I just like the owner to know that her till would have been way higher last night if it wasn't for her inexperienced bartender that would not deal with a situation on the pool table. You lost three good customers that went to JJ's. We had waited 30 minutes for a pool game that a couple of young kids were playing. Before the game was over all three of them sat down and were on their phones. I went up to the bar and I told the bartender I am leaving because those kids are not playing, and will not finish their game.He could care less if we left or not. We were buying rounds of shots and beer. Those kids were barely even Spending any money. He obviously does not care about your bar. FYI I had only drank 1/2 of beer the entire day when this happened so I was far from drunk. I thought I would go back and give the place another chance since I loved going there 2-3 times a week. When I did I noticed a couple bringing there own drinks in, and they told me it was a probiotic with alcohol. I believe his name was Mack. Since it was the same kid bartending there was no use mentioning it to him. So I was wondering, can we bring our own booze? Lol read more

This place is alright most of the time. Decent environment and bartenders usually, but tonight (2/5/20 12:30am) I ordered a Moscow mule and this bartender didn't put any garnish in it. I thought to myself eh garnish is overrated but it tasted really weird. It wasn't until I was about done with the drink that I realized why it tasted so weird! The new owner bob has totally cleaned this place up! And he doesn't want any low life's in there. I have been there with some gfs of mine and there was an odd guy annoying us and he kicked him out right away. Fun dive bar! They even have an xbox kinect to play with!!! This place is super depressing, but there are really no other bars in Aptos unless you want to go hang out at the Windjammer and hang out with a bunch of felons. The Med is a place you don't choose to go to, it's more of a product of not having anywhere else to go. Shame because the area has lots of potential. read more

Dive bar? I don't know if it's really that "divy" I think they have done a good job of turning it into a local bar and not as much of a "dive" There's a pool table, darts, and sports on tv. The bartenders are all great, especially Joey who works hard and always has a smile on his face. If you're looking for a "nice bar" this isn't it, but it's not dirty either. The locals might make you feel uncomfortable because they don't know you but they're harmless. Grab a beer, saddle up and have a good time. It's definitely not a tourist bar and I wouldn't come in here looking for a "Manhattan" or any type of fruity mixed drink. They have good beers on tap, great shots, and whiskey on the rocks. New owner has made a really honest effort turn the old slummy image into a community asset, however they now are allowing smoking inside which I didn't even realize was legal in California. No food service, but the overall atmosphere is decent, and decor is tasteful. Hope the forward progress will be continued, instead of taking steps backwards. read more

Go on a Fri or Sat night and find full-time local drunks, 20 somethings trying to impress eachother by buying the most expensive drinks and random professionals stoping in for a shot or a glass of wine. This is my husbands and I's very favorite bar. We come here every once in a while when our 10 month old son is being babysat. I've made friends with the lady bartender I wish I knew her name. She is the sweetest and kindest women ever. She cares about her customers and treats everybody like she's known them for years. I love seeing her and she and the opener make the best margaritas ever. I live a couple blocks from The Med and drop in whenever I can. It's obvious the new owner takes immense pride in this bar. It's always clean and the bartenders are friendly...it's a very inviting environment. My girlfriend likes the xbox/kinect corner the best, and I like the beer selection. It's a win-win for us. I am a sucker for a good dive bar.. and the Med is amazing. Todd the bar tender can make a mean drink and is very friendly and consistent. Joey the other bartender is pretty darn entertaining. In the last few years the place has cleaned up. They have tossed a lot the old drunk men out so I feel more comfortable as well its keeping the bar more clean. I will definably keep coming and will bring as many friends as possible :) read more

One of the best chill spots I go to! Different crowd than down town sc, great bartenders. Bob(the owner) and Kimberly(bartender) are the best. If you want pool challenges, darts, and friendly people, come here. They've got a great selection of music on the jukebox and its always a great time. And if they don't have what you're looking for they will always find something creative to make up for it. Kinda stinks in there. Everything is kinda old and either broken or ready to break. Nice bartenders though. Too bad they don't put some money back into the place because it is in a great location. Right down the street from the Seacliff State Beach so that's nice if you wanna have a drink and then go to the beach. I'll bet you could probably park in front and save the $10 to get into the beach. As dive bars go, its a dive so if you like dive bars and don't mind your draft beer in a warm glass, check it out. read more

The Mediterranean has gone through some positive changes. New management, new customers, and some new bartenders! No more meth-heads hanging around, they were asked to leave. No more smoking, cleaner, nicer environment. Close to a few good restaurants and the walking distance to the beach. Great place to meet and greet with other locals, The old management is gone, as well as his followers. It is now a safe, fun, neighborhood bar where you can meet with friends for a beer and don't have to worry about stepping on a broken crack pipe. read more

Bob the new owner is the man. I live in the neighborhood and have been frequenting more now that I've met him. My packer fan friends and I have been watching games there and attending his free bbq sundays for football. He's a huge packer fan!! Each weekend if I pass by I notice it's more and more busy. Bob is very personable about visiting with customers but gets behind the counter to serve as well. I've been having a good time and really hope this becomes a hotter neighborhood spot. read more

Went here a couple years ago and it was nasty. Stopped by on a weekend and looks like it is under new ownership. A LOT cleaner now. Has Jukebox, pool table, pinball machine and some type of PlayStation set up. SUPER close to the beach too. I will be back for sure. read more

This place used to be so grungy (even for a divebar) but with the new management and all the upgrades that have been made, this is my first pick when going out!!! The owner and all the tenders are amazing, the drinks are nothing short of impressive (you can actually taste the alcohol in your mixed drinks!!) They have this rad BBQ on sundays to watch the games and everyone in there is rad. My favorite drunken night involves a lot of bowling on the xbox kinect and making a fool of myself while "practicing" pool...They're on the right road to bettering their reputation...this place needs to be put on the map as a go-to bar.. there's a lot less drama and bullshit than ever!!! read more

The Med is a fun bar with pro hand picked bartenders who do not leave you waiting for a drink. Joey or Stacey are two of the quickest bartenders in town, and enjoy what they do. Most Sundays there's free Polish dogs, chili, and potato salad that Joey serves up. Its typically a good time to be had at The Mediterranean.... However there is a bouncer that works nights named Sterling who I've observed kicking patrons out for laughing too loud or somerimes no particular reason at all. He's a big boy and your stereotypical "Bully". Not sure why Bob the owner keeps him around. He puts a weird vibe out when he's working and maybe thinks he's the owner when he is. But aside from the unprofessional bouncer the Med is probably the best bar in Altos. read more

The best bar in Aptos. My only complaint is that it can be a bit crowded, but that can happen when you run a good bar. Friendly atmosphere and decent prices. Conveniently located next to good Mexican food, which is also open late. read more
