I'd love to give 5 stars, because everything was fine apart from ONE big thing. That was the most important thing for any hotel / motel -- the ability to get a decent night's sleep. We couldn't do it at this motel. The smoke detector flashed a very bright, green light on and off all night long from high up on a wall. It was so bright we could easily see it even with our eyes closed. Three of us were all disturbed by it and covered our faces with pillows, etc. just to try to avoid it. But it lit up the whole room, really. On the second night, I raided my first aid kit for band aids and used a half-dozen to block the light. Other customers may not be bothered, but anyone who's a light sleeper will suffer here. Again, I hate to leave less than the full stars, but it would be so easy for management to fix this with a little effort and a piece of tape. read more

I'd say more of 3.5 but I'll round up. End of wedding weekend has me here for the night. I was looking for a cheap hotel that wasn't disgusting and scary, and this is just that! It's updated & has all the basic amenities. I wouldn't say it is "4 stars" by normal hotel standards, but this is technically a motel and I'm rating as such. For a motel this place is updated, pretty clean, the Internet works and my bed isn't uncomfortable. I can see areas they missed cleaning but hey I can anywhere I go which is why I keep my hotel staying to a minimum. Also, it is by a busy road and although it isn't super loud, it is something to note. In addition, if you're on the bottom floor and have someone above you, be prepared for a lot of noise. Shower was accessible enough for me, had grab bars & mats for safety. Only thing that could have helped was shower bench. My rollator was able to maneuver around the room & large bathroom easily. COVID-19 WARNING We stayed here July 21st-22nd. As we were showering we noticed BLOOD dripping down the wall, there were STAINS on the sheets and chairs as well. We arrived at the hotel and used our disinfecting wipes on every surface and on every single surface the wipes were brown and dirty afterwards. SEE PICTURES We watched the maid clean another room and she just pulled the sheets and moved on, she didnt have ANY cleaning supplies with her. When we went to Management to complain he literally just waived his hand and told us to get the "fuck" off of his property and then he tried to tow our car. We called the police and health department and reported them for Health Concerns. Please DO NOT stay here We are in a pandemic and this type of business is not acceptable. I just stayed here for a month while working on a project nearby. This is a very reasonably priced place that is clean and well maintained. It is a basic motel, nothing fancy, but it has all the stuff required to be comfortable, including a kuerig coffee machine, hot showers, comfortable beds, microwave and fridge, and a coin laundromat. Folks running the place are all friendly and helpful, I will miss talking with them. Not the Four Seasons, but really nice for what it is. read more

This Bates Motel, excuse me I mean Belfair Motel, is truly jacked up. It is really awful. I was at a function at Camp St. Albans in Allyn Washington, but since I'm not a camper and don't enjoy sharing my space with strange people, I decided to stay in town. The only place to stay that we could find was the Belfair Motel. I knew when I rolled up to check in that it was not conducive for how I like to live, and I don't mean that I can't stay at a cheap hotel, like a Motel 6, or a Super 8 if they even exist still, and such. But this place was really nasty. I will take a Motel 6 any day but will never stay at the Belfair Motel again. Everybody knows that I am super friendly and don't judge people. But on the grounds that evening when I showed up there were a lot of people that I actually started judging, because they looked a little scary. And my concerns were confirmed when I commented to a guy about how cute his little dog was and he said "He is a son of a b****". All I could think was poor dog. I ended up with a room in the far back corner on the lower part of the Motel. Keep in mind this is one of those motels where there rooms are all entered from the street either you are on the first level or you walk up some steel stairwell to the second level. My room was essentially in what was kind of like the dark alley corner. The good thing is I only found two flying bugs in the room, but it had a floor that was buckling, and a nice view of a tree right in front of my window, plus a heater that when you turn it on made so much noise you could hear it down the street I'm sure. The bed sheets smelled okay and the towels looked like they had been bleach properly. The toilet bowl was clean and the sink and tub were as well. The bed was horrifying. It was a twin bed I think, okay perhaps it was a double, are they the same thing? Anyway it was a really small bed which is okay but it had absolutely no support. I woke up with the worst backache ever. I hurt so bad I was almost going to take my chances in the woods at the campsite for the next night but I decided to tough it out. That's how much I hate camping and being in the space of other people. So when I came back to the hotel at about 10 at night to check in, of course the folks in the office had gone home and all their lights were turned off. It's pouring down raining, but I managed to grab my bags, which I would not leave in the room while I was away, and open the door to my motel room. I was absolutely shocked, disgusted, and honestly quite ticked off. They had not come into my room and cleaned the room. I was out of fresh towels and just about out of toilet paper. It was a horrible experience. I will never go back, and I recommend that if you have to stay in Belfair, and the Belfair Motel is the only one in town still, you don't. Instead take your chances with finding a place in Bremerton or Port Orchard or somewhere else. It really was a horrible experience. Only reason I think I was able to distinguish it from the Bates Motel is because it did not have the shower scene. I do think the light was blinking, and because they didn't clean my room there might be a petrified body somewhere around there. But all jokes aside, my very sincere recommendation is that you stay away. read more

Stayed in the smoker room and was very disappointed. About every part of the room was dirty like it had not been cleaned from the previous stay and they had only washed the sheets. Even those however had old stains on them as well as old stains on the furniture. Management was completely unaccommodating and was unwilling to help. They actually were rude in their response and refused to recognize there was an issue. He would not even look at the room to see how gross it really was. This was a cute place to stay. It was clean and bug free. It had a nice big window to let the sun in. It had one of those older box tv's. I liked that because it gave the room a vintage look. There's a great pizza place across the street. We just hung out in the room our whole stay. The water pressure in the shower was great and hot too. This was a great place to stay. Modern bathroom with lots of hot water. Quite location with Mason County SO substation located across the street. During my fifteen day stay I had no issues. Management and staff were great. I always have trouble judging a motel from reviews and photos and I've found it's usually a crap shoot -- two places could look identical on the outside, and one could be clean and comfortable on the inside and the other one could turn out to be a dump. The Belfair Motel is the former, very clean, very comfortable, and super affordable. Owner is a really nice, hospital guy as well. Spent two nights here and was super happy with my stay. The older motel has been redone and is very nice and clean. The room is a small but nice. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. We came to work on our plane that had broken down and originally book for two nights but realized we didn't have a part so needed to leave the next morning. The owner was fine with changing our reservations. We are finding these gems of older redone hotels in our travels and loving them. Would recommend this place. My husband and I came to this area to visit friends and this motel is the only one in the area, so we had no choice but to stay at it. The staff were nice and the room was clean. But, the bed was very hard and me with a bad back, went home with it very sore. The shower in the bathroom wasn't very strong, so it didn't help relieve the pain in the morning. We were the last people checking in for the day, there were no vacancies, so we got stuck with the room over the office which was the closest one to the street. So it got very noisy in the morning. The sheets look clean, but they sure were wrinkled. I don't think they do any ironing. It was very cheap to stay there, so we got what we paid for. But if we stay there again, we will specify a room farther away from the street. Like in the 110's or 210's at the back of the parking lot. read more

Booked this for a business trip and it was perfect. I had 2 rooms. I ended up needing to stay longer than anticipated and it was no problem at all. I had one room for a week and another for 2 nights. Clean room with cute decor. The water pressure is AMAZING! The washer and dryer on site was a saving grace as staying longer than expected I didn't pack enough. I just recently stayed here for a month. I was in town for my apprenticeship classes. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I had zero issues and the owner's were very friendly and accommodating. My room was clean and everything was in working order. The mini fridge/freezer fit all my food from the week and the tv had a lot of channels. There were a lot of people staying in the hotel so the parking lot was full. No one bugged me, and at first I was nervous because I was staying alone in the room, but it was quiet and I felt comfortable. The staff always greeted me with a smile. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely book a room again. If you're expecting the Ritz, you're gunna have a bad time. This is a small town motel, come at it with an open mind. I'm from a really big city and the motels there were pretty dicey. So, this was really nice compared to what I've stayed in. There's really good cameras throughout the parking lot and never once did anyone mess with me, my car, or my room. read more

My family and I are currently staying here due to the recent snow, as we live in a fifth wheel and needed a break! Our room is super clean, stocked with towels, toiletries and coffee. The owner never stops working. He is either cleaning rooms, shoveling snow or helping customers. He is always friendly and willing to help. In fact, when we checked in a couple nights ago, our credit card didn't go through right away and the only thing he was concerned about was getting us warm and settled in our room. Of course we came back within a few minutes to settle up, and he couldn't have been nicer. I honestly have no idea about why or what happened with the protest about this place a couple of weeks ago. As a business owner you should be able to refuse service to sketchy looking people. There are rumors around town about prostitution or dealers coming here. I mean, it is Belfair, which is full of gross people like that. I really would be surprised if the owner allowed disgusting behavior here. He seems like he really cares about this place. All in all, I've enjoyed our time here and we are super thankful this motel is in town. read more

Nothing better than being turned away after a 9 hour drive at 10pm for having too many pets. 1 dog, 4 cats. Verbally okayed weeks prior, and they turned us out. At 10pm. Who does that? As if the 3 cats were going to have a party like the one that was going on while we tried to check in. Not cool. Worth the drive to stay elsewhere. Anywhere. Second hand information from someone who had stayed there previously - said it was not a nice place. Sounds like we dodged a bullet, but not fun trying to find a place that late at night. I stayed at this place as it was advertised to be a cheap out of the way place to stay. Little did I know, it was only cheap since the Alderbrook down the street was really really expensive. The people who run this place don't listen. You can call, confirm, double check and confirm again, but chances are, they will screw up your day. And if it's a holiday weekend, this could cost you dearly. The place is a stop off for any traveler heading to another destination. It's close enough to the ferries, where I think I could justify the cost. But, overall, a lackluster experience. There is a town nearby that you can get most of your provisions. But most of what was there was shut down. Or had gone out of business. There was a burger shack that looked enticing. When I went inside I discovered a barely existing pickup place. It reminded me of the dilapidated charm of most Ohio diners. I felt terrible as this place had been open for a long time and seemed to be the pride of the town. Overall, desperate times call for desperate measures, and the ladies who run this place surely find ways to put you out. If I ever end up around the Belfair area again, I would not stay here. read more

Very inexpensive, and very nice for a motel. I hear its new owners and I know there has been a remodel. They did a great job. For sure the most comfortable mattress I've slept on in a motel. The decor is modern and cute. Pretty laminate floors instead of carpet (practical! And probably at least part of the reason it doesn't smell bad at all.) I chose this place because it was far cheaper than my other options and to be honest I didn't expect much, but boy was I surprised! My daughter recently got married in July and my whole family arrived from the East Coast, they also made reservations and we didn't have any problems.The mattresses are so comfortable. Don't let reviews older than July 2017 scare you off. The new owners have put $200,000 into a complete remodel. Everything is new. It doesn't smell, beds were comfortable, and they installed wood laminate flooring instead of carpet which I think is a great idea. They accept pets and even have an area for them complete with pet waste bags. If you are tired and don't want to drive an hour to a chain hotel I highly recommend this little motel. read more

This place is about what you'd expect for a local-run place that is as cheap as it is. I stayed for 3 nights in March. I found it clean and pretty quiet. I really appreciated the fridge and microwave and wifi. It was a bit run down around the edges: a patched bathroom door, a safety bolt that didn't lock, a remote which was good for changing channels but wouldn't turn the tv on or off. It was perfectly adequate for my needs but if you expect all things to be in working order at all times keep looking. read more

The only good thing about this motel is the manager and his kind personality, and the room was clean. He warned me about the smoking room but I had NO idea how bad it would be. This is definitely not a place I would stay again. Had to get a "smoking" room as that was all that was available. I thought it would be OK (how smoky could it be?). Well the answer to that is more smoky than anyone could possibly imagine! It smelled smoky on the outside walkway halfway to the room! I don't understand how in the world it could be so smoky! 50 people all chain smoking with the door and window closed? It was overwhelming. I booked a room for two nights but when we arrived we found that none of the agreed upon room requirements were available. I know that mistakes happen but we booked a king room with a kitchenette on the ground floor and we booked with an on-site employee over the phone. This wasn't an online error or an oversight made by a third party booking vendor, we were booked into a room that didn't exist. When we arrived we were given keys to a basic room on the second floor. Then we were told we could hang around for a couple hours while they wrap up the painting and construction going on in the kitchenette room, but that room is only a queen. They were good about refunding our money immediately and we did get another room about 15 miles away and at a higher nightly rate. read more

I'm giving it 5 stars with the recognition that it is a roadside motel (in a town center area, not way out by itself). Its about the nicest motel I've ever stayed in for sure. Super clean, beautifully remodeled, nice folks. It really looks like whomever did the makeover paid attention to detail; nice laminate floors, good paint, fridge actually has a separate freezer door, good cable and wifi... things like that. The RECENT photos with the blue walls and bedding are legit. The red/yellow ones are pre-remodel. My friend used to stay here years ago when it was a dive under prior management and she was blown away. I would stay here again and again without pause. Very nice place. read more
