The MOB Shop is awesome! When visiting Ojai, I knew I wanted to ride bike around town and I picked The MOB Shop to rent bikes after some research. I called beforehand to make sure I don't need reservation but for two people, they said walk-in was fine even on a 3-day weekend. I loved how friendly everyone is here! It seemed like all the guys were aware of what was going on and gave us tips, especially since I was that weird girl who was about to ride a bike wearing a maxi dress. They adjusted the bikes to our height, gave my husband attachable pouch (saying that baskets are overrated) to hold everything and even provided bike locks which was easy to use. The shop, as well as all the bikes were in great condition and very sturdy which is a major plus. I would return to The MOB Shop for sure on my next visit. read more

These guys are the best! They sell and rent great bikes...specifically, electric bikes, which are wonderful. You don't HAVE to use the electricity, they're just like normal bikes but they have a little battery you can turn on to help you get up a hill or, in my case, help pull your fat dog who's riding in a cart behind you (that they provided). My wife and I had a blast riding our bikes, with our dog, all over town. Whenever we got tired, we just turned on the power and glided right along. Can't recommend them enough. The guys at Project-Ride gave us tons of advice about where to bike (and where to eat) in Ojai. Two big thumbs up. And you can rent normal bikes as well, if that's your thing. Side note: Having visited Ojai from Los Angeles a bunch of times over the past few years...it took us a while to discover Meiner's Oaks. It's worth the short trip from "downtown" Ojai. Some great, great restaurants like Papa Lennon's and Farmer & the Cook. read more

Every time we enter the shop they greet us like old friends and treat us with care and kindness. Chris, Tim and Kelly are great guys! Their recommendations of interesting bike routes, gear and service had been flawless. Their enthusiasm for good customer service is the same for a young kid that needs a flat tire repaired and/or the sale of a top of the line electric bike. It is very impressive! They don't rent out bikes these days!!!!! Covid and all. Absolutely ridiculous since we rented bikes down at Oxnard and in Santa Monica not too long ago. We visited the MOB shop to rent bikes for our weekend trip in Ojai. It was a last minute task on our to-do list. We had no problems getting rentals on the spot, their prices are very reasonable, and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and nice. They were kind enough to allow us to drop the bikes off at closing and come back the next day to resume our 24-hour rental. I couldn't believe how professional and high tech this shop was when I desperately needed help for a flat. stranded 12 miles from my car! I was so shook up and had my husband who has Alzheimer's with me on a bike ride. Chris was so kind and made a space in his busy schedule to fix the flat. an electric bike and it was the back tire. we're seniors and he just went out of his way to help, made me cry how kind he was. he made sure the tires were safe for our ride back down to Ventura. We had a really fun mountain biking tour with Kelly. Really nice bikes and gear and Kelly was friendly and super cool. I can't say enough great things about this bike shop! Location was perfect and the staff are very friendly and helpful in pointing out different places to ride. We rented ebikes for the day to take the Ojai Valley trail down to Ventura and back. Great trail and the bikes worked perfectly! The gentleman helped us out with helmets, a lock, and a bag to help secure our stuff throughout the day. After the long ride we dropped the bikes off to charge and the gentleman even offered to let us use the bikes again the morning. We will be back to try out the mountain bikes next time. I liked this place the 1st time I went in. A guy named "Tim" seemed nice and appeared to know about bikes. Great. Good for him. The subsequent times I had to use this establishment, I got nothing but passive-aggressive attitude for no reason at all. One of the co-owners, believe "Kelly", decided, "Hey, I don't like this guy for whatever superfluous reason" and/or cr@p he was going through that day and just gave me the stink eye the rest of the interaction. Out of the 2, he was short with his answers and just angry in general. Guys, this is no way to treat PAYING customers. Others might rave about your business, but my experience left a lot to be desired. No one is there to be looked down at by bike snobs. Good lord, you're selling/servicing BICYCLES...yes, bicycles...not finding the cure for cancer. I don't care if some of the poor man's crotch rockets you keep in stock cost $20K. You're in the SERVICE industry, so bring the stank attitude down a notch. Oh, also, I was told the problem with my bike was something that COULD NOT have taken place. Explained this but to no avail. This "Kelly" character put both legs in 1 pant leg and doubled down, repeating his nonsense. I took it in stride, paid my bill and left, even thanking this crusty dude. In the end, couldn't wait to get my bike and the hell outta there. The Mob Shop in Ojai, CA: never again. There are other/better options in Ojai if you need to have your bike serviced. So I rented a bicycle in Ventura today and made the 15-mile ride to Ojai. Halfway there, the seat ratcheted backward and I had to pedal 7 miles standing up (though I did get some assistance from the electric motor). When I arrived in Ojai, I spotted The Mob Shop, and went inside. Chris whipped out his Allen wrench set and fixed me up, offered to store the bike while we had lunch and told me he'd tell me how much it all cost when I returned. When I returned - no charge. These guys and gals are great! I was visiting Ojai from northern California and needed a local shop to rely upon to support me on my ride schedule around the valley. Greg and Kelly were both so personable and helpful to me from the moment I walked in I couldn't tell if they were other customers or employees. I was blown away to later learn they were the actual owners. They gave me detailed directions to several rides in and around the area - Kelly even offered to take me along on a ride with him and his son. I had several issues with the bike I brought to Ojai and their service was 100% competent, quick and affordable. Greg even offered me a complimentary espresso while I was waiting for my bike. I called about two months in advance to see if there were any guided bike tours in Ojai after a conference I was attending was over. Kelly responded very quickly and gave me all the details of a tour. He asked me all the good questions, what is my ability, what do I want to do, what kind of bike do I have and other questions. I highly recommend this shop for any level of tours, whether a corporate group, organized group activity or an individual. went to ojai last november for a romantic getaway with my boyfriend. we had our 2 foster kittens with us as well & decided to rent some bikes for the day. at the mob shop, we were thrilled that we could rent 2 cool bikes, along with an enclosed pet carrier... so we decided to bring the kittens along for our 20+ mile bike ride. this was a first for us, as well as for the guys at the mob shop apparently! kittens in a pet carrier on a bike?! whaaat?! haha we defied the odds and everything worked out purrrrfectly!! we biked almost 24 miles on the ojai to ventura trail... it was an amazing bike ride; the kitties survived (one loved it, the other meowed incessantly); the weather was great; a little girl tried to climb into the carrier with the kittens LOL; and we got the kittens, the bikes, and the carrier all home in one piece. all in all - it was a GREAT day! so... bottom-line: the MOB SHOP ROCKS!! they have amazing bikes for sale/to rent and the staff are friendly, helpful, and informative. it was a pleasure renting bikes from them :) if you visit ojai, you really need to stop in here.. can't wait to come back again soon!!! read more

I went in here on a lark trying to find something to buy for my husband and there was so much to choose from and at such ridiculously reasonable prices. One of the co-owners who helped me was so nice and knowledgeable-not pushy or arrogant at all. I was able to find a perfect gift within minutes (which was good because I was on a time crunch) and find MORE things that I will buy for myself next time I come into the store. read more

Unfortunately we had the worst experience with that shop! Not only the man that helped us was really not friendly (we had the feeling that we bothered him) but the gears were under poorly maintenance. The saddle on my bike was drooping under my weight (and I'm only 126 pounds!)and the trolley where my 2 year old daughter was seated was all wet -- we had to ask the guy to wipe the seat that was wet and dirty because obviously they took it from outside where it had poured the day before but they did it so quickly that her pants were soaked after 5 minutes riding. We wanted to ride 2 hours but because of my bike and the trolley we went back an hour later and explained the problems to the guy who didn't say any word, just took back our helmets and didn't even say he was sorry. We paid $88 for 4 bikes and a trolley!!! At this price you expect at least good gear. There are so many other places to rent bikes in Ojai, you shouldn't spend time and money in that one! read more

I moved to Ojai a month ago. I don't really write reviews but that is definitely changing now since my experience in Ojai has so far been GREAT! So anyway, for the past year or so I've been injured and I've mostly been sitting on the couch eating cake, brownies, meats from around the world, assorted cheeses, more cake... you get the picture - I'm outta shape. One of my goals when we moved was to start mountain biking again (my wife is getting jealous of my breast size). My bike has been sitting for a year so I needed to get the shock SAG adjusted. I yelped "bike shop" and The MOB shop popped up. I read some reviews and they were great except for one from Sum Yung G who singled out the owner, Kelly. He really ripped into him. So I thought as long as I don't deal with Kelly when I go - I'll be fine. So I go to the shop and I'm surprised right away. It's a really great looking bike shop with top-notch bikes. I was expecting a more touristy rental-type shop. (although they do that too. Tours, rentals, the works) I walk over to the two mechanics who are working on bikes and ask if they can help me adjust my SAG on my shock and sure enough, who pops their head up from across the way like a friggen meerkat and chimes in...Kelly! Yup, "angry" Kelly from the review, says, "yeah, I can help you with that. Bring your bike in." Turns out angry Kelly is not angry at all. In fact he seems like one of those dudes that never get angry. He adjusted my shock himself right there on the spot. He welcomed me to Ojai and we started talking. He was super nice, down to earth, super experienced, and seemed like an overall good dude. We talked bikes (I even test drove an amazing Santa Cruz High Tower) kids, schools, Ojai in general, then he showed me a great intermediate trail to start working off the flabby fudge gut I've acquired. I don't know what Sum Yung G is talking about - I couldn't have had more of an opposite experience. I'm thinking Sum Yung G just might be an a**h***. I don't mean that in a bad way. Some people are just a**h****. They can't help it. I had a great experience at The MOB shop and they definitely have a new customer. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this shop from the quality of their service the Integrity of Kelly the manager and the awesome deals that they have on e-bikes particularly e-bikes that have been demo used. In fact I bought one bike from them that I sold to a girl in San Francisco and they continue to answer the phone when she calls because that particular bike has a few glitches here and there. The Kalkhoff Intregale 11 that I bought, however continues to be the highest quality e-bike I have ever owned or tried and I have tried Stromer I now own an elf and also I own an M1 Spitzen now.. the latter is much higher performance but cannot touch the overall quality of the Kalkhoff. I continue to send anybody I know looking for an e-bike in California... Even Northern California urge to call the mob shop read more

We had a great time on our tour, led by the owner Kelly. It was just the right level of difficulty, so we were able to completely enjoy ourselves. After a long period of time away from mountain biking, the trip reinvigorated me to restart this sport. Kelly help me figure out the most appropriate bike based on my skill and the best size, to fit my budget. He chose not to sell me a more expensive bike, as he didn't feel it was the correct size for me. We had our puppy with us, and they gave us recommendations for dog sitting. They spent extra time, making sure the bike fit me perfectly, and was adjusted to my weight. I checked out their prices, after I purchased, and found them to be very reasonable. In addition, the rest of the staff, was more than helpful and took extra time to make sure I got the shoes and clips that would work best for me and explained the bike in more detail. They are a fun and polite group of guys. In short, we plan a trip back in the near future, to enjoy another tour with Kelly and get more pointers. read more

I came up from LA for the weekend to celebrate my birthday riding bikes in Ojai. Tim and the crew were very accommodating! My group was scattered and we had several changes along the way due to rain forecast. The weather ended up being great, but The Mob Shop went with the flow of our constantly changing plans. They even came and picked up my friend after her tire blew (on her own bike- not a rented one). They gave her a tune-up and helped her out of what could have been a disaster of her being stranded in a city she wasn't familiar with. They were nice enough to give me a special birthday rate, and not penalize the rest of us by the extra time my friend's bike repair took. When I returned Tim knew all my friend's names as though we were town locals. I love the positive energy and great vibe of The Mob Shop. I will definitely be back! :) read more
