I accidentally dropped my car keys (which also have my house keys) inside one of the StairMaster machines. I went to the front desk for help. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the front desk employee's name, but I'm pretty sure he's new since I've been a member for a long time and I haven't seen him before. Still, he genuinely tried to help and admitted he wasn't familiar with how to open the machine. He then escalated the issue to the manager. The moment Rodney spoke to me; his tone immediately made it seem like the whole situation was my fault. Without even coming out to look at the machine or assess anything, he confidently told me I'd have to wait a week until their technician was available. No attempt to understand the situation, no empathy, no effort--just "come back in a week." At that point, I realized I wasn't going to get any real help, so I started searching up ways to disassemble the machine myself. Then, out of nowhere, Rodney suddenly walked over and switched to this overly polite tone--as if he had just realized how unprofessional he sounded earlier. It felt insincere and honestly frustrating. The lack of professionalism, empathy, and basic problem-solving from the manager was shocking. The front desk staffer was more helpful than the person who's supposed to be leading the location. LA Fitness, please train your managers better. Customers shouldn't be treated like an inconvenience--especially when they need help with something that happened inside your facility.

Management takes great efforts in assuring the facilities are cleaned and well maintained. Fellow lifters are respectful and there seems to be just an unspoken rule of re-racking weights and giving people their space. LL opened roughly 6 mos ago, it's a gym I want to go to, a gym I look forward to going to. I have to drive 10 min to get there vs going to Crunch which is 1 min away. Being in a gym owned and managed by fitness people, seeing fitness competitors working out for upcoming shows or just seeing people who are focused builds my motivation. This gym is hands down the best gym for miles. There's a good amount of cardio equipment, (stairmasters, treadmills, spin bikes etc). There's various benches, plate-loaded and racked machines from various manufacturers. All equipment is carefully curated to meet the needs of the gym's members. And what's best, in the few months they've been open, I've already witnessed at least 6-10 machines be removed and replaced with more high-end pieces. If you can't tell, I'm so pumped (some pun) that The Lifters Lair has opened, I look forward to lifting through the winter.

The reason why is because they know variations of machines and weights. Being as I am familiar with weights and been in the gym for 10+ years with trainers I was looking for something unique. Chris has the ability to adapt it to the functionality of my schedule, write me up programs when I am traveling in a hotel, work with me on dietary needs and overall really care about my progress. He is invested in me as much as I am. He was by far my favorite trainer I've ever worked with and his personality is fantastic. He's a big goof in the gym and likes to have fun while pushing you to your extreme limits. I highly recommend Chris and miss training with him every day as I have moved halfway across the country.

I contacted Chris for personal training at Pure Focus to help me reach my pre-op strength, but not only that, but to help me strengthen my body as a whole. When I first came to Chris my squats were uneven, I had weak calf muscles and glutes, and my quads were weak because of my previous surgery. I also needed to work on my upper body, because as a soccer player I was all legs. Chris was great with working with me, because at first I had limitations because of my knee, but he worked around it and found the best program for me. I got cleared at five months post op to play soccer again, and I attribute that to working with Chris. I worked with him twice a week and every time I went I got better and better. Before I knew it I would look in the mirror and see and even squat, or bench more weight then I thought was possible. After I got cleared I still work with Chris twice a week weight training and also started one day a week for conditioning. Recently, I took fifth place in my nationalaly ranked USAPL powerlifting completion. I squatted 365 lbs, benched 155 lbs and deadlifted 408 lbs! Without Chris my recovery would have never been as successful and quick as it was. Not only does Chris know his way around a gym, he is also an amazing person and truly gives his all when working with a client.
