RE: owner Andrea - despite my being from out of town, she was warm, friendly, frank, helpful - and very knowledgeable of yoga, anatomy, health. I felt safe entrusting myself, my body into her sequencing. I'm no expert on Yin Yoga, but what I experienced was true to the style of Sarah Powers. I don't think it's a coincidence. Look carefully at the photos in the back of the studio and you'll find one of Sarah and Andrea (!) My ostensible reason for visiting was her David Williams workshop. The workshop ran for four days at a price I could afford. Although the other participants expressed shock and surprise I traveled so far, truth is - what I did wasn't even half so radical as David traveling to India to learn from Patabhi Jois, lol. I'm impressed and eternally grateful that a urban boutique size studio would host a teacher of this caliber. The gathering was intimate - not like those huge, impersonal yoga fests that go off like a rock music concert. The workshop was reasonably priced, the studio has ample parking and the general vibe is clean, well supplied with props, teas, water and goodies were available just like an olde time 70s yoga get together. I had so much fun at the workshop I decided to stay and take a couple of classes from Andrea herself and I was not disappointed. Here's the thing, in order to totally transform you have to let go. Letting go is scary, so you better trust the person you are dropping down to catch you. you can take that literally or metaphorically, take your pick. Alls I'm saying is, here I felt free to go. :)

I can get a package of 6 or 10 classes that don't expire for 90 days! For the business traveler like myself that can't get thier money out of a monthly membership this is perfect. As for programs and equipment, The Club at Green Valley has Les Mills fitness classes (BodyPump, BodyAttack, BodyStep, CXWorx, and BodyVive), they have a great lap pool (it's not Olympic sized, but it's good for getting your laps in), a nice cardio room with plenty of treadmills, elliptical machines, etc., and a weight room. They also feature a unique program for young athletes called Parisi Speed School, which is a program designed to help athletes improve athletic performance, maximize their natural abilities, develop a higher level of self-confidence, and learn to prevent injury. If you live in the Greensboro area, check out The Club at Green Valley or their other club, The Club at Oak Branch. Both locations are great.! Other amenities available are child care (for a reasonable cost), a swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and complimentary towels. There are two weight rooms, two circuit sets, and two cardio areas. Additionally, there is a yoga and ab area for those who want to stretch out or do their own workouts. They also offer an array of programming, including a full offering of Les Mills classes, spin, water aerobics, and small group functional training. There is no comparable gym in Greensboro, especially since The Club has two locations. I have been a member for over 3 years and would never consider changing gyms. Monday nights at 7:10pm is when they have the Vinyasa Flow class, and by the end of the class we were all doing head stands. I love yoga, but I've been out of practice for about 6 months, this class totally ripped me a new one. I recommend going to one of their lighter classes first, if you're in the situation I was in. Side note: They were also voted the best Yoga Studio and Best Massage Therapy in the Triad, by goTriad readers.
