full with her 2 biker friends. She reluctantly poured us a tiny glass of wine and there was not any complimentary cheese. She was a bit hostile so we decided to go back to our rooms and enjoy our own bottle of wine we brought from home. About an hour or so later we went back down thru the office on our way out to a show. We noticed that the receptionist was drinking the wine with her 2 biker friends that were still there. No wonder she didn't want to give us the complimentary wine! When we came down in the morning the continental breakfast consisted of pre packaged muffins and pastries, some bananas, cereal, and some hard boiled eggs in the fridge. If you happen to be gluten free or on a low carb diet the choice is pretty limited to fruit and hard boiled egg. For the price of the hotel I would at least expect some FRESH pastries or muffins. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Maritime Inn for a short anniversary getaway. We took advantage of their Spring Fling promotion that included a bottle of bubbly and chocolates in our room and a gift card for the Tides Tavern down the street. Their staff was very nice and accommodating. The continental breakfast was pretty comprehensive. We appreciated the cozy fireplace when it rained heavily. They are located within short walking distance of several shops and restaurants. If I knew someone wanting to stay in the Gig Harbor area I would definitely recommend Maritime. read more

We celebrated a family reunion with this hotel as our headquarters. One of my sisters was in charge and liked the retro look of the place. She also liked the location. Everybody on the desk was super friendly which is always nice. There was convenient parking. There was a nice central courtyard with a small sitting area which was exactly what we needed but we were competing for it with other guests so only got it one of two nights. Several rooms had small decks and mine had the best view so I ended up as party central the second night. It worked. The biggest downside to the place is being unable to control the heat. Days were warm and nights were cool which meant the room was cold. Bed was comfortable with nice linens. Towels were ordinary though bathroom amenities were better than usual. Toto toilet for aficionados of bathroom fixtures. The complimentary glass of wine on arrival was nice. The continental breakfast was ok. There is no place to eat it except in your room or outside. It would have been nice to have an indoor sitting area but that would have taken away an income producing room. read more

I have been fortunate enough to stay at the Inn a few times on business and during my last visit I was able to bring the family along. We stayed in the Aeroplane room and, so far, this room is probably my favorite. The rooms are very nice but it's the staff that makes this place exceptional. After a long day of driving, my wife was offered complimentary wine at check-in, which she gladly accepted, so she could unwind a bit while watching our 4-year old son pedal away some energy on his bike (while lucky ol' Dad unpacked the car.) The Inn is conveniently located across the street from the boat docks and a small park. BTW, we walked one block to a restaurant called Kelly's for one of the best breakfasts I have had in my entire life - be sure not to miss it. Anyways, when we got back home I checked the mail and there was a package from the Maritime. In it was my son's Red Sox cap from the weekends ballgame we caught and apparently left in the room.
