It consists of four separate buildings ranging in size from 1,000 sf to 10,450 sf. Hopefully some national shops and eateries will jump on board and bring some life to Wailuku and introduce some new options & flavors to the island in general. We'll see! The population area surrounding the mall is growing fast, and hopefully marketers are researching this. So, for now it's a 3-star. Access is safe and easy from Kaahumanu Ave or Maui Lani Pkwy. Parking is plentiful due to low tenant occupancy. It has 103,249 square feet of leasable space on approximately 12 acres. Access to the complex is off of Ka'ahumanu Avenue, with the main entrance off of Maui Lani Parkway. There are 4 buildings in this complex. Safeway with an attached building of 10,450 square feet, a 2-story office building (next to Safeway), a "restaurant" building and a building for shops (along Maui Lani Parkway). The complex went through several changes before it was even built. Originally proposed with a larger Safeway and another attached building (on its' mauka side), it was also to have a gas station. Neighbors in the adjoining neighborhood opposed the idea and the developer revised their plans. The complex was scaled down with no gas station and the proposed entry off of Kainani Street was moved. Also removed was the fifth building that was proposed on the mauka side of the property. Another issue was the discovery of human remains and burials on the property. Local Hawaiian groups opposed the building of the shopping center, noting that it was an ancestral burial ground (pre and post contact). The developer eventually kept several burials in place and marked them (as designated by the Maui/Lana'i Burial Council) with stone markers, a bronze plaque (stating it was a native Hawai'ian burial site, site identification number, AND to respect the area) and metal fence to enclose it. Filling up this shopping center has been slow. There are spaces for a possible 25 tenants, but so far only 6 have opened up. The proposed "restaurant" building is empty and rumours ran rampant that it was the site of Olive Garden.

I had some downtime during my visit to Maui on a recent weekend of January 2017. I had some time before returning to the airport so I drove around and bumped into this shopping center, so I decided to stop in and see what the dealio is. This shopping center is not really a place you would call a "hub of economic activity", but it works for the people who reside here in this part of Maui and for those visiting as well. I arrived here around 3 PM and basically McDonald's anchors they entire shopping Villa. The entire shopping strip mall is what it is and it does not seem like it has seen better days but if at all. More than likely this strip mall has not even begun to see better days at all, just because it is used to the homespun atmosphere that it is experience with in the last 15 to 20 years. It does feel like that from time to time, but for what it's worth, I think that this place could use a facelift or two. The overall experience here at Wailuku Town Center was that of average and could be better. I did like that there was a supermarket here though, so you don't have to drive too far for stuff. The Wailuku Town Center is located at 45 Puunene Avenue here in. Wailuku. Many merchants here accept major credit cards, so that's always a great thing to do. The parking here is fairly good, with a lot of spaces to park your car in. While this place does have a limited parking, keep in mind that coming here early and doing your business early enough so you can find parking here without much hassle. Like many shopping centers peak time he's always around mealtime and rush-hour. It does not seem like rush-hour or meal times have happened here very often. Many, if not all merchants, accept major credit cards, which is always a great thing for those of us who carry plastic and not enough cash. Since this place is anchored by McDonald's, you know your can get a good meal after an afternoon of shopping and stuff. For what it's worth though, it's a cute little strip mall that has seen better days. Why did I come here? Probably just to shop before flying out of Maui and to kill time too. Plus, I saw the McDonald's yellow arches, so it was the time to come here for a drink and a snack or two. For the time I spent here at the Wailuku Town Center, I think it was well worth the time and gas to come here. While it's not the Queen K Mall or even the Maui Mall in Kahului, having a small shopping strip mall in Wailuku can always be a convenient way of shopping here and not go too far into Kahului to run errands and what not. For those of you who enjoy this place, I feel that this place is cute for what it does, but not much more than that. I bet many people do either grocery shopping and The McDonald's here. Not much of anything else though. If you are in the area, feel free to come here and look around, you may find something worthwhile here. For me, it was a light meal at Macdonald's and some shopping to kill time before heading back to the airport and dropping off the rental car. Maybe Queen K Mall is better, but at least McDonald's is here. 3.0 stars for the overall experience. Could have been better, but at least the parking was good and adequate on a Monday holiday afternoon in January. Support local! C

When I went to purchase a Neopolitan Ice Cream Cake, the "bakery manager" said he has never gotten that particular cake, ever, and he's been there for many years. Oh, yeah, well this store has been open only a year. I could have talked till I was blue in the face that that's where I saw it and that's where I bought it in the past. I see it there still. Today, went to get their strawberry-lemon meringue pie that was on sale. They didn't have any available and the employee said she could have one made for me that would be available at 5pm. I declined. Went to the self-checkout employee for rain check. She said it's not a special and called the bakery department, who confirmed it was not on special. Why the heck did I go there in the first place if not to buy that pie on sale as advertised?!! Returned home and checked the specials on line and there it was, on sale!!! Robin, the manager, nice guy by the way, confirmed it was. He said they had sold out and they would be making more today. To heck with going back to the store So, if these employees were already labeling this pie over the course of 3 days since the special started, wouldn't you think they would know that it's a special of the week? Maybe they are on automatic pilot and like machines, the hands work, but there is no brain.

You can get plain, cinnamon and butter, cinnamon and cream cheese, blueberry and cream cheese, strawberry and cream cheese, butter cream cheese, ube cheesecake, haupia cream, strawberry guava cream, or guava cream. On our first visit, we arrived around 2pm and they only had butter cream cheese left. We decided to return the next day and buy two more loaves to bring to our next stop in Oahu and ordered a cinnamon butter and an ube cheesecake. These are so tasty and I can see why the bread is so popular. And, that's not all! You can also get fresh lemonade, coffee, pizza, sandwiches, poke bowls, açaí bowls, and sherbert. There's more than food here, too. The name of the store reflects that it sells wares from local artisans from Maui, Molokai, and Lanai. There is clothing, hats, art, and more for sale. Truly local and we loved it.
