I come here sometimes on my break To have a drink or two when it's needed! LOL but they have a nice variety of drinks so far the bartenders that I've come across have been friendly and approachable and also giving me advice on different drinks to mix. The good thing about this bar to is that it is inside of a food hall which is called St. Roch market, which has a variety of yummy foods such as seafood, sushi, ceviche, tacos, yummy Italian, vegan bakery, some southern comfort food and mediterranean dishes. Usually I'll go order my food and then I'll go ahead and have a seat at the bar and then my food will arrive to me usually within the next 5 to 10 minutes depending on which location you go to because most the time they cooked to order which is also a plus.

Came to The Mayhaw for happy hour on Friday. Unfortunately they changed the happy hour schedule so I ended up just getting one drink, Fink's Curse, before heading out. Quality My less than stellar review of The Mayhaw is because it derailed a planned happy hour. I actually found the menu to be fun and creative, with some unique cocktails and a decent wine list. My excitement about the cocktails was the reason I still ordered something, even though I was still upset about the prices. Fink's Curse, which is also on the happy hour list, is a combination of dark rum, sweet syrup, egg white, lemon, and red wine float. It is an odd combination of items, but I felt like it worked. It had a bolder flavor than I had imagined, and while I usually feel like the egg white is thrown in drinks as a gimmick, here it was crucial to keeping the drink together. On another day I would have wanted to see what else they had to offer, but instead I was scrambling to change plans. Quantity The cocktail I ordered was served in a tall glass and had decent pours of alcohol. Value The majority of cocktails on the menu cost $12, with a few that were as high as $15. It is far from outrageous, but still not what you want to pay during happy hour. According to their menu they have a selection of their cocktails, as well as a few wines, for $7 Sunday to Thursday 4-7. Online it lists a few more drinks at $6 from Monday to Friday 4-6. Ambiance The Mayhaw sits in the center of St. Roch Market, the new food hall in the Design District. The bar stands out from all the other vendors in the market as it is the only one not against the wall, instead taking up a rectangular spot in the middle of the space. It is a good sized bar and has a little character with these upward arching columns at each end. Barstools are lined up along each side, creating plenty of space for people to sit. It also is easy for people to grab a drink and head to a different table, high-top, or the outdoor area. The way the sound system is set up, one track plays throughout the entire market. And on Friday evening, I would guess it was the bar that chose the tunes, as the upbeat dance music only seemed appropriate for the bar. Crowd The St. Roch Market has about a dozen stands, but I believe The Mayhaw is the only place you can get an alcoholic beverage. As such, I assumed it would be very busy on Friday evening. It turned out to be the opposite, as there were only four or five people total sitting at the bar. The small crowd made the choice to eliminate Friday happy hour baffling, as it was clear the bar still needs a boost in its infancy. Service When I arrived I asked one of the bartenders what drinks were on happy hour and he pointed me to the last page on the menu. After looking it over, I saw happy hour was only Monday to Thursday, different from what was advertised online. I ended up calling over another bartender and showed him the online prices, but he said it just changed and there was nothing he could do. I thought the obvious choice was to honor the menu online and make the edits the next day. I had actually invited other people to happy hour at the bar, and I felt like an ass bringing them somewhere where there was no actual happy hour. Worse still, I checked the website today, which still shows the wrong information over a week later. At this point I can't tell whether it is intentionally deceptive or just incompetence on their part. Either way, they need to get it together. Parking Parking in the Design District has become extremely easy. Valet is only $5, parking garages are $3 for the first three hours, and in the evening street parking is no problem. Extra Maybe I am being unreasonably critical about a cocktail bar that actually puts out solid drinks. But I can't ignore the lack of courtesy to honor the listed happy hour. I also am uncomfortable about a bar that does not fix an issue even after it has been pointed out. It is disrespectful not only to potential patrons who rely on the information, but to other vendors at the market. I can say at least a few stands ended up losing out on business during my visit simply because the bar did not post accurate information.

Nice selection of wines... our cuban/italian bartender helped us choose the right ones to go with our pasta selection from Dal Plin. Need to come back to try their signature cocktails. Those that everybody raves about...

Vieux carre. Traditionally, I've seen this served on rocks. It was great served up. I didn't specify either way.

This is a review where you'll need to do a bit of reading between the lines, because I'm very concerned that by accurately describing how great this place is, I will ruin the experience for myself, and my fellow friends who have already discovered it. Peep the attached photo for the happy hour menu, which I will neither call a good nor bad deal. You can make that decision, based on how you evaluate prices in Miami. I will offer no judgment. Not at all. The Mayhaw is in the St Roch food hall in the Design District. I have not once so much as stepped foot in any store in that neighborhood. Funny enough, I have never seen anyone else ever step foot into a store in the Design District! But, that doesn't mean I'm not willing to get my grub on in close proximity to handbags that are worth more than my parents would pay in ransom to get me freed from Somali pirates. The set-up at the Mayhaw is that it's a New Orleans themed bar. I've been to New Orleans multiple times and had many adult beverages there, that I remember. I'm sure I've had many more that I've forgotten. On this score, Mayhaw does well. Their version of a Hurricane is *not* a Bourbon Street style concoction. As far as I could tell, there was no grenadine, no extra sugar, and I think there was only one type of rum. All of that said, Pat O'Brien's NOLA *classic* Hurricane is garbage. It's unbearably sweet. Mayhaw's is better, even if it won't bring you back to days of flashing random strangers in puddles of bodily fluids at 3am on Bourbon Street. The Vieux Carre is also excellent. I'm typically more partial to Sazerac's, but they're a lot to sip on. Like the Sazerac, the base spirit with a Carre is rye. At Mayhaw they use Old Overholt, which is the absolute correct rye to use in a NOLA cocktail. The little things matter, and they nailed it here. The Carre is something you won't see very often down here in Miami, and it's a very drinkable--but still liquor forward--type of drink. For a bar of its size, the beer options are solid, and they have plenty of wines to go with any sort of food you may have ordered from one of the vendors. Finally, as a matter of principle, I will almost never give a bar with ample power outlets anything less than 5*. It's partially about the outlets themselves being enormously useful, but it's also about the kind of mindset it takes a restaurateur to think to put in outlets. Mayhaw has USB/power outlets at almost every seat. THANK YOU!

The Mayhaw is located in the St. Roch Market in Miami's Design District. The market is somewhat of a food court with various vendors selling their own things from Ceviche to Bibimbap. The Mayhaw is the centerpiece of the market, bringing it all together with some delicious drinks. The bartenders are really cool and friendly. I ordered an Old Fashioned which was really good. We chatted for a few minutes while they were making a drink for themselves that they were testing out prior to adding to the menu. They called it Monkey Potion and gave me a shot of it to try. Very cool and talented staff with an elegant looking bar, I'll definitely grab a drink with them when I'm in the area.

The drinks were tasty but they were definitely understaffed and the bartender that helped us wasn't too friendly, probably because she had 484847 orders. The pros are that they have various types of cocktails and a large selection of wine. Two drinks were $29 which is the average in Miami.

The Mayhaw has amazing cocktails and wines. Fabulous drinks, surrounded by International cuisine and ambiance. Don't come here, the lack of big crowds in the Miami scene is refreshing.

What an amazing evening! Two of my favorite things: A speakeasy, and a tiki bar. So a tikeasy!…read moreSure, it took a couple of tries, and maybe asking the wait staff at the Irish bar next door, where the tikeasy was hiding. You enter an immersive world that really outshines any tiki bar to which I've ever been. The magic radiates out of every nook and cranny. That was complimented by our bartender, Billy, knocking out some perfect killer classics, like a real Mai Tai, and Navy Grog, that, post the 1950s became kind of sugar filled, over-the-top mockeries of the Tiki cocktail arts. No mockery here. Just the old school magic. It's a very analog, and thankfully honest, unhipster revival for a generation who knows not of Bali Hai, Don the Beachcomber, the Mai Kai, and San Francisco's once-great, now seedy Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar, at the Fairmont Hotel, on Nob Hill. The crowd, including the regulars, were a lot of fun. In all, a really awesome evening! Five stars, for all of that, and a sixth for the memories.
