As promised in my last review from 2022, my husband and I returned to Silver Cloud for a staycation and booked one of the jacuzzi rooms. Highly recommend, and completely worth the price tag. Since we've stayed here before, we were pretty clear on what to expect. Check in was smooth, the valet staff were super nice, and we had a fantastic stay. The jacuzzi room is definitely spendy, but we were dead set on it. My husband and I started a tradition a few years ago where we nixed Christmas presents and decided to book 2-3 day vacations instead. With this being our belated gift to each other, we knew we wanted to splurge. I'm fully convinced there isn't a room here that has a bad view. We had sweeping views of the water and once the fog lifted in the morning, it was gorgeous! The jacuzzi tub is a little finicky to get the temperature correct, but once we had that figured out it was great. It takes a bit to fill up (about 20 minutes) so just be ready. Silver Cloud at Ruston definitely is a little on the pricier side, but it's entirely worth it in my opinion! read more

My daughter and I just got back from a 3 night stay. I cannot recommend this place enough!! The good- The beds are sooooo COMFORTABLE! Maybe the best bed I've slept on in a hotel and I'm comparing to 5 star and 5 diamond resorts. Simply so comfy from the mattress to the pillows to the bedding. Top notch. The only recommendation I would make is for the staff to use fragrance free detergent. Aside from that, the beds are perfection. The rooms are CLEAN. I am very particular about cleanliness and usually base my hotel choice on who has the best reputation. This place was spotless daily. Love the two little windows that open in the rooms. It is so nice to have fresh air come in to the room. The gym is very nice. New, clean equipment, a nice bathroon, and filtered water available. The downsides- Only valet available. If you're like me and come and go all day, just park in the structure across the street during the day. Valet at night. No room service. This isn't the end of the world. Call the restaurant downstairs to ask for take away. They are sweet and have things ready quickly. read more

This our second time visiting Silvercloud Ruston Point. This hotel is amazing. The staff is friendly and attentive. The rooms are very clean and well designed. The beds are super comfy and if you opt for the king size room with water view the TV is huge. The shower is clean and spacious and they give you Aveda bath products. You could spend hours in your room watching the bay with seals swimming by and birds diving for fish. There are many restaurants close by but we chose to dine at the Copper and Salt for a late dinner and drinks. The drinks were fantastic and the duck confit is out of this world. On the top of the building they have an outdoor heated pool and hot tub and with the current storms that are coming through it is so much fun to sit out in the weather and soak in the hot tub. We cannot wait to come back and visit this hotel again. read more

Been wanting to stay here for a long time and finally did to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Check in was quick and easy. The woman I worked with to check in, was super friendly and was more than accommodating to let me know all the details to let my stay be more comfortable. Upon going up to the room, I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful it was. I normally look for all the little imperfections and I honestly could not find one thing. We utilized the pool. Though it is not big, there is ample seating and good views. I really liked that. The pool wasn't too deep making it feel very comfortable for our kids to swim in. The location is great. You get a view of the water, but also get to enjoy all the different things that Ruston has to offer. Most of the staff was super friendly throughout the hotel. On April 11th I went to Copper & Salt, an establishment located at the Silver Cloud Hotel. I used the valet at the Silver Cloud Hotel and had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience. I brought my McLaren GT (a $260,000 vehicle) and entrusted it to their valet service. That night, their porter Sage dropped and visibly damaged my key fob right in front of me - and admitted to doing so on the spot. I reported the issue immediately and was told to contact Kim Straight, the general manager. Despite the clear evidence, admission, verbal and written acknowledgment, Kim made me jump through unnecessary hoops, placing the burden on me and demanding proof of purchase for my fob that they damaged! What really frustrated me was the fact it was a key fob where most individuals would not have a receipt for, but nonetheless, I provided everything they asked for and for over a month I was strung along. I provided bank statements showing the purchase and even eventually got an invoice which I emailed to Kim. Each time she acknowledge, apologize and assured that everything would be taken care of. However, this morning I received an email this morning saying they conducted a "thorough investigation" and found no "validity" to my claim - completely reversing what was already admitted. This is completely unacceptable, especially for a hotel that presents itself as upscale. If you're bringing a high-end vehicle or simply expecting accountability and integrity from hotel staff, look elsewhere. Silver Cloud Hotel failed in customer service, responsibility, and basic professionalism. To top it off, I was told to file a claim through my insurance after a month of back-and-forth and Kim assuring me everything would be handled. I plan to pursue this further as I wonder how they treat individuals who are less fortunate that dine and stay at their establishment. Stringing them along, lying and hoping they will just disappear is so disappointing, especially at an establishment where I have spent thousands of my hard earned dollars. I could go on and on about this hotel. Upon walking in I knew I was going to like it here. The front desk staff were amazing, especially Alex and Kaylion (sorry if I am spelling it wrong) and made sure we had everything we needed. The room itself was beautiful! Great bed and great view. We had enough room to spread out and everything was very clean. Despite a slight drizzle, we sat in the hot tub for a bit which was perfect for relaxing. There were two other couples there as well but it didn't feel cramped. The pool is also heated so, despite it being outdoors, it can still be used. Will 100% be back! read more

This is a nice and polished hotel in a quiet corner of Tacoma with several restaurants and such across the street. Room was spacious and comfortable, beds were quite nice, shower and bathroom was spacious and new. Coffee machine was convenient though the coffee available (Keurig) was meh. The least expensive rooms have a nothing- special view of shops and parking, but the view from the windows in the restaurant is superb (if the sun is out), and presumably the more expensive rooms have a similar view. $38 daily mandatory valet (if you need to park) is outrageous, and costs them a star - I will say that the valley guys were efficient. Overall, not cheap but quite enjoyable. read more

Terrific hotel with wonderful views of Puget Sound. No better way to wake up or drift off than with rippling water, gorgeous sunrise/sunset and the occasional spotting of seals at play. We are guest there for 3 weeks if the room a little messy it's understandable. But if people know me they know I am clean as a freak. Some call me OCD. How can you do this to us? A family of 4 with a special kid ( my son is autism with level 3). Ryan ( the director) told a valet guy to called my husband in to talked to him how thoughtful. My husband still went in happily ( I knew something coming up because this is not how you deal with your guest). I went in right after and already there a conflict my husband said they kicking us out I was like what? What did we do? At that time, I have already feel like a criminal. For the way he talked to us. Where the conversation happened. He couldn't lead us to somewhere quiet and told my husband what happened. Where he talked to my husband was the lobby in front of all the other guest and all the employer He even said worst things which really racist. Please don't go to SILVER CLOUD Ruston point the new location please don't. I actually had my friends booked there. Also my family bc I love the place so much but after today...... Good stuff: Beautiful views Great bathtub jacuzzi Polite staff from front to back Comfy bed Aveda amenities CLEAN! The NOT a good stuff: -NOT a good value!! At over $350 a night for my room with the additional notes - ridiculous price! -basically in the middle of nowhere with a string of other 2-3 star hotel/motels -restaurant not fully open mid day. -jacuzzi tub has low water pressure in room 521. And oddly even an hour after beginning to drain would make these ENORMOUS sucking sounds that would last longer than you would expect. Which will definitely interrupt your sleep if you plan to bath and retire. Hotel should check on this! -nothing open until 7 am which if you're vacationing no big deal. If you're here on business - a bust. When I came down for the 7 am breakfast I was informed the chef didn't show up. Really? I feel for the hotel. I asked could I have coffee and toast? They let me in but still proceeded to charge me. This hotel wants to be a 5 star but it isn't. We came for a one night staycation for Mother's Day and got a corner room on the 4th floor overlooking the Sound. Valet is the only option for parking and you have to pay for it if you are a guest at the hotel, however, if you eat at the restaurant, parking is free. Okkkay. Weird. As for the room, it was new and it looked clean, however, check to make sure things are actually clean. The tub was pretty dirty upon inspection. I never use the in-room hotel mugs for fear of seeing gunk on them. We brought our 5 month old with us and I needed to heat water for her bottle. I needed to use their mug to fill water in their Keurig machine. Lo and behold, the first thing I see is gunk in the mug. Room service is none existent, which is such a disappointment as I was looking forward to ordering in. Unfortunately, as a guest, you will have to order food in their restaurant and pick it up yourself. I wish they offered an option to have staff drop off the food to your room but they don't. As for the food, it was very disappointing. The dishes were overpriced for what they were. We ordered the skirt steak ($36) - my husband actually laughed (and yelled out "are you serious?") when he opened this specific dish. Shameful presentation as it looked and tasted burnt. The salad that came with it was very small. You will leave feeling hungry if you order this dish. As for my order, I got the halibut with risotto ($37). It was filling, however, it's not a dish I would order again. We also ordered the sticky toffee pudding ($7) for dessert. This was absolutely delicious and was the star of the show. It went well with my coffee. With that being said, my husband ordered and picked up the food and while he was waiting for the order, he sat in at the bar. We call the cops on the hotel! To the person who is reading this review, leaving a long review takes time and effort, but I promise it would be worth your time to read before you book. This is an important review that I have to put up for others to check before they sleep or enjoy the beautiful view. The first room we were at was 535, has a lot of fruit flies, on both of our queen beds and windows. The assistant manager, Ayana, who is very nice and understanding, apologized for our inconvenience, then moved us to room 537 same night. We were then very happy move to the next room, it was bigger and nicer. After 2 days in the room, I noticed spiders on the windows, I tried to moved them out of the left side window. We didn't let the front desk know this time, then more spiders and webs were all over the window. Our families and friends booked this place on July 4th through July 6th to hang with us, especially to visit my autistic son who has just turned 4 on the holiday (poor guy, doesn't know his name and a nonverbal introvert since baby). All 5 rooms have insects by the windows. Such a beautiful place and food in the restaurant were fantastic, ate there everyday. Just be careful with the head of security and director of front desk, Ryan Sidlovski. They told the valets to have us meet them in the lobby once arrived, what a surprise. As a real estate agent for the last 7 years, I am always ready to meet people who like to talk to me first. I walked into the front desk and said hi to everyone, after being here for 2 weeks, you kind of have to know everyone and everyone is probably wonders about you. The director, Ryan, then rudely looked at me and said my room is vandalized, "you have 10 mins to pack and leave the property". Steve, standing next to Ryan, told us we have to leave due to our insurance paying for us and not our pocket money. My family has a huge leak in our house, our premium insurance has politely moved us to this temporary hotel for 3 weeks, it felt like Hawaii without palm trees in the beginning. With two babies and one special need child on my shoulder. Confused, this is the first time happening to us, and no home to go to, we called the Tacoma police department, they came, and both officers felt that the hotel has wrongly done us, told us we don't have to leave. But that all changed after over an hour back and forth. Both officers couldn't do a report, due to the hotel policy. Reread the policy of the hotel before you sign the papers. The hotel has the right to kick anyone out without reasons if they can't explain. Officer Hansen, in the end, apologized to my family multiple times that he couldn't do anything. Frontally told us to put this on the news with all the videos my wife and I have recorded. Still confused, what policy? Steve, as head of security, we thought you were suppose to protect the weaker ones in the building. You seem more like a gangster than a security, it's good thing they don't allow you to have a gun. Please don't try to explain to my wife, and in front of my children that insurance is "not out of pocket money". We pay for our insurance in case of emergency. How can you judge others with insurance differently and as second class costumers? Even though you know my family has an emergency, you still force us out with 10 mins to pack. "its on video, and is already viral." I am not sure if this is poorly treatment, special ed child abuse, secondarily emotional abuses, but we will expose the mistreatments that is occurring here to employees and costumers. We are going to send multiple complaints to the corporate, complaint with BBB, Department Of Justice, WA Attorney General. We will deliver interviews soon, and hope you guys will accept them. Had the blanket over him while we were conversing with Ryan and Steve in our room. -My daughter is now afraid of hotel, so hard to explained to her our current situation, she is only 2 yrs old. -we were forced out with 10 short mins to pack and leave the building. -No drugs, no alcohol, and no permanent damage was done to the room, we were willingly pay for any damage was done, but unfairness is what you get with poor management. After 17 States visits and 8 hotels in Washington State, this is the low end treatment we got from a newly built hotel. Go to Bellevue and Seattle, it's a higher and better experience for most, don't let your insurance try save money and book you here. We left and now in Seattle, management are much more established and business oriented. Even shared with us, that we are not the only complaint they get from their customers who had stayed at Silver Cloud in Tacoma. read more

This place was WONDERFUL! We celebrated our 15th anniversary here! The only reason I don't give 5 stars is there were a couple things off - like all the wild (unattended) children at the pool splashing and rough housing - the hotel needs to have a better handle on that. And at the bar, there was a bartender that shared some super inappropriate and traumatic information about his time in the military, trying to create casual conversation with us in our romantic date (very strange). Other than those two bad things, everything else was AMAZING. The room with the jacuzzi and water view was amazing! Don't try to turn on the jets before it's all the way full because they're so powerful the hit the wall and make a mess HAHAHA! So funny though! Very comfortable beds! Amazing food at the restaurant. Brunch was my favorite - the raspberry croissant was out of this world! Good spa (not a ton of amenities, but still nice). And a TON around to explore!!! No phone service at point Ruston, but their wifi is strong, so that's a plus! read more

The biggest drawback is the "forced" valet parking and the additional charge "per day" for valet parking. They state that there is no overnight parking, but I feel like this is just a line. The silver cloud is currently a hills away from home while I deal with a family members health. If you have ever stayed in Tacoma or puyallup Washington you know that hotels are in abundance but a nice place to stay is not. Along came the silver cloud to save the day. The staff, for the most part , is great. Very attentive. Smiles always and go out of the way to help. The restaurant is good. Great menu. Nice wine list. Fantastic bar. The rooms are not the four seasons but there nice and Clean. The housekeeping staff are prompt and thorough. The facility and location. Forget about it. 5 star. The view is incredible. I love waking early before dawn and watching the sunrise over the sound with a cup of coffee in hand. If you haven't seen Mount rainier come alive at daybreak you haven't seen anything. We paid $450 a night--so NOT worth it. Our "view" room was on the fifth floor where we had to listen to music playing on outdoor speakers NONSTOP while we attempted to sleep. While the music covered all genres we really weren't interested in hearing any of it from 11pm until morning, yet had no choice. Upon waking we learned that the only coffee available until 7am at this "resort" is from the K -up in our room. Here we are in the coffee capital and the only offering is cheap, off-brand coffee on a Monday morning. How about providing a few more towels if you don't want to be bothered with making up rooms daily? The restaurant food was excellent, the cocktails were meh...at $16+ each. My family flew to Seattle and were delayed arriving. The staff was so helpful and accommodating our adjustments. The checkin process was fast and seem-less. Our room had a beautiful waterfront view. The bed was supportive and extremely comfortable. The bathroom had lovely fixtures and ample space. We dined in the restaurant downstairs and the staff was prompt and friendly. I'd LOVE to give a better rating here. The Hotel is beautiful. Truly. The room had an amazing view, comfortable beds. Very nice bathroom. The entire hotel is clean and chic, really beautifully done. The bar is well stocked and the views from the bar/restaurant are great!! Here's my issues. You are forced to valet unless you want to park... somewhere. And the fee is $30 a day unless you want to self park. Somewhere and walk who knows how far to get back to the hotel. The valet are fast and courteous at least. Check in staff at the front desk were very lacking, not very friendly and left confusion with parking payments because we had three cars all paid separately but they ended up charging my daughters card for all three ‍. The wait staff in the restaurant... honest to god the MOST unfriendly staff I have encountered. We went in twice. Once for cocktails and snacks and once for breakfast. When we were seated for our evening reservation we waited 20 min until I finally got a staff member and asked if we could get water. I was not rude at all to her but she then gave stank eye for the rest of the evening and said something to our server who was then very unfriendly and really made us all uncomfortable. It was moderately busy, but we were left unattended for most of the night and literally had to flag our server down to get refills on water and our drinks. Now for what we paid, service should be on point and it's not. At all. This morning, Feb. 20, 2022/ we went in for breakfast. AGAIN, it took 15/20 min just to get water. The server left without even asking if we wanted coffee or anything else. Needless to say, breakfast took a whopping 2 hrs!! With shitty attitudes and shitty service. It was very disappointing. You are also looking at about $25 min for a small breakfast. I had the BLT with a side of eggs and coffee and I left with a $44 tab. If the service matched the pricing of this place I would be happy but sadly it doesn't. I was looking forward to going back with my husband but now, I think I'll pass on it. read more

Very comfortable beds! I slept well and had some nice coffee before a comfortable morning routine in a luxuriously appointed bathroom. It was checking into the first room that was the biggest issue. We unloaded our bags and cooler into the mini refrigerator, then saw that a faucet had been leaking for an unknown amount of time, leaving a 6 foot long puddle in the bathroom. We then packed up and they moved us to another room down the hall. Everything closes at 11. No room service, the front desk doesn't have access to condiments if you order in from a local restaurant... if you can find one, because there is no literature in the well appointed rooms. No hotel maps to know what floor the gym is on, or anything about the local area. Enjoy the hunt for the ice maker too! I think their rates are double what they should be, $300 was a bit much read more

There are two Silver Clouds--one is an inn, and the other is a hotel. Both are pretty much on the same road and short distances from one another. Both are spectacular. You cannot go wrong with either one. We have stayed at the Inn, which is literally over the water and the service is fantastic! For our 24th anniversary, I wanted to stay at the new Hotel. I accidentally booked at the Inn, however. Let me be clear, this was my mistake. It also meant that I was responsible for the non-refundable rate--since I didn't realize my mistake until I was actually checking in. Refunds can only happen with cancellations with more than 24 hour notice. As soon as I pulled up to the circular driveway at the Hotel, I instantly felt like I was no longer in Tacoma. We live here, by the way. The hotel just has the elegance of a more densely populated metro area. Two valet people quickly walked up to my car. Music was playing. They were friendly, helpful, and simply friendly. As soon as I walked in, I was excited. You can immediately see the beautiful view of the Commencement Bay. The inside of the hotel is modern and sophisticated. I was getting excited for our stay. Everyone greeted me warmly. The person checking me in (Shana or Shaina?) was attentive and kind. She knew that we were celebrating our 24th anniversary. We soon realized my mistake. And she immediately kicked into gear, trying to figure out how she could correct MY mistake. It was graduation weekend and the hotel was pretty full, so it wasn't like it would've been wrong for her to let me know that regretfully, there was nothing they could do. And I would've been okay with that. I would've had to be. She called over her manager (I think his name is Matt) and together they cancelled my reservation at the Silver Cloud Inn and got us a room. They were responsive, expedient, and problem solvers, and were so kind as they did it. I had to leave to pick up my husband so I hurriedly put my bags in the room. Each entry door is based on card tap, which makes things easy. I did a walk through of the room and was beaming ear to ear. The room was spacious, with a nice bathroom and the view was beautiful (I LOVE THE WATER). I left to pick up my boo. One of the staff, Shawn called me, and let me know that he heard about our dilemma. He just wanted to make sure that everything was ok. He also surprised us and upgraded our room and moved our bags before we returned! I'm not sure who was responsible, but someone also drive to the Inn without us knowing and picked up our champagne and chocolates. Because of regulations, these things would've had to been thrown away. I had moved on from even thinking about them--it was just a nice gesture and consistent with their staff going the extra mile. I received an email about our cancellation from the inn and it restated the refund policy. I was ready to accept the lost charges because of my mistake. I called the Inn to confirm, and the staff there was like, "were you the person that was going to be celebrating...." And I was like "yes"! She let me know that they wouldn't be charging me. The Hotel had called and took care of everything (I didn't know that that also meant that they would waive the cancellation fee). And that's how I found out that the Hotel had sent someone to pick up the treats. She jokingly said, "you missed out." She wasn't wrong. They have beautiful views at the Inn. We would've been served breakfast in our room, and we would've had a jacuzzi. What I'm trying to say is that the Inn is also excellent. And I really appreciated both them working together for our benefit!! Thank you. The rooms at the Hotel are contemporary and beautiful. We had a suite, so it was more than spacious with picturesque views!! There was a living room space with a mini fridge and sink area (no stocked bar though). A nice couch and TV. The room is also nice. The bathroom is roomy and spa-like. Each room in the suite has BIG views. I put pics from both room types. You won't be disappointed with the standard room. The restaurant isn't open yet, so no room service or eating at the hotel yet. But it's located within Point Ruston so there are plenty of restaurants, some retail shops, a place to get manis and pedis, some of my favorite ice cream, etc. You won't need a car. You can people watch, walk to the movies, rent some toys (scooters and different kinds of bicycles). And if you are there on Saturday, there is a great farmer's market. We walked toward the dunes and up to the Rose Garden, where we got engaged :-). It was perfect. It's been such a rough year for all of us. And I had some difficult health challenges. It was so nice to celebrate here and such a great "welcome back outside," to be greeted with such persistent kindness and collaboration.
