I was skeptical about this place because of some online reviews, but I'm willing to try something once. Just once! I have to say after getting my hair cut by Jeff I'm sold. You can't go anywhere in or and Portland and get this kind of hair cut for less than $40, and if they touch your beard up add another $10-$20 on top of that. Then there's tip, because you have to tip. After my experience I will be coming back again. Jeff did a great job cutting my hair. He's an amazing person, and we had a wonderful exchange. Don't listen to the naysayers! Anyone can a bad experience anywhere, and I'd bet that wouldn't be the case for you, if you chose to come do business here. Came in after a few month really like this vibe being Italian I get a silent good laugh on the atmosphere being somewhat of a mobster feel to it lol. The price is great $20.00 for fade and hair wash that's normally $30.00 and 10.00 for the wash all done here for $20.00 that's a great deal. I walked in with a cap on and a straggly beard and walked out looking dapper. I had my hair cut/trimmed and washed plus a dab of some hair sculpting stuff. The beard was trimmed up with great precision. Staff was friendly and listened to what I wanted to achieve. Thanks for a great cut. read more

I came to this shop not knowing exactly what to expect. I get my usual tapers and skin fades from my Barber in San Diego, California whom I am very satisfied with. I came to this shop with my younger cousin on my short stay in Oregon. To my surprise, the Barber Shop was right in the middle of Old Town (Yet Upscale) Gresham. Along with the great location, the shop itself had an awesome American - Italian "mob-ish" feel to it yet countered by very friendly stylists/barber. I'm very specific on my cuts as mentioned above, and I noticed as soon as I got in the shop that a gentleman just walked out with the exact same cut as I had. Not to mention.... Same shoes. BIG PLUS! These folks know what they're doing. From Barber - style tapers and fades to coloring, perms, trims etc. They have it all! I would definitely recommend anyone to this place whether you're as far up as Vancouver to the Southern Outskirts of Portland. Definitely worth the trek. Mob Shop! read more

I have to admit it is a little painful doing this since I went here to get my hair cut for several years but I have to inform people what the owner Jeff is really like....first of all he is a pathological liar, he will tell wild crazy stories that are not true, he has told me five different stories about where he studied hair and who he trained under. Secondly, he has NO sanitary standards what so ever, I have literally seen him use the same comb and clippers on multiple people without once cleaning them! And lastly, what really pushed me over the edge, I scheduled a appt. with him on June 12th to have my fiancés hair colored on June 25th for our upcoming wedding in July, his reply back in a text message was "Sure, no problem I will absolutely put it down for the 25th." When I confirmed with him on the 25th the appt. he played dumb and said "I thought it was the 24th I waited all day for her." Really!?!? If that was the case why didn't you call or text me??? Then he said "I can schedule it for next week." NO, my fiancé was excited to go in and get her hair colored for the time we scheduled, she even got off work early to go! This is just typical Jeff, always looking for a way out! Actions like this is probably why he had to sell half his business!! Honestly, I won't ever come back here again or recommend anybody to come here! Unless you want to listen to wild, crazy, untrue stories or have him cancel your appt. and play dumb the day of your appt. DO NOT COME HERE!! Please also see that since writing this review Jeff has had several people post reviews, ALL of which are Under "Filtered Reviews" READ Yelps policy on this, here is quote from Yelps site about filtered reviews "while most business owners focus on providing great service and let their business speak for itself, a very small percentage apparently would prefer to take a less than honest approach. Just read the review from Scott and he sounds like he has some other issues that go way beyond his review of this place. I've been going for years as well and look forward to my time spent there. All the stylists, including Jeff, make you feel comfortable and the stories are always entertaining whether they are true or not. They are stories after all and isn't that one of the fun things about going to get your hair cut? The place is always clean and has some sort of enhancement to the décor every time I come back. They even offer maintenance cleanups around the ears and neck in between cuts. Let's keep some perspective here everyone - you are getting a haircut at a great place with great personnel for a great value. I walked into the Mob Shop about a month or two ago, and after almost no wait Gioff the owner cut my hair. My wife liked it and she is picky. My son goes there and likes it. Raylene just cut my hair and did a good job. It may be best to make an appointment, although on certain days walk ins may be possible. One of the owners is travelling, so that is making them extra busy. When the owner is there, they have 4 people there cutting hair, but can still be fairly busy on certain days making an appointment a good idea. I was interested to hear they offer free touch ups between hair cuts on a walk in basis, I think. read more

I went in for a basic pixie cut-I should have read the reviews before hand-although since it was mostly men leaving reviews you would think a very short pixie would be a piece of cake. The woman who was suppose to cut my hair got a look of panic on her face when I told her the type of cut I wanted. Mind you-my hair is ALREADY short so it wasn't like it was a drastic change. She said "I don't feel comfortable cutting short hair". WHAT?! So she asked David if he could cut it before his next appointment. I had high hopes-which were dashed. He cut it very fast and very bad. It was left way too long for the pixie I wanted-I could have been okay with that-but it was so uneven in the back that when I got home my husband noticed right away. If you are a guy looking for a barber then maybe go here-if you are a female and want something cute, sassy, and even I would keep looking. read more

Hey if you don't like the Mob Shop then that's okay - but you most likely will. Jeff's great. I know I'm going to butcher her name but Raylene's great too. David is always slammed but you can tell his customers are dedicated. Everyone who works there is good people. It's all good conversation. I usually get my hair cut by Jeff (Gioffredo). I'd be lying if I said I didn't set some major time aside to get a haircut there, but that's because this haircut is an experience. If you don't care about your barber, or care about your barber, then maybe it's not for you. There's really nothing wrong with that. I get a cheap haircut. Jeff does such a good job for such a low price it's a easy decision to tip this guy, and I'm infamous for not tipping when my wife isn't around. I'm probably on my sixth or seventh haircut. I look forward to them, both because of the quality and because it's nice to see the people there. It's really not an atmosphere where you mind your own business and wait for an opening - they're too friendly for that, and they're people-people. I highly recommend staying the hell out of this place if you don't like the experience, that's one less slot you're taking up when I call to make a last minute appointment - I usually call ahead. They schedule very well and each of them takes their time. Most barbers it's a numbers game, and that's sad, because that can turn out really poorly. That's not to say the haircut isn't good - it's great. They know how to make a guy like me who doesn't dump tons into appearance look a lot better. My style was no style, now I get regular compliments. My wife very much appreciates that. I don't think I got my wife pregnant because of the new style Jeff gave me, but we're due in a very convincing window. In all seriousness though, I wouldn't change a thing about this shop. Maybe add another Jeff - but his brother seems to really enjoy being in the military and I'd hate to take a good man from the service out of selfishness. I can't say much about these other reviews. People have bad experiences. If I wrote about each of mine they'd all be positive though. I only jumped on here to look up the number to schedule an appointment but was frustrated there weren't more reviews. As far as storytelling goes Jeff's brother is in the military. So was I. One time I came in and I sat down next to his brother, which coincidentally looks exactly like him, and I honestly was confused until Jeff came out of the back. Us military guys have lots of stories. And we're pretty good at creating them. That's why I don't mix my own drinks these days. People tend to get offended and I tend to get carried away. He's the best barber I've ever had and pretty much every customer that walks in the Mob Shop walks in with a smile and walks out better than they walked in. That says something about the service. I have been going to Mob Shop since 2013. Raylene is my stylist. She is super sweet, gets the job done and she always makes sure I leave the shop feeling good and satisfied. If you want honest feedback on what you want for hair options, she is your gal. Every time I get my hair colored, I always am stopped and asked "who does your hair, I love it".
