Following a long transcontinental flight, I was weary and exceptionally jet lagged but eager to put a bit of typical British fare in my stomach. After all, this moment was perhaps my rehashed introduction to expat life in the UK.
Enter The Market Garden, a pub and restaurant slightly hidden yet accessible in the arrivals level of London Heathrow's Terminal 3. It was surprisingly un-busy that late morning hour, which made it easy to wheel my luggage trolley next to the table.
Contrary to most pub-restaurants I've been to, this was fully serviced. We ordered a couple plates of the traditional fry-up (full English breakfast) that included bacon, eggs, sausage, potatoes, tomatoes, beans, and choice of toast. The food was fine and nicely presented. One peculiarity was that the hash brown had a dense, patty-like thickness to it.
Dining options seem limited in this particular terminal, so there's a possibility I'd return to The Market Garden. As it is an airport eatery, prices are expectedly higher. Though still, a fry-up without mushrooms or black pudding is a tad steep in value.
