My girlfriend brought me with her because another person was unable to go. I was skeptical thinking it was be some sort of bright salon with lots of small talk going on. I was totally wrong! You wouldn't guess such a modern and cool place would be hidden in this unsuspecting office park. As soon as you walk in you are smacked with a calming vibe. Dim lighting, black walls, very contemporary furniture and decor. The staff is super nice and didn't mind we were running a 2 minutes late for our appointment. Think of this place as a massage spa for your head to shoulders with the greatest hair washing you've ever experience. We went for 75 minutes and I was in the clouds relaxing the whole time. It's definitely pricey but I'm willing to bet you e never been to a place like this. They do blowouts for ladies after if you're going out someplace too. It's not close to our house but it was so good that'll we'll make the trip every so often to do it again! read more

I have been here twice and had 2 different serviced done. I got the heavenly halo which a 45 min treatment and a platinum halo today which was a 75 min treatment. Both were great but i definitely preferred the Platinum Halo as it was so relaxing and just overall full service for the perfect spa day! They have a membership which I feel is priced reasonably for the service provided. Note: if you are wanting to book a platinum halo treatment you will want to make sure u just book for you and maybe one other person. I tried to book the platinum for 3 of us for a girls day on multiple occasions but they said they were not able to do a platinum on all 3 at the same time and only have the capacity for 2 people. Book the heavenly for group events and the platinum for 1 or for a couples day out. I booked the platinum for my boyfriend and i and he loved it. read more

Like most people, I went to try the head spa experience because it's all over social media. This place didn't quite meet my expectations, but I guess that's why they say don't always trust what you see on the internet. Located out past Katy, in a new shopping center, don't get confused when you get there, looks abandoned but drive in , they are located in the back. Inside is nice but small, like a studio apartment in NYC. If you want a quiet spa experience, this is not it. We got the Signature experience, and while on the bed, you can hear the receptionist and guest in the front talking, the blow dry area is next to you so you hear the blow dryers going and they are jamming music, don't expect meditation music to be playing. We got a 5 minute dry massage, 15 minute hair wash (just washing no massage involved) and the rest of our 40 mins was the blow dry. Although everyone was sweet and my hair came out nice and clean, it basically was an almost $100 blowout. Could have gotten the same experience at a blow bar. Perhaps the more expensive options had more of spa feel, with better massage experience but I won't make that long drive back to find out. read more

It was our first time trying this place, and my friend and I booked for their heavenly signature service, and it will be our last time trying this place as well. Service and hospitality etiquette from the staff was underwhelming and nothing like a premium spa as they advertised on their website and socials. The lack of training is on management and they need to do better about providing a luxury experience for charging so much $$$ for services that are not matching the price point. Our experience is as follows: When we arrived the front desk staff greeted us but one of them was eating a bowl of fruits. There were multiple glasses of coffee drinks sitting in the waiting area without being cleaned up. Another staff commented on the one eating so much fruit and coffee that she would lose weight in no time. We finally got our paper work and they had spelt my name wrong and I asked if that can be changed and the response was a cold "yeah, after you finish signing we will fix it." Then one of the head spa staff introduced herself to my friend and took her into the hair washing area but did not say anything to me. Then came back to get me and introduced me to staff that will be taking care of my hair. Their intros to their names were very hurried and just told us to take our tops off and put in a bin they provide with and put on a wrap cloth on. After a few minutes they came back and laid us down and just proceeded to wash hair without explaining anything about the procedure. I saw my friend was provided an eye mask but I wasn't. However, I was asked about what scent I would like to use and she wasn't. The water was really hot and they did not ask if the temperature was okay. Each action just came one after another with ZERO announcement on what they're about to do. I felt like my scalp was barely washed and just a brush haphazardly rubbed all over. And the shoulder, neck and hand massage was barely there. And once my person was done, she put my hair in a towel and went off without saying that she needed to head into another appointment. read more

Sara did an incredible job accommodating my needs and requests relating to massage pressure, water temperature, and even little things like how much small talk I wanted to engage in. I was also so impressed by how professional and kind every single member of the staff was! This last visit I got a wash and blowout and LOVED IT! I left with the shiniest and healthiest feeling hair. I was so excited to try the up-and-coming Head Spas in Houston. I heard so many great things about The Modern Halo that I was willing to drive 50 minutes to try it. When we first arrived we were greeted with friendly smiles, no issues here. My therapist was Liberty. We got the Heavenly package, since there was no Platinum available. [Of note: I agree 100% with the review listed below (Stephanie) that your experience is ultimately dependent on your therapist] When Liberty first greeted me she was friendly. She gave me the robe and instructed me how to put it on and guided me where my sessions was going to be. I laid down and she began massaging me, but never asked what pressure I liked. (My SIL was with me and her therapist was communicative and asking her what pressure she would like and if the temperature of the water was ok) I then asked her if she could massage me with firm pressure and she said ok but then proceeded with the same pressure. Scalp/Wash: The next step was her brushing my scalp and then washing my hair. I have a pretty dry scalp so I didn't mind the brushing. My SIL said that her therapist brushed her a bit hard, but again I didn't mind on my scalp. It would be nice if she had asked if I didn't mind how hard she was brushing. I also heard her whisper during the session that I had a lot of dandruff which was highly inappropriate, like I didn't hear her. The next step was washing my scalp. So, of note I'm pretty tender headed and I think everyone who washes hair should be mindful of the type of hair the person has and the texture. She was so rough with my hair where I said ow numerous times and she said sorry but then kept being rough. Drying/Brushing: Drying was probably the gentlest step with the towel. Then we proceeded to dry/brush out our hair. My SIL therapist brushed out her hair where mine handed me my brush to brush out my hair... She didn't even make an attempt to brush my hair and she just left. As we were leaving the hostess asked me how our service was in front of our therapists. I said mine was ok, she goes just ok? I said yeah. She goes you can tell me, we want to know the truth so we can improve our service. I just began to say it was ok. I called back to get my therapist's name and then the hostess did apologize for asking me in front of the therapist and also refunded me my service since I was unhappy with my service. Will we be returning? No. We will not be returning for the far drive and less than mediocre service. read more

All you self care seekers/lovers!! Put this on your to do list! I initially found out about this spot on a Houston Hotspots IG post (and if you mention that name to them when booking an appointment, you get a discount off your services!) I'm a teacher and so to offset the stresses of my world, I tend to treat myself to self care luxuries. So thanks to this neat post, I was able to treat myself to a Heavenly Halo head spa on my first day of winter break. My person's name was Hannah and she was super sweet. She thoughtfully assisted me into getting ready for my head spa and then would constantly talk me through what was happening. I would say consider this a very high end hair wash day. You get taken to this dark, neon lit ambience room where you lay on a high tech bed with a rainbow shower promptly waiting to baptise your head. In the head spa package I chose, I got a neck massage which was true to its name--H E A V E N L Y. Hannah also did a wonderful job scrubbing the buildup off my head in our session. I didn't add on a blowout in the end, so Hannah just towel dried my hair, brushed it, and sent me on my sweet way. I honestly just came for the experience and to entice my friends to try it with me when they visit Houston again. But let me tell you, I walked out reborn from my chest up. So i came here twice, my first time with Hana, second with Iris. I strongly believe you leave with an impression depending on who you have. First thing i would like to mention is that the staff was friendly, overall inviting, the facility is clean and well decorated. As a pregnant woman in her first trimester, i have been dealing with nausea and pain and so having this treatment was a treat for me. First experience: amazing, this is why i came back. Recommended some friends to this place from this experience because it was a good one. Hana did an amazing job. Her technique was exquisite as she provided a good amount of pressure and perfect temperature in water. She made me feel extremely comfortable where i fell asleep and still dreamt how nice it felt. My hair was soft, light and voluminous after her treatment. I overall gave this a 4.5/5 experience. Second experience: Iris showed very little care to detail. I told her i really enjoy strong massages but did not accommodate to my needs. She asked if i would like the temperature of the water to be hot or warm, i asked her not too warm. When she started using the water it was very hot, to a point where i can feel the steam from the temperature of the water. I politely requested for cooler water. When she tried again, the same thing happened. Steam. My scalp felt like it was burning. So i moved away and asked again. Iris basically did this another 2 times and finally after moving a bit and being a little more stern, she made the water very cold. I honestly preferred this over the steaming water so i did not say anything. I'm not sure if she was upset from me asking, but she sprayed water into my ears several times. Squirming when it happened.... I told her to please not get water in my ears because i did not feel comfortable with it. This again happened 3 more times to a point where i could not hear her in one ear so i took my body towel and dried it myself several times. I asked her multiple times for her to avoid my ears and my friend was right beside me hearing all of this, and she didn't respond yet continuingly got water in my ears. I guess since my first experience i never had to deal with this, so i was in shock. While she was spraying me with the hose, the water got into my eyes even with the eye mask on. At the end of the treatment, she was aggressively putting the towel on my head noticeably seeing how soaked my whole head, neck and face was. That truly upset me, but i didnt say anything. She even said, wow the towel is really wet, and the towel fell off and left it. So aside from the hot steaming water, water in my ears and eyes, and terrible massage techniques, i would only come back if i had my friends person or Hana. $125 for the service and tipping 20% still because they need to make a living but i wanted to allow everyone to understand that the person you have definitely determines a good experience from a bad one. I really hope that iris can fix this. My friend heard everything since being in the same room and let the front desk person know and she apologized for my experience, which i do really appreciate. If i were to take time on a day that i feel well, i will do so with someone who does it with care. Hope this review helps yall. P.s. hair is dry as hell read more

This is an absolute gem while in Katy! The place has a moody vibe and smells so good like a spa. Once they took me back to change into a smock, they explain the service, asked if I'm having any hair or scalp issues or muscle tension. The rest was so relaxing... the way the halo tingles like an ASAMR video. You just can't help but smile. So glad I upgraded my service to the long one (75 mins) The Platmiun didn't disappoint. So glad I added the blowout after. My hair has never been cleaner or have volume. I'll be a member for life ... I signed up for the membership! read more

First off, the idea/concept of this establishment is genius. I would give the owners 5 stars if it wasn't for my experience. I've always done self care in the sense of massages or getting my hair done but I've always wished the masseuse would massage my head/hair longer or the wash would last longer at the hair salon so when I found the modern halo I was ecstatic. So excited that I booked the platinum package along with an add on of a blow out. Keep in mind, this is a a $180 service. Now I wish I would have just booked the standard. The head massage I received was below average. I kept thinking it would get better but it didn't so I asked for more pressure. On a scale of 1-5 the pressure being 1, it increased to 1.5. I would have loved it to be a 4. I was trying to figure out why I was still being lightly touched after asking for more pressure but then it made sense, my stylist had long nails which probably gets in the way of how much pressure could be applied. I'm someone who loves my nails done as well but maybe someone working here should only have bare hands if they are providing massages. Nails shouldn't get in the way of service. It gets worse. The platinum package includes a hot stone shoulder/arm massage and this should only be preformed by a certified masseuse because what I received was a soft body rub and masseuse are trained on how to use hot stones, you should placed them in the palm of someone's hand first, mines we'd just bring placed straight on to a random place of my arm and every time they touched me she would ask if they were hot, and they were every time. It just felt like a joke, I was not relaxed at all. Afterwards, I just wanted to leave but I had somewhere to be the following day so I decided to proceed with the blow out. I'm not going to say anything negative about the blow out because the stylist took her time and didn't rush finishing my hair even though she was the last one there waiting to close up. So this review is focused on the actually concept not being executed. All I wanted was a long good head rub that would take me into the most relaxing state. I did not receive and I do not think this place is worth the price if this is the type of hair massages they are trained to do. read more

Three of my girlfriends meet once a quarter over massages and a meal and decided to try out the Modern Halo. It was the worst experience I have had in a very long time. We booked for the Platinum Halo and I chose to get a blowout. The staff member servicing me was cold and condescending. During the hair wash, I mentioned my scalp gets dry and typically only do one hair cleanse. She responded dismissively and a bit irritated that I even suggested something outside of their typical process. The worst of the experience was the blowout. She kept burning me with the hairdryer. The back of my head feels sore from the heat burns and my hair is in worse condition than it was when I got there (overdryed and hay like texture). I have grey hair so I'm scared it will be turning yellow from the excessive hair drying she was doing. I even told the stylist before she washed my hair that I wanted my hair blown out "just like it is right now" and I left with it looking far worse. As a small business owner myself in the service industry, I would not expect this business to survive and, for the sake of other paying customers and their hard earned dollars, I hope this place does not. Edited after Devon's response: I do blowouts once a week Devon and burns on the neck and forehead is not a hair type issue. Regarding the scalp treatment, I asked prior to the treatment if an adjustment could be made and you said no and I said okay I'll pay $45 more for a blowout, if you have an appointment, for which I was prepared to wait if you could not fit me in immediately. Secondly, your staff member failed to communicate during the treatments and during the blowout. Customers should know what you are putting in their hair. I didnt' feel I could say anything because your staff member was so unfriendly and not open to talking about how I like my blowout. She asked me one question about volume and I said, I just want the hair tipped in at the ends. And her curt response was "That's not volume, that's curl. Do you want volume?" Just so rude and mean in her tone. Anyhow, no I won't return. Even more so that your response didn't even resonate as an apology for the burns and treatment I endured from your staff member. read more

This was sadly a huge waste of money and time. the staff is friendly, but this is not their calling. The scalp massage/scrub was minimal, incomplete and without real effort or service. Not once was I asked about the pressure or the water temperature, both which were sorely lacking. I didn't do a blow out and yet my hair wasn't even properly brushed out at the end. I am still wondering exactly what I paid for. I hope they improve the process as well as the quality of the service as I felt neither relaxed or like I had gotten anything more than a subpar hair wash. read more

I had booked 3 reservations for me, my sister, and my mom. When I booked over the phone I was never asked what kind of service we wanted. I was only asked if I wanted a blow out. When we arrived we thought we'd get to choose what we wanted but instead were told we were down for 3 Signatures. We had wanted the Heavenly. Luckily the receptionist there was able to help but could only get 2 Heavenly and 1 Signature. While at the services it was great, but the booking process was not good and didn't meet expectations. read more
