Are you ready for their pizza? You better be because it's gonna take you to another planet on how good it is! We had the field of greens (made on a kids size because we had dinner plans later). Also I love the Michigan paraphernalia and sports memorabilia decorated throughout the building. Plenty of TVs to keep everyone entertained too. We got there around 5 pm and beat the rush which made all the difference for service. On our exit, the line was out the door. Detroit deep dish is one thing, but this is some premium pizza. I have never been to a pizza place where they are able to have each piece customizable ! This was so cool for me because I'm always indecisive when it comes to pizza! This place is in an older building near downtown and when you walk in has a really old but homey atmosphere. It's not very big so I can see where it would get packed especially on a busy Saturday night. Luckily, we were here on a Sunday afternoon and able to get a table in the back. We ordered some of their beer samples and it came out in a cute mitten when served. I really liked their different beers and it was reasonably priced as well. The pizza was really good overall and again the fact that we were able to get different flavors in one pie was awesome. We came on the Sunday before Memorial Day around 6:15. We were told there would be a 45 min wait, we ended up waiting about an hour. Since we've never been here before, we wanted to try a few items in the menu so we were happy they offer a pizza flight as well as a beer flight. Choose 6 pizzas off the menu including the special of the day. Each option comes in 4 pieces (about a 4-5 in circle). We chose Mediterranean, Mac Daddy, Pepperoni, Deluxe, Hog Heaven, (pulled pork), Westerdog (coney dog). All were really good. We also ordered the pickle play breadsticks and cheese bread. I am not sure what changed - possible new staff, new management or both. We have frequented Mitten Brewing when in the area with no issues or complaints. We stopped in a week ago, on a Friday afternoon, when there were only 4 or 5 tables of people. We sat there for 15 minutes with no wait staff coming over to our table. The wait staff served tables directly to either side of us, and were then observed standing the bar just talking for several minutes; still no acknowledgment or service. After 20 minutes, we ended up getting up and leaving. Very disappointed. I try to give the benefit of the doubt but after seeing the staff walk past us, with no drinks or items on our table, with no acknowledgment for more than 15 minutes, that's hard to justify. Gluten free pizza flight is the stuff of dreams. We visited around 2pm for a late lunch and had no problems parking down the street in a resident area and choice of any seat as desired; which was great because it gave us opportunity to ask the waitress all the questions. We settled on an appetizer of gluten free Phil Sticks which had the perfect bit of heat and delicious buttery crust, we devoured them. Then for lunch we had a gluten free pizza flight and there wasn't a single pizza we wouldn't have enjoyed more of. Note that the flight says it feeds four however a gluten free flight is significantly smaller than a regular flight but worth it. The non-gluten free diner enjoyed a Stromboli who, and I still don't understand this, exclaimed there was just too much cheese which equated to more chewing than she desired. However, when it cooled down and the cheese was no longer melty, she said it was much better. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely go back again. read more

What a great local pizzeria. I really enjoyed getting the flight of pizza which allows you to select from six different pizzas. We had a great time but we did not drink any beer because we are working at the time. The ambience is very nice much like many of the other breweries in the area. Visiting Grand Rapids for 4 nights and we found The Mitten Btewing Co. via Yelp...great find.... We walked in with no reservation and were greeted and seated by the friendly hostess who ended up being our server. Mom & pop sized, brick walls, sports and beer influenced decor adorned the walls. If you told me that the building was a brewery in it's previous life, I'd believe it. Pesto Chicken Pizza - Absolutely delicious. The pesto sauce and chicken were fresh and savory. The artichoke hearts, mushrooms, tomatoes and mozzarella were rounded out to make this a great pizza. Let's not forget about the crust, soft yet crispy enough to keep the slices firm. Cuban Sandwich - The house smoked pulled pork really stood out in this sandwich. The ham, cheese, dijonnaise complimented the pork. If you're a cubano fan like me, give Mitten's a try. Mitten Hefeweizen - The in house Hefeweizen was refreshing and tasty. This was a nice German Wheat beer Both of our Uber drivers spoke highly of the Mitten Brewing Co. and we understood why. Good things to say all around. We've had mitten beer occasionally through the years and generally been underwhelmed-- but it seems they have really stepped up their beer game! My pale ale and kolsch were both crisp and clean and delicious. Dark beers were the hit though. Pizza flight was so fun for us to try specialty pizzas as a whole group and was plenty of food for 4 adults. Kids menu offers Mac n cheese and small cheese/pep pizzas. For the non-beer drinkers, you have to try their homemade root beer. I usually get a couple to go cause it's so good. The inside seating is very cozy and comfortable. They also have tons of outdoor seating either on a covered patio out front or in their large covered concrete back yard area. Wow, where do I begin. Midwestern beer and brewery food, can't go wrong. Every beer on tap that I tried was at least good and some were great. They do flights so I got to sample 6 taps. And the pizza flight is genius. Also they will accommodate making either vegetarian or vegan versions of their pizza which is *chef's kiss*. Nothing in the pizza flight (also a great concept) disappointed. I would be here constantly if I lived in Grand Rapids, with their dog friendly patio and great vibes. This brewery has been on my list for so long so I'm glad I was finally able to try it! Really cool spot with fun decor. I loved the name of all their beers. I got the ty cobbler (peach cobbler sour ale) and it was so good! I got the side salad to start and their house made ranch dressing was the good restaurant ranch if you know what I mean haha. My friend ordered the pesto chicken pizza and I got the westerdog. Both were really tasty! The crust was super good too. It was pretty quick for pizza! We had the deluxe, meats, mushrooms and peppers. The spice level was perfect. And I loved that they didn't saturate it with cheese. One of the top pizzas I've had. Since we were traveling we only had one beer. They had so many to choose from but we settled on the Relief Session IPA and the Country Strong IPA. Both were great, with the Country being a little happier but also sweeter. We ate outside in "the outfield" . It's a parking lot patio with picnic tables and umbrellas. We sat in the sun but there was shade availability. Music on the speakers and a smoker sending us luscious whiffs of cherrywood. They smoke their own pulled pork sandwiches. It was delicious and half gone on my first taste. Probably would have had their Peanuts & Crackerjack porter if we didn't have more to do later that day. Next time. The food menu has a good deal of choices and one thing, a Cuban Sandwich, caught my eye. Odd as it may seem, I've never tried one. There's was mightily delicious, I've been missing out! I also took a piece of my son's monster pretzel..also damned good. As a baseball card guy our choice of seats also was spot on. We sat right next to Honus's T206..and his ever watchful eyes. We were delighted with our food, service, pricing and ambiance at this spot. We decided to share the Cuban, each get a side salad and Nik had the Mitten Hefeweizen. Our first hint of the serving sizes was when the side salads came out and that looked like enough of a meal for lunch for me. Took a little holiday weekend trip to the west side of the state for a brewery tour. The Mitten Brewing was within walking distance of our AirBNB and very glad that it was. Their cheesy bread was amazing and their beers were equally as good. My fiancé absolutely loved their Peanuts & Crackerjacks beer. I ended up drinking some IPA that I liked enough to leave with a 6pk of. Loved the patio and the history of the building they're in. great vegan pizza and other options. okay beer. ever since i saw the mitten's extensive list of vegan options it's been a must try. most of the menu items can be made vegan (even the meat lovers pizza ). The chicken pesto pizza was yummy and the faux chicken had really good flavor. the crust was good too. i'm not a fan of thin crust. i like some doughyness and this had that. we also got the pickle play appetizer and that was super yummy. pickles and cheese bread? genius. i could tell the vegan ranch was made with almond milk which lead it to be too sweet but i was fine without it. my partner got the cuban and he loved it-just needed some extra sauce. the sandwich came with chips and chips are chips so they were okay. the beer selection was extensive but only 1 really caught my eye where as right before we were at vivant and they had so many beers i wanted to try i had to get a flight. over all good food. ambiance inside was super depressing though and outside was cute but i wasn't vibing with it so i'd probably do carry out if i ever want pizza again. read more
