Once paid, they offered little further assistance. Significant miscommunication between staff members on essential elements of our filing. Longer version: We hired a tax preparation service to help navigate changes to our filing status after getting married. Our tax consultant, Garrett Jones, began working on our application with the wrong filing status. After correcting this error, there was poor communication regarding important changes that needed to be followed up on, which resulted in IRS notices arriving in June. When I raised my concerns with Garrett, his guidance was vague and he offered no clear timeline for resolution. Weeks later, with no progress made, I was left with the impression that once he had been paid, his investment in us as clients had ended. I spent approximately 10 hours on the phone with the IRS trying to sort out the status of our account. Throughout this process, Garrett maintained that I owed approximately $2,000 to the IRS -- when in fact I had a pending refund of approximately $2,000. In the end, we were left with a significant miscalculation, poor customer service, and no choice but to resolve everything ourselves. I'm still unclear what the fee we paid to Crossroads Financial Planning actually covered. Highly recommend taking your taxes elsewhere.

I was in the process of meeting several financial planners on behalf of my parents and came across…read moreDelia's information through a location search via letsmakeaplan.org. Her name was also familiar based on mentions in Los Angeles Times "Money Makeovers" articles. She is fee-only -- $275/hour -- or a percentage of AUM. Just depends on your needs. No charge for initial consultation. She provided a Form ADV which is a public disclosure form required by the SEC which details firm info, personnel info, services provided, fees, etc. I appreciated the fee-only structure because she is not incentivized to push clients to certain brands or products (i.e. annuities) for a commission like previous advisors we met. She made recommendations based on client fit and risk tolerance taking into account my parent's entire financial picture (cash flow, real estate, taxes, etc.). For my parents, who are passive investors and didn't need much hand-holding, we determined advisement/adjustments on a quarterly basis was the best route. Her demeanor was friendly, informative and patient. All of which conveyed a sense of trust and assurance for my parents. We are not official clients but looking forward to the next official review.

I was clear from the beginning about the purpose of the consultation when we spoke on the phone and was willing to work with me to schedule the consultation. On the consultation date after i uploaded my docs, she just did not seem prepared. Amongst a series of problems, from the start she focused on how I could use the software program, not my primary concern. Worse, we spent 45 minutes on the phone with the software technical assistance person (who now also had access to my financials) trying to figure out a fairly simple comparison. At certain points they both appeared to forget I was there. Suffice to say, I left that consultation without my main issue fully addressed. Final straw, when I emailed her later that day to express my dissatisfaction, she never responded. She is probably a great CFP, but with this customer the experience was an epic failure.

I'll never forget in one of our final sessions when Michelle said, "You could be in your dream home by this summer." Those words became a mantra that carried me through the stress and uncertainty of simultaneously selling and buying a home. Throughout March, April, and May, I repeated them often - and she was right. Today, we're living in our forever dream home and couldn't be more grateful. We're enjoying time with family, friends and watching our two Labrador Retrievers swim in the pool we always dreamed of having. A huge thank you to Michelle for helping us believe this goal was possible and for giving us the confidence and roadmap to achieve it. If you're considering working with her, I can honestly say the impact extends far beyond finances--it can truly help change the course of your future.

Living paycheck to paycheck--despite having solid incomes and no kids--was frustrating and stressful. We initially expected to walk away with a simple budget. What we got was so much more. Michelle didn't just organize our numbers--she gave us clarity, confidence, and peace of mind. She removed the fear we had around money and replaced it with a real plan and direction. More importantly, she set us up for long-term success and a stronger financial future. We truly can't recommend her enough.

My review, however, I believe is based as much on general policy as it is with really excellent service. I inherited a fairly large chunk of money and split it between the Wells Fargo Advisors and Fidelity. I have previously had a fair amount of experience with Merrill Lynch and Dean Witter. Of that group of four, Wells Fargo Advisors (with a relatively small investment) treated me like I was their only customer. A lot of personal attention from one person assigned to my account, numerous email and telephone contacts, and a successful concern with my risk tolerance and that my investments were making money. The other three would not assign one person to my account (I had to speak to whoever was available), paid no attention to my account, and Fidelity even refused any one-on-one email contact with an account adviser. Those three told me not to expect any personal attention until my account exceeded $250,00 to $300,000. Wells Fargo Advisors, with an investment of far less, was happy to give me excellent advice and one-on-one personal service with the same person who knew me. All four of those firms charge the same 1% to manage the account. The expertise I feel my Wells Fargo Advisor guy has seems considerably better than what I got from the pool of advisers from any of the other three firms. Truth be told, I have no love for Wells Fargo but Wells Fargo Advisors seems to be separate. The service and attention I have received from Wells Fargo Advisors is a world of difference from those other four mega huge financial investment groups. I strongly recommend them.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! very knowledgeable and works hard to get you the best tax return possible!…read more This was my first time going to a private CPA since I've always just gone to H&R block and their commercials swear they get you the most money back and I had been suckered into their false corporate marketing scheme. This year I started a home office so I was told to find a good tax guy since H&R block never really goes out of their way to ask questions about misc. work expenses and I didn't get a great return last year. I don't know so much about taxes or write offs but he went over EVERY little detail with me and explained things very clearly that I didn't understand. I cant believe I threw money away by not doing this the last few years. He truly went out of his way to get me the most back possible but also being legitimate and making sure all right offs were legal so if I were to get audited I had all documentation needed. Hes great at what he does, easy to talk to, and it became very obvious he has alot of experience in the industry. :)
