I'm sure the bike tours through Potter are great too, but we wanted to go off on our own, and we had a great time. Take the trail towards Ventura or explore local Ojai neighborhoods and vineyards. Phenomenal staff! Always willing to help or answer any questions even if it's not in the shop and run into one of them in town. Host great events for the local community all the time as well. Tim is extremely knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to in general. AJ did some great work on a bike for us recently and updated us throughout the entire process, even came in person to our business a few times because we don't always have a chance to pick up calls coming in. Went on the Sulphur Mountain bike ride with my company. It is definitely something I would do again with a group of friends. Most of the ride is downhill which helps for people like me that aren't very athletic. There are a few hills to get over though. You will definitely feel the burn in your thighs after those hills but it was all worth it, especially when your appetite builds up and you can go grub at the local pizza or burger joints! read more

Great equipment and friendly service. We customize our rental to get a shuttle up to the top of Sulphur Mountain, and a pick up in Ventura. Tim at MOB shop was very helpful and friendly. The 6 of us got in some very fun downhill mountain biking, then a nice ride down the Ojai/Ventura bike trail to the beach. I would definitely do this again. read more

Not your typical douche-y bike place! These guys here are the real deal and super nice!!! We came in mid-afternoon on Valentine's Day and, despite not having a reservation, they dug around and cobbled together two bike rentals for us. We got a generous two hours of smooth sailing and beautiful bike riding on the Ventura bike path thanks to their guidance and equipment. I've checked out literally every bike shop in the county and this shop is hands down the best shop in the area. Their customer service goes above and beyond every time you are there. And their friendly inviting atmosphere in the shop is great. I will not go anywhere else. I even stopped by mid ride to grab some energy powder and they made sure I had enough water and that my bike was running alright and if I needed anything else. My husband had been searching all over Los Angeles for a very high end bike and just coming up with nothing. No bike store in Los Angeles was able to accomodate him. So on a whim he called the Mob Shop to see if they might have what he was looking for. What a fantastic day we had coming up to Ojai and being treated literally THE BEST customer service I've had in any establishment in a very long time. And they weren't just nice to us ( buying a fancy bike ) they were nice to the lady with 7 kids who needed a couple flats fixed and the people who were just looking, the locals who wanted to use the bathroom,... you get my drift. They rent bikes and know all the places to ride. So do your self a favor and visit this bike shop, they know their stuff and they will treat you like a king or queen. read more

Rented electric bikes this weekend. We had a blast flying through the orange grooves. The staff was really helpful setting us up and explaining how the bike worked. One of the bikes had a very minor problem with the power going up hills. The staff was extremely apologetic and even refunded our hour. Awesome customer service. I love my new bike and Yepp child seat. Everyone we worked with was super friendly and helpful. Their selection is fantastic. What stood out to me the most is that when my husband called to order the bike that we had checked out in the store a few days before, our salesperson discounted the bike from the original price we were willing to pay in order to match an online sale price that the bike manufacturer had just posted. We would have paid retail just to support a local business and my bother with shipping. I was really impressed with the MOB Shop's integrity in giving us a better price. read more

We came here on our trip to Ojai in 2012 and had the best experience. Tim (not sure if he still works there?) set us up with two hardtails and recommended we go to the river preserve to ride--perfect for one beginning rider and one intermediate. We loved riding through the orange groves, wow. If you have never tasted a warm orange straight off the tree, then take this trail and let it be your first time. The trail was a steady but gradual climb and is for the athletically inclined only due to small boulders, etc. A major warning to all you out-of-staters: Stay off the sides of the trails because in CA there are tons of prickly things that puncture tires!!! Well, we didn't consider this as we were just giddy with the desert scenery and trying to ride the banks of the trail, so ended up with a flat tire 30-minutes into our ride. As we were totally unprepared, without a patch kit or pump, our only option was to call the store from our cellie to see what they recommended. Well, they responded immediately and sent out staff BY BIKE who got to us in 15 minutes, if not sooner. He patched our tire and we were on our way again!! I couldn't believe it. They didn't even acknowledge the inconvenience of the situation for them either - instead the guy that saved our arses said he was actually happy to have an excuse to get out of the office for an hour or so. I couldn't believe the great service and hope to get back there soon. Truly a great experience that I am still thinking about. Those are good people there at the mob shop - you will be in good hands renting from them. read more

I then got instructions for a nice route, but what really gets the 5 stars: they closed at 5, but so I could bike later, one of the guys without me asking volunteered his cell phone, so he could pick up the bike post closing. read more

Found them on our hotel website. Could not be more friendly, flexible, or accommodating! My wife and I had an awesome guided tour of Ojai including private farm nestled in mountain which would be otherwise inaccessible. Local knowledge and incredible value especially compared to bigger companies like Backroads which use guides less familiar with area. They were a great judge of our cycling abilities to fit us with appropriate bikes and choose the perfect route. Overall great experience; like going for a ride with local friends. Super cool and friend staff! I did the Ojai Double Metric yesterday. My shifter broke, they had it torn apart in minutes, showed me exactly what was broken and clearly explained that it was a goner. But they offered me a rental and within a few minutes they had my stuff transferred to the rental and I was off. As a business owner I am sensitive about customer service and look for it everywhere, these guys have it! If you are in Ojai, stop in and check them out. read more

Friendly, helpful, well-equipped shop. We had a great time recently with two of their electric bikes on the Ojai-Ventura bike trail. It's very easy to access the trail from their location. Good idea to use the motor sparingly on the way down so you have plenty of juice for little uphill boosts on the way back. Our experience was that the motors work for only 20-25 miles. read more

While visiting my sister, I decided to sample the beautiful countryside around Ojai and needed a rental road bike. Went into The MOB Shop and they set me up with an awesome Scott CR1 road bike. Repair kit, multi tool, and even a rear LED light were all part of the package. Bike was tuned, and it shifted and rode well. This particular bike had the SRAM kit and I really got to appreciate the DoubleTap shifting. I kept the bike for three days, and liked it so much went back today and rented another Scott CR1. This bike can climb! These guys are friendly, professional and seem to know their stuff. In the shop, which is on the small side (but soon will be moving into new digs soon apparently) they have a good selection of Scott, MASI and other road bikes for sale. They also have a selection of rentals, as well as some commuters and hybrids. Didn't stay too long at the shop since the weather was great and the road was calling. If you get to Ojai, stop in, say 'HI' and enjoy the ride. read more

They are extremely knowledgeable about bikes, are over the top accommodating and really go out of their way to be helpful. They have great ideas for bikes, trails and have great tours for those who need an out of town solution. I have never seen such a selection of bike rentals, which means you can "do it all" in Ojai and even bring the bike home with you if you want. These guys have most of what you can't find in stores in northern cal (maybe southern too) . This is really the place to go if you want to "tool around town" or if you want to get out in the backcountry with a bike. Great tours, great bikes, great people. You don't find it very often, so make a point of checking this place out, even if you aren't looking for a bike. Be inspired. read more
