Waitress and helper were very attentive. Checked back on us frequently and made sure our drinks were always full. The food was delicious as usual (we've been eating here 4 or 5 times a year for 42 years)‼

I love eating at this place which is located in Pollock Pines. The owner is very nice and the staff work very hard and are personable. They took us in even though we had a large group. I like the rustic interior along with the fireplace and it may not be elagant but it is cozy. My wife and I ordered the meat loaf sandwhich and it was smaller than I have gotten in the past and it was dry. Our server was prompt and right on point and she made sure that our drinks were full. Our family ordered burgers and they enjoyed their food and I recommend that when you are on your way to tahoe and you simply want to eat some good food this place is great!

Stopped here for a post run breakfast with friends. The ambiance is definitely old school truck stop circa 1960s, but in a fabulous way. While the restaurant was very busy, the service was friendly and quick. The menu is definitely comfort food and everything that we ordered was delicious. If you're looking for healthy & vegan, this is not the place for you. We had one vegan in the group who ordered dry toast with a side of avocado & the staff was very understanding. We will most definitely be back to this restaurant.

Great hidden gem on the historic Pony Express route. While the original building from the 1800s is no longer here, the current structure is still California Mountain classic, and itself is probably going on 60 years. History aside, food and service were both great, and a walk on the woods after lunch makes a great desert! THE PROS: All good. They even made a fresh pot of coffee just for me! THE CONS: None at all. A great addition to a day in the pines.

Discovered a very tasty treat...the cinnamon roll French toast! I noticed a plate of it next our table, the custom stating it's delicious and decadent. It was definitely delicious. We ordered it as a side dish to share. So glad we did! Service is always so helpful and attentive. The place was quiet for a Friday brunch crowd. Still very worth coming to when in the area!

We love coming here. Portion size is good. Food is very fresh. My kids really enjoyed their hot cocoa. My sons pancake was bigger then his head. My daughter had the half order of biscuits and gravy. It is her favorite! I ordered the lumberjack with French toast. They have a cinnamon roll french toast that is so good. I think he ordered the chicken fried steak. It is so crunchy crust with the tender inside. We have quite a bit from the menu. Lunch is also good. We really enjoy going for breakfast when it is snowing and watching the snow while we eat. They have the fireplace going on cold days to keep it warm. There are lots of old photos of the building and surrounding area. Very friendly staff. A must stop if you are looking for a breakfast spot.

Don't judge the book by the cover. Minus one star because inside and outside are dated and "mountainy," with wood paneling inside and a carpet nearly black from wear and age. But the menu is varied and the food good, generous, and reasonably priced. And it's just a quick turn from highway 50. We were traveling with our dog, so we ate on the patio. It was about 95 degrees out, but with umbrellas, a little breeze, and a plugged-in house fan, it was bearable. Staff was friendly and attentive, bringing water and even some dog biscuits for the pooch. My cheeseburger had an obviously hand-shaped, loose patty, perfectly cooked to the medium well typically recommended for ground beef, several available cheese choices (thank you for not offering only American!), served on a large brioche bun with two large slices of tomato, optional onions (raw or grilled), and a generous leaf of bibb lettuce. (I skipped the pickles.) The French fries were lightly crisp and tender inside - good enough that I ate all of the very large serving, calories and all. My husband had the Chicken Napoli, which turned out to be two large chicken breasts, nicely grilled with a hint of char and served on an enormous bed of spaghetti. The side salad had nice vegetable additions - cauliflower, broccoli, even a beet, and the balsamic vinaigrette was good. The dinner roll was soft with a crunchy top, served with spreadable whipped butter. The spot was a stop on the Pony Express route, so a little fun history too. One odd thing - garlic fries are $2 more than regular fries as side orders, but if you want to substitute garlic fries for the regular included with a meal, it's a $2.99 upcharge. Do they cost $.99 more to make with a meal? But that's a small quibble. If we lived in the area, we'd be regulars when we want a hearty, old-fashioned meal.

Service is good a fun locals place. We had 6 red hat ladies sitting next to us. Three older gentleman deep in conversation, hanging out after lunch. I had French Toast with a side of avocado. The toast was well dipped into the egg but not soggy. A half of avocado that was just perfect for eating. My husband had the cheeseburger with freshly grilled onions. (Not something I see very often) . This is our second time here. We will make this a regular on our trips from the Bay to Echo Lake. Oh! By the way you can't beat the prices

We dropped in for a recent weekday lunch. The food is basic. The staff is welcoming. The interior seems that it has not changed in the past 20 plus years. I am a frequent infrequent customer. Dropping in occasionally throughout the years only if I find myself in the area and feeling peckish. The menu is simple diner fare. Breakfast, burgers, salads, sandwiches, and hot entrees. Breakfast is served until 4pm which is a nice option. The food is very basic tasting. We ordered a club sandwich to share. It tasted fresh and looked great. It came with a hearty side of fries. A plus is that they do not have a plate sharing fee. We sat next to a window. There were a few flies buzzing about trying their darnedest to fly through the glass pane. They kept bouncing off the glass. Not quite the lunch entertainment we were anticipating.

The entire place has a cute, farm-style feel--very country, open, and spacious. They offer outdoor seating as well as beautiful long, communal wooden tables inside. There's a small open kitchen where you can watch the staff preparing the food, and the restrooms were clean and surprisingly spacious. They also carry local donuts, which were absolutely worth trying. We had the apple fritter, which was soft and delicious with the perfect crispy exterior. Our favorite was the almond bar--it was delicate, flaky, buttery, and so good. We also tried a cookie that was equally delicious. For lunch, we ordered the turkey sandwich, which was piled high with turkey and crisp vegetables, the bourbon bacon jam toast with melted brie, and a classic BLT. We kept it simple with water, which is available as self-serve. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the outdoor space. They have cornhole and bocce available to play around the property, adding to the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The staff was incredibly kind, and they also have a small market area featuring drinks, local products, and other items for sale. The entire place is quaint and adorable, both inside and out. I highly recommend Blue Barn Provisions for lunch or brunch if you're in the Pollock Pines area! :) dog friendly.

The sandwiches were a little underwhelming based on the reviews and the price point. I tried the char siu and meat lovers sandwiches which were both on nicely grilled Texas toast. The flavor of the char siu sandwich reminded me of cake noodle and beef broccoli because of the ramen noodles and the overall flavor of the sauce. I didn't get any of the bamboo shoots in the sandwich or maybe they were chopped really small? The char siu was decent, not super tender and not the typical char siu flavor but it wasn't bad. The meat lovers sandwich had a noticeable sweet flavor I'm assuming from the spaghetti sauce but it really lacked depth. It honestly reminded me of canned spaghetti and a sloppy joe. It also seemed like there was no ranch dressing even though it's part of the sandwiches name. I appreciate the creativity and whimsy they've put into their menu. I just don't think the execution and flavor profiles are where they should be.

The new owner Dan has faced many hurtles in acquiring this business. I took the time to sit down with him and discuss my negative review I made. The thing I like the most is the people that work here! They are locals that have been working here for years. They are quick to smile and help you with anything! The "Taco Tuesday's" are amazing!
