We have had Claire and Sheila several times and they have been wonderful. Food was great too!

I ate here a few years ago and had a much better experience. Unfortunately, this place seems to have fallen on hard times. The menu this time was very basic. It was a Sunday evening around 5:00 pm. There were only ten or so customers in the restaurant beside our group and we were told the pork and chicken entrees were "all sold out." Almost every single menu item had an up charge. For example, if you wanted your $16 burger with cheese, it was an extra $1 up charge. Bacon? That's $3. Avacado? Also $3. Or if you wanted to upgrade to fries instead of potato chips as a side, that's a $2 up charge. If you want a protein option for almost any of the main entrees, that was an extra $5-$7 up charge. I had a the burger special of the week; the Patty Melt. The burgers were very dry and overcooked, the rye bread toast was dry, and there was hardly any thousand island dressing. One of the kids in our group got the kids mac and cheese and I swear someone whipped up a box of Kraft in the kitchen and served it with some potato chips. For a $9 kids meal I expect better. And to make matters worse, there was something going on with the sewage system there when we visited. Our table was near the restrooms and you could smell an overwhelming odor of feces coming from the bathroom every time someone opened the door. The rest of the place seemed clean so hopefully that's an outlier issue. The waitstaff was polite and professional however service was quite slow. Growing up in Byron Center, Alebird is such a welcome to the community. I've loved seeing their menu evolve since they opened. The last few times I've visited have been my favorite yet! The turkey focaccia and chicken sandwich were unreal. They have so many great sauce options to dip your fries, cheese curds or even sandwiches in. read more

It was our first time here and our server Ceci was so attentive and helped us pick out the perfect dinner options. They had an extensive beer/wine/tap list to choose from. We ended up going with the Chicken Couscous, the Caesar Salad, and the Smoke Show sandwich. The sandwich had a tender pulled pork with a really good smoky bbq sauce. The Couscous had great flavor with the tzatziki, and the chicken was really juicy! This was a great spot to meet and watch Monday Night Football. Stopped in for dinner and enjoyed our meal. We were sat right away and the place was about half full around 5pm on a Wednesday. The atmosphere is pretty cool being inside a historic hotel with an outdoor patio. Our server immediately told us she was new and to give her some slack, fair enough. She was very friendly but we never got any drink refills the entire meal. We started with the Feta Dip, which we really enjoyed. It seemed fresh and the pita chips were great with the roasted large tomatoes and spread. I went with the chicken caesar wrap with fries. My wife went with the BBQ Tex Mex bowl with half greens and half grains. It's pretty cool how you can customize any of these dishes to be salads, grains, half and half, or wraps. We both really enjoyed our food and the leftovers were just as good the following day. Overall, we had a good dinner and would definitely come back. The atmosphere here is rustic, occupying an old hotel and Chicken restaurant. It feels warm and welcoming. I had heard they have really good burgers so I ordered the Cheese Head Burger ($17). This is a MI CRAFT BEEF DOUBLE SMASH BURGER, BACON, CHEESE CURDS AND BEER CHEESE. This was good, definitely above average. However it was also disappointing. This may be because I prefer a thick juicy burger over a smash burger. The quality of the meat was very good and the cheese tasted good. However everything together was just a little underwhelming. I also got fries with it ($2). Sadly these too were underwhelming. There was nothing technically wrong with them, I was just disappointed. I kinda wished I'd just stuck with the chips. The person I was with ordered the Buffalo Nickel Burger ($19). This is a BUFFALO BURGER WITH GRILLED MUSHROOM AND ONIONS, SWISS CHEESE AND HOUSE THOUSAND ISLAND ON PRETZEL BUN. It was stated to be excellent. The service was excellent. Super friendly staff. Overall if I'd been alone the rating probably would have been a 3 star review. However because the person I was with loved hers and I really liked the service I decided on a 4 star review. Would I return? Maybe. Good food, kind server. Chef got our orders wrong the first time (even though waitress ticket was correct), but was corrected! Ambience is nice, I'm glad it's not really loud, as some bar food is. Only thing is for nonsmash burgers, like the bison, the server should ask how done you want it, as I prefer medium over well-done. Excellent fried and Mac n' Cheese. Chill place and a great day to hang out on the patio. They are very dog friendly and you can order the "PupBurger" designed by the chef! Our dog loved it! Our server Ceci was amazing, attentive, super-upbeat, and made for an easy going afternoon. She was super busy, but still made time for us, loved our dog, and was so attentive... without hovering like some waitstaff can do. We will definitely go back! Simple little restaurant in Byron Center that was family friendly. Staff was quick and friendly for our table of 5. We ordered my toddler's food immediately so it would come out quickly, but they burnt the grilled cheese so the server was so thoughtful and brought him out a plate of fries while we waited for his food to be remade. This is close to a family member's home, so I'm sure we will be back. read more

Everyone in town knows about this place and the quality of food, and great drinks. Went for my birthday dinner, haven't been out in awhile trying to save some money so I knew where we were going to take the opportunity to visit in our limited nights out. Never regret going here! Food was excellent per usual, I actually don't know if I've had the nachos here and I think I've always assumed I did (and if you read my reviews that's what I'm all about) but love experiencing so many other things on the menu I May have not realized it but got the nachos this time. We gave Alebird a visit this weekend. We hadn't been in quite some time, and loved our visits before, so it was definitely time to go back! We were a little bummed we didn't see any of Alebird's own beers on their tap list- I'm assuming they're just in between batches, but I would've rather had one of their own brews! I ended up ordering a cold brew martini instead. It was VERY sweet, but I liked the cold brew flavor! Derek had one of their guest beers. For food, Derek had nachos, and I had the bayou alfredo with chicken added. It was all pretty good! The chicken on derek's nachos was definitely little more dry than what was on my pasta, but not unbearably so. Our server was very sweet, and the atmosphere is always fun! Such a pretty old building, and I love the spiral staircase. Overall, it wasn't our best visit, but we still trust in Alebird! We'll be back and give it another go. read more

Great burger, comfortable and cool building. Service is good most days, and never too packed outside of Dinner rush.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on Saturday. When we walked in, it was maybe 1/4 full. Our waitress was very nice, which is the only reason for the 2nd star. It did start to get busy after we ordered, but it took 45 minutes to get our food. Two tables of 4, that were seated after we ordered left shortly after we got our food. I don't mind waiting for good food, but unfortunately we were not impressed. I ordered the Buffalo Nickle burger, which is cooked "mid rare". Unfortunately, it came out very overcooked, and my fries were cold. My wife ordered the Chicken couscous, which tasted good, but the chicken was also overcooked and dry. Overall, it was very disappointing, and we won't be back. read more

Food looks and tastes like bad leftovers heated in the microwave. Rice was gross and looked like it was scooped from a refrigerator bin. Prices were much higher than better restaurants. Turkey focaccia - turkey was the kind in the grocery store that is prepackaged and dense, not like the sliced deli meat. Focaccia was store bought and uncooked/grilled and fell apart. Too much raw onion. Pretzel was not fresh - okay but a $15 reheat item. Service was fine. This place is close to our new home, had high hopes to be a regular, but this place has awful food and awful high prices. read more

Stopped in on a week night for dinner with a group of friends. We were sat at a high top in the back corner. Our waitress was great, very speedy! Ordered a mango mojito but reserved peach. It was pretty good but not worth $9. Two of use ordered the burger of the day with pineapple, Swiss and bacon. It had good flavor but the burger itself was dry. I did really enjoy the pretzel bun. If you wanna pay an outrageous amount of money for just normal food, go ahead and check out Alebird. My friend and I went on a Thursday afternoon. One server, she was friendly. My bill was $32 for one margarita & mac & cheese. To add chicken to the mac & cheese was $4 (heaven forbid you want some protein). Menu has minimal options, and they're all $14+. My girlfriend and I found Alebird recently and we love it! It's a fun and friendly farmhouse atmosphere with cool architecture. Their beer is just as delicious as their food or cocktails. They have a full bar as well. We love love love their bison burgers and Cuban's. We tried their sweet potato wedges today and they were to die for!! Our waitresses have been phenomenal as well. This was my first time to Alebird and I had a great experience. Our waitress was wonderful.. very personable, perceptive, and attentive, we loved her! We tried two of the beers and really enjoyed both of them. They have clever names for most of them as well. I tried a cocktail that was a whiskey sour with a cinnamon twist to it and really enjoyed it! For an appetizer we tried the goat cheese with the toasted points and it was DELICIOUS, I will never be able to come back without ordering that as an app. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was pretty tasty too. We had our rehearsal dinner dinner in the upstairs at Alebird for about 30 people. The place was very clean and fit our group extremely well. It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. They have a mix of seating options, from a couch and cushy chairs for relaxing conversations. Tables of various sizes for eating and a bar to stand or sit up to while enjoying your beverage. We ordered appetizers, for the group which consisted of bruschetta, chips and salsa, and pretzel bites with cheese. Gia was our server and she did an exceptional job. Great place to come and eat. I didn't know what to expect but I was expecting less than what I got. I review out of 10. With 1 being awful and 10 being best restaurant out there. So my review is as followed. Beer 7.9- good selection and good home brewed beer, but not to many domestic beers. Cheese curds 8.7- great top notch cheese curds. They are what you would expect when you want a good curd. The reason the did not make it into the 9s is because (a) lack of marinara dipping sauce and (b) they were kind of stuck together. Burger 7.2- I got the Midwesterner. This was a very good burger but nothing to write home about. It could have used a bit more sauce, more onions and a bit thicker/ crispier bacon. Service 9.1 - great and friendly service. It was a bit slow at first but once things simmered down it was great. Then when it can to food quickness, I was impressed. Ordered at not even two sips of beer later my food was out. Inside seating 9.2 - just a great atmosphere here. Reminded me of a old wooden cabin. Outdoor seating 9.4 - I didn't eat outside because of rain but outdoor seating is what will make me comeback to a restaurant and they did not disappoint. A very good outdoor seating area. Price 9.1 - I was going to go a bit lower on this one but the quality of food was great and you get what you pay for. Overall 8.6 out of 10 - I go back in a heartbeat. read more

A friend and I stopped by here this summer after doing some clothes shopping at Tanger Outlets. I love the beautifully decorated old building, which featured an open dining floor and an upstairs area. I had a salad and my friend had the spicy chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. My salad had tons of beautiful veggies and was massive! Definitely filling for a salad, but hit the spot. Service was fast and friendly. I have wanted to go back, but discovered they didn't open til 4pm when trying to plan a lunch meeting. No big deal, but nice to have another place I can take visitors when we shop. Great food, great beer, excellent service! My daughter and I both ordered the Beaches will love this for our beer, it was a fabulous Shandy! I'm not sure which IPA my husband ordered however he liked it, our server suggested it as the most popular IPA. To eat I ordered the Steakhouse Dip which was amazing! Make sure to order the fries with it! My husband had a burger and really enjoyed it. If you like hot/spicy get the The Thunderbird, my daughter ordered that and thoroughly enjoyed it! Terrible experience. Called ahead and made a reservation for a hockey team to eat between games. They said there wouldn't be an issue accommodating the group. When we got there, they had a single server trying to take care of the entire team. After waiting two and a half hours my daughter still never got her food. Never again... read more
