I have had the salmon salad on three occasions. Excellent. Best in Lincoln. Service, I thought, was excellent.

Food and service were very good. Bread pudding was one of best I've ever had. Cocktails were great as well.

Food is very good here but what sets this place apart from the rest is the owner/executive Chef. Service was above and beyond.! Thank you !

There were parking spots outside. It was pretty empty when we arrived- just a couple of tables occupied. They do have a full bar and tables and booths for seating. And you can choose to seat by the bar as well. We took a table seat. They gave us a while and came back for our orders. I ordered Garden City and bourbon salmon for lunch (that was the lunch special) - not on the menu. Drinks took about 10 minutes to come. My drink was wrong when it came. I thought it strange the drink I ordered listed empress gin but it was colourless. So when our food came, I asked what I ordered just to ensure that they delivered the correct drink. Our server just went sorry my colleague made this let me check. And eventually came back with the correct drink. Garden City was pretty but a little strong in terms of alcohol. It was a pleasant surprise when our food came. The sides were brocccolini and yellow coconut rice together woth the bourbon salmon. I would say this is the most delicious salmon I've had in Lincoln. Hubby wasn't feeling well but thought his chicken wrap was delicious. I sneaked his fries and it was the way I liked it. Very crispy. Overall, a good experience. We will be back. I stumbled upon this place trying to find a place to watch a volleyball game and have good food and I was shocked that this place was empty because the food was to die for!! This place could serve someone with any craving: bar food, full meal, apps and drinks! I got their wings but we also split the waffle fry nachos which are a MUST!! I'm not sure how this business is even running with how bad things were tonight. We came in at about 7:30pm, with a group of 11 and the restaurant had maybe 2 large tables and several tables that needed to be bussed. That should've been the first sign. The hostess was incredibly rude and had the attitude that she'd rather we leave. But we decided to wait the 35 min she stated. Somewhere in there, the bar tender up and left and never returned. The tables never got cleaned and when we should've been seated the hostess came back and said, "oh well we are out of several things like steak, salmon and mashed potatoes." And was annoyed that we said that was fine. Then she still basically refused to seat us. So finally we left. I would never go back here based on this experience. They weren't even busy. Clearly understaffed. The manager should be fired and the owner should be ashamed to run a business like this. They'll close soon enough if they keep that up. read more

From the moment we arrived we felt important! Went to dinner with a friend on a random Wednesday and were treated so well. Our server, Santana, was so attentive and patient with 2 ladies who love to gab. We ordered drinks, I strongly recommended the raspberry margarita it tastes like summer in a large cool glass! We shared spinach artichoke dip and LOVED it, we were not too hungry after the dip so we shared a wrap and the only disappointment was I couldn't finish it! The prices were reasonable for the large amount of food, we sat outside to enjoy the weather and appreciated that despite being the only ones outside we did not feel neglected. The other day I happened to see the restaurant tucked around the corner from the Le Quartier bakery. I wondered if it was even open. Decided to try it with some friends from out of town. Went here for a pre grad ceremony when our son got his PhD from University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He knew the owner and it was part to support mom and pop shops and partly to catch up. From the extensive beer selections to the top shelf liquors and excellent mixed drinks the laughs soon followed. We did steak salad, salmon, burger, chicken tenders, a steak and even a french dip that was not on the menu. Each and every item presented was delicious. Though we did not necessarily need it or have room for it, orders or bread pudding and creme brule hit the table only to be swooned over by all present. When you walk in there is a hand painted definition of the word "mettle" We listened to the owners story of his struggles to get this business off the ground after he and staff being on the wrong end of some shady dealings. Covid, closings and no guarantees? Sometimes your mettle is all you have. And if you are thinking of furthering your eduation, you will need a few sacks full.of it.my friends. So go here for the food. You won't be disappointed but just know that beneath the mural, if you could listen to the tales the paint and drywall could spin about the truly good things these people stand for, well you just might slot them into your regular rotation. read more

We tried Mettle Grill for the first time on a Wednesday. It wasn't busy and we were seated after a short wait as the hostess was taking a phone order. Our server arrived quickly and soon we each had our favorite local draft beer in front of us. I ordered the cheeseburger with coleslaw. My husband ordered the fish and chips. The food arrived pretty fast and piping hot. The burger and slaw were delish. My husband said the fish and chips were some of the best he's ever had and he's picky about his fish & chips. The owner stopped by our table to thank us for coming. He recommended the bread pudding so we tried it. Amazing!!! The best I've ever tasted -sorry Mom. Highly recommend The Mettle Grill. Casual evening at the Grill. Highly recommend! They have a variety of menu options to please anyone in your crowd. Apps, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, steaks, even a pork chop option. I enjoyed the Salmon BLT. It's served with chipotle Mayo which gives it a nice kick. My partner had a beautiful little sirloin with nicely prepared green beans and a generous serving of very tasty mashed potatoes. Indoor seating is spacious. Outdoor seating is on a quieter parking lot and not on a busy street making conversation easy. They were out of soup and dessert in the later evening when we were there, and that's ok. It means their food is fresh and they are busy, which I like to see in a local restaurant. Service was terrific! Travis did a great job of being attentive without needlessly hovering. His recommendations and knowledge of the menu were appreciated. Since the other place on 9th street closed -- this is now in my top 5 Lincoln restaurants. We will be back! read more

I ordered take out, which is risky for burger/fries, BUT, they put foil in the styrofoam container & what a game changer for take out burgers! Great find. We just moved here and this place was next to our bank so we thought we'd try it. Nice place with comfortable seating and attentive staff. We've been back a few times now and the quality of the food and the service have been consistently high. They were able to accommodate our six month old granddaughter and serve us great food and good drinks. It'll be on our dining rotation. read more

I had high hopes for this new spot. Online they had nachos but when we got there they said they took nachos and salmon off the menu before they even opened in September. We had a 30 minute wait with many tables empty. Very under staffed. The food was pretty good actually but pretty over priced for a local bar and grill with very very slow service and very high prices for what you get. Overall.... I would have paid the price if the wait was less and the service was better but sadly that's not how it turned out. read more

Our family went to the Mettle Grill on Mothers Day. I have to say that the employees were fantastic. They were very accommodating and attentive to our needs. I was somewhat disappointed in the food. Although what I had was good, everything was cold except for when they replenished the steamed vegetables. I got there right away and they were hot and delicious. I was surprised that there was not some sort of salad type items and desserts. Being Mothers Day, we all were wanting something sweet at the end of the meal. We had a 5 year old who did not eat much but we were charged the 10 dollars. We had to specifically mention that the 1 year old that was with us did not eat enough to warrant a kids fee. I am sure the buffet price is the "going rate" for other buffets but I would have liked to see more items and more of a variety. We heard good things about this location from a few different people and were excited to meet friends for dinner. Our food was good but the drinks were very overpriced and the service was incredibly slow! We arrived at 515 and were seated immediately. I got the Ruben and fries and my husband got the peanut butter burger and sweet potato fries. The couple we were with had the Reuben with green beans and the salmon salad. The fish looked beautiful and the Rueben's were very good with super thin slices of corned beef. The true star was the sweet potato fries - they were crispy and perfect! We finally got water refills from the hostess.... Once we all shook the ice in our glasses. If they can correct their staffing and kitchen expediting they have a chance - but we likely won't be back to find out. read more

Food is good . waitstaff was on point. The decor was kinda previous trend with the vinyl writing on the wall however it was clean . The chairs need some felt pads or something because they are loud. There was four of us we each had different items as well as 2 appetizers. The only complaint was cold mashed potatoes other than that they did very good . The stand out to me was the loaded french fries which they managed to get topping on everyone of those fries. These folks are on par, similar to and located near Lazlos . Yet they weren't busy on a Saturday night. So if you drive by Lazlos and decide they are too busy give Mettle a shot. read more

I'm not a restaurant snob at all, but there is just something 'off' about about the decor and atmosphere. It's best described as a school cafeteria with a bar. We each ordered a burger so nothing fancy. No word from the the wait staff on why it was taking so long. After more than 45 minutes were just standing up to leave when our food finally arrived. My review is based on a take out order. I had some higher ups visiting from our corporate office, and I've been wanting to try this place. From start to finish, Paige, knocked it out of the park. She made recommendations, and she made sure that I didn't accidently over order. She got the order right, repeated it back to me, and took payment. When I arrived at the restaurant; it was very busy; and Paige was extremely friendly. She made sure that we had all of the appropriate utensils and condiments and that everything looked good before I left. The food was so good: We ordered the salmon blt, the mac and cheese, cheeseburger, spinach artichoke dip, chicken bacon ranch wrap, and chicken fingers; everyone loved their food. It was hot and fresh, even after the drive back to the office. I had several other colleagues arrive the next day, and I sent them there for dinner.
