Visiting St Augustine during the holidays and Nights of Lights means tons of people walking the city (and driving). This means long wait times to sit down at restaurants and long lines if you choose to grab a bite to go. We luckily ended up here while we waited to be called at other places where we had been told the wait times were 1.5-2 hrs. We divided our group of 16 into smaller groups and we were all able to sit down right away. There was live music which went great with the ambience of this place. The service was great. We all tried different dishes and one suggestion would be to include a side with the dishes that don't include it. Recommendations to give a try would be the burger and the buffalo boneless wings. As far as parking goes, we parked in the main garage by the visitor's center and walked the whole day. This place must have been about a 10 min walk from the garage. Keep in mind, this is not a fancy restaurant, but it's good for a quick bite or drink during the day. read more

Doing some day drinking on St. George Street and heard tunes coming from this upstairs venue, so we decided to climb the dark stairway and check it out right in the middle of a rendition of "Brandy" (Looking Glass) circa 1972 this guy was killing it. We went left into the tree house side since the bar was filled and found a two top next to a translucent window. Our server wasted no time greeting us and dropped off a few food menus as we explored the drink selections from the plastic placard. We chose a Purple Lollipop and a Vodka Mule, they arrived in a chilled draft glass and were so refreshing and very alcoholic - the acoustics are great, the service was attentive but maybe a little over-focused being this place only had a few customers, his interaction was strictly business but that was okay we were only here for one drink and a few songs, he did lighten up after I convinced him I didn't need change and yes I am over-tipping you on purpose (finally a grin). Our party of 7 had a good experience here. We had great service & good food. My Blackened chicken sandwich had good flavor & I loved that the chicken was really thin & well done. My husband had basic chicken nachos but liked them. There was a live band but it wasn't overpowering. I will note that you go up the steps to be seated & the bathrooms were down the steps. It was the end of the night on Sunday night and we just wanted to have a little nightcap and saw that this location was open and located on the second story providing views of the mainwalk below. They do have patio seating so we chose to sit outside and watch people, as they wandered by. Whoever the bartender was had such high energy and he was incredibly funny. Definitely would come back just for his alone service. My husband got the old-fashioned and I opted for watermelon Collins which basically was Wheatley vodka with watermelon juice. Whenever my husband and I visit St.,Augustine we always have lunch at the Milltop! The atmosphere is relaxed and the location is right in the heart of the little shopping area, across from the picturesque water. The live music is always great, and the staff has always been phenomenal. Our drinks are always topped off, and we are always offered another beer before our glass is empty. Today we just had several different apps to snack on. My husband said his Buffalo wings were great and the loaded fries and pretzel bites were delicious. Tony and I stopped at the Mill Top Tavern in St Augustine Florida on Historical George Street. We stopped to cool off because it was like 90 degrees outside and Tony wanted a beer. This was a quick pit stop to escape the crazy heat outside and get a little refreshing cocktail. This is also a place my dad has been to for many years, so he had a chance to share some fond memories during our pit stop. The bartender was funny and friendly. This definitely isn't the 'buttoned-up' service you might expect at other places on St. George St! Jim G. and I grabbed a drink and headed to the balcony with my dad for some great people watching. As a few others have mentioned, the speakers on the balcony are SUPER loud, but that is also how they are luring people in. The music was good, the drinks had a good pour on them, and it was nice to take a little break in the shade. This was a very enjoyable stop, especially for midday on a Monday! read more

To start this off on a good note, the drinks were good and the music was good. However, the service was probably the worst I have ever had. We ordered drinks and food. Drinks came -all good. After about an hour (yes an hour) of catching up with friends we noticed people who came in probably 30-45 minutes after us being served. I called the waitress over and asked where our food was. She pulled out her pad, ran over to the register, came back with menus and said sorry I threw your order slip in the garbage. Here are the menus, you can just order again. Really. We were ignored for an hour, did not put our food order in. To which our group (who all traveled for the past 3-4 hours, were all hungry and just sat there being ignored for the past hour, said no thank you. Can you please get our check? With a little attitude she handed us the check, yes it was the total amount of the drinks, not looking for a handout at all, but at least comp 1 of the several drinks we ordered, nope. We paid and left. I get service staff are busy, and there may be delays at times, but to flat out forget to put our order in, ignore us and then give us a nonchalant attitude about it was horrible. Also, the place was only about 1/3 full, being busy was not a factor. Would not recommend going there. Great thing was, there are a lot of places to choose from so we went done the street and spent our money at a different place. This second story restaurant bar was just what we needed. Awesome live music, beach drinks and good burgers. My wife had the fried fish sandwich with she loved. Our waitress was fabulous and our order came back correctly, as we were very specific with our orders. Many of our orders, which was a party of seven, was extremely specific such as the chicken sandwich with no onions or the pretzel bites without the garlic parm included in the order. The food came out the kitchen extremely fast and it was very fresh and delicious. Now, the only downfall for me was the live music. Of course, live music is loved by certain people. However, if you're like me, and don't like live music, I don't recommend coming. The music was very loud and as I was eating I can feel the music vibrating in my mouth and it was simply very uncomfortable. The six people that I was attempting to talk to, I wasn't able to hear because the music was so over powering. This is a neat bar with good drinks and live entertainment. Located up stairs along St. George Street, with a nice balcony overlooking the street. Beer was cold and bartender accommodating. If you're looking for a historic bar that has great live music selections, cold beer and wings, this is your place to go. We stopped here recently on a "bar crawl" of sorts in St. Augustine. We opted to sit outside, so we had a view from their deck. What did I order? A lemon drop martini, of course. Was it good? A LOT of changes have happened to this building and bar recently. We actually came here after our wedding reception six years ago, and revisited it recently for nostalgia sake, and to bring our little one to see it. They've redone the whole bar and the lower part of the building. The views are definitely not as good as they use to be. On the upside, it's got great cross breeze on nice days, and a long list of drink offerings. They have standard bar food options as well - think fries and burgers and such. Prices were reasonable for being directly on St. George, and there wasn't a wait for seating or service. Overall: B Not in love with the changes made from previous, but still a solid bar. read more

The Purple Lollipop is hands down one of the best drinks I've had on St. George St. It even came with a purple lollipop. Sweet and delicious! Very much like a grape popsicle. First time here in St Augustine and stopped at this place for lunch. The place has an option to dine in closed doors or open area on the 2nd floor. The place is nice and has an old beach feel to it. I didn't get a before picture of the food because we were too hungry lol. The BBQ nachos was delish and it is large enough for two people to share. They had a special "Housemade Gumbo" it was delish as well. One of the ladies ordered the Cuban and that too was big enough for two people to share. It was very filling and came with fries. Probably one of the better Cuban sandwiches I've had. The wait staff are great. They are quick to great you and refill your drinks when needed. My first time visiting the Milltop Tavern, at least I believe so. (I might have when I was little).The food was delicious, hot, and fresh. Kacy was playing an awesome set and with the gorgeous weather yesterday, it was a wonderful day to be in St. Augustine. Where we sat, you could catch a small view of the water, and boats. And the cross breeze was perfect and cool. Our waiter James? (It was a J name) was on top of our drinks! And he timed our appetizer and lunch PERFECTLY. Our food arrived at the table all at once. This was the place my wife wanted to go to because she remembered it from a while ago before the place had a restoration after a hurricane. A tree was supposed to be growing through the middle of the restaurant. And when we got there , the tree was in the middle of a few buildings and a new deck was added to the place. The service and food were good as the mahi tacos were tasty and came with fries. Bloody Mary's were off the hook and really enjoyable and tasty.
