Also because this house is over 100 years old it isn't very accessible. Doorways are narrow and the stairs are steep. With all that being said Margaret "Molly" Brown's house was beautiful. Her story is even better. If you don't know who she was outside of being a Titanic survivor then you're missing out on a lot of history. This museum deserves a spot on your itinerary.

Located across from the Brown Palace Hotel, this museum is a little bit of a hidden gem, in that the historic building blends into its' nearby hotel. Parking is a bit tricky, in that it's only offered via meter or nearby garage. Be prepared for a bit of a walk or pay a few bucks. The museum itself is larger than it appears, in that it offers 4 floors of artwork, sculptures, statues, historic home space filled with artwork and western history dating from the 1800's - 1940. VERY cool! Each floor is an "exhibit", adding to the overall story of the west and how the west seen through the eyes of many artists and their interpretation. Walls are divided into little sections filled with both small and large sized art. With my "telephone" in tow, I made my way through the museum in reverse - starting on the 4th floor. The telephone-like object provided a thorough breakdown of the artwork, and provided context for the different artists, the year and their historic significance! Each room off the elevator featured a historic look into history, with traditional rooms featuring some notable art pieces - which was a cool way to see this converted house to museum come to life. Staff are very friendly, welcoming and provide guided tours throughout the week, offer their two cents on the varied pieces and even protect the artwork. Multiple security guards were on each floor, reminding guests not to take photos, videos or get too close! I very much enjoyed my solo experience and would highly recommend a visit - as it's worth it! *** MAJOR PERK: I'll shout from the rooftops that the library is the best kept secret for all things cool and FREE tickets to the museum (along with many others!) through the local library. It's several floors and they have stairs and an elevator. A lot of the painting are just mind blowing especially on floor 2. They are from the 1800's. They offer a phone type device that will tell you about what you are looking at. Really great for context. There is no photography and there are guards to make sure nothing is defaced. Check the hours of the museum, they are not open every day. The nice lady at the front desk was delightful.

The best part is that it has FREE Admission!! I parked out in the lot just off E. Alameda Pkwy near the front of the Aurora Municipal Center. I was kind of stumped as to where to enter the museum. I walked past the cool sculpture called "Light Of Dawn" by Rafe Ropek. If you keep walking on that sidewalk, you will find the entrance is at the far end of the building right near the gate/fence. I really wanted to see the 1913 Street Car Trolley! It is in a room all by itself. It has been immaculately restored! I like the vintage ads inside! There's lots of information about transportation, too! You can learn how Aurora started out and grew! There was a Buckingham Square Mall that opened in 1971. It had two Palace Guard mascots named Buck and Ham. It was demolished in 2007. It was rebuilt into what is now Gardens On Havana shopping center. I was fascinated to learn that there in a Mission Viejo neighborhood in Aurora. It was modeled after the Mission Viejo in Orange County, CA! In the exhibit of "Growing Home Aurora", there's an extensive collection of memorabilia! I found out that Niagara Bottling, LLC has a plant in Aurora! I wandered through the "Mosaic of Cultures: Aurora's Mexican Community" area. For history's sake, I should have eaten at La Cueva. It is featured in this area. The founders of the restaurant immigrated to the U.S. in the 1950's. There's an exhibit called "Tatanka: The Spirit of the Land" that has lots of beautiful Bison paintings by Arturo Garcia. On my way out, I picked up A Guide to Aurora, too! It lists landmarks and historic sites with pictures. It was great to learn about Aurora!

They have such a diverse knowledge about the history of Aurora and some of Colorado so feel free to ask questions. I learned a lot about Aurora. It gets such a bad rep and is most well known for tragedies. I never knew there was such history about this city. The hit of the museum and a must see is the trolley. I wish Denver had kept the trolley running so it made it special like in San Francisco. What a wonderful piece of Colorado history at the museum. You can also walk and sit in the trolley as well. The staff working were incredibly knowledgeable and the history of the museum and it was a joy to listen to them and read more at the different exhibits. When my friend and I went, we were the only two there. I truly feel like this is a hidden gem to go and learn more about history. My friend has lived in Denver her entire life and she learned a lot!

I was visiting Denver and really glad I made this my last stop on my trip. Located in a historical home turned museum. Created by Paul Stewart who had a passion for collecting artifacts, photos & researching at libraries about the people that lived in this area. Such as Five Points a thriving Black community. Topics include, Black cowboys, that were vital to the area, Buffalo Soliders, Dr. Justina Ford and several other medical professionals that provided community health to those in need because they were unable to seek care at white establishments. The day I visited, I was greeted by Daphne, with a beautiful smile, and she gave some insight about the museum. She offered hand outs as well. Cost is $15 dollars entrance. And that's a steal to learn more about American history, not just Black history. It's a small place, but packs a lot of knowledge & history in a small space. You can really take your time and ask questions after if you like. Max it will take a 45 minutes to an hour to enjoy the museum, I did it in 30 minutes. You can go online to specify a time of your visit. I wasn't able to pay online, but Daphne ensures they are working on that. There's even book nook for purchases if so inclined.

We had an extremely helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and funny guide who walked us through a few of the exhibits and then left us alone to look around, watch the videos, listen to audio and read the numerous displays. After hiking my first two 14ers this fall, I have even more of an interest in and appreciation for the incredible outdoor adventures our state has to offer, and this museum gives a great glimpse into them all, as well as some outside our fair state. The large 3D model of Everest was super cool and the info about each 14er was helpful. To read that a family with four children, one as young as 8, summited them all in just a few months really made my jaw drop! Dang. You can learn all about the unique aspects of our climate, types of geology, hypothermia, altitude sickness, the 10th Mountain Division, ice climbing, female outdoor pioneers and more. There is a portaledge set up to check out and a bunch of other displays of real live equipment and artifacts. I think my favorite things I read were all of the quotes sprinkled throughout that talked about the inspiration people take from these outdoor pursuits, and the indescribable feeling one gets from a summit, any summit. Colorado is a very special place and this museum definitely left me feeling so lucky to live here, and maybe a little more willing to take on some risk and adventure. The museum is a little-known gem in Colorado and deserves greater exposure. The museum is a joint project of the American Alpine Club and the Colorado Mountain Club, and also features photographs and material provided by the National Geographic Society. Its mission is "to inspire in our visitors a greater appreciation for the mountains and for mountaineering, in all of its facets, including the cultural and inspirational qualities of the mountains and the sport; to help in the cause to preserve the mountains and the history of mountaineering; to educate our visitors and in so doing enhance their enjoyment and safety in the mountains." The museum is quite beautiful and is a good venue for a quarter-day or half-day in Golden, which itself is a very interesting place to visit with many other local museums and places of interest. The museum has an interesting collection of permanent displays and artifacts, including some of the most well-known artifacts in the history of mountaineering, as well as temporary exhibits and videos. It has a gigantic 3D model of Mt. Everest that shows the various routes to the top. There's also a display of Tenth Mountain Division equipment. There are numerous full-size mannequins with original equipment from - among other things - the first American expedition to summit Mt. Everest, some of the most famous Colorado mountaineers of the early 1900s. It's really interesting to see how technology and techniques have progressed in mountaineering. The museum does contain displays and hands-on exhibits that are of interest to younger kids, including a cool "crevasse" that they can jump over, and a hanging ledge shelter that they can hole up in. There's also a gift shop called the "Base Camp." Visitors should check the website at mountaineeringmuseum.org to make sure of the current hours and to learn about the latest exhibits.

This was my daughter's idea. We met at her apartment, and walked to the Center. We were greeted by a very nice lady, paid the admission, and walked around. The current exhibition is about the history of corsets. NGL, made me want to start wearing mine again. OMG, such tiny, tiny waists! And fun stories. One corset was worn by a woman who would paddle her children with the baleen from her corset!! That made us laugh. The Center is a Victorian house. We did the self-guided, because it was close to closing time. We didn't get to see upstairs, alas. I think that's only on the guided tour. This is a time capsule, the story of the cook and house manger, Carrie Erickson. The range is MAGNIFICENT. There are two ice boxes (you can open the smaller one). I cannot imagine cooking on that range. Wow. There's a pantry and a butler's pantry. There are silver tea and coffee services, heavy and chased. I really, really wanted to polish them, lol. Beautiful crystal. The ceilings are high, the walls paneled with wood or covered in wallpaper. The parlor furniture looks uncomfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! The historical notes were useful, showcasing different women of the era. The gift shop has many, many books, and a small selection of fun stuff. We like supporting museums, so I got a pin and a water bottle, and my daughter bought a tote bag with pictures of "badly behaved women" who made history. Vive la femme!

I booked tickets online to the historical tour and after a lunch at nearby Leven, we made our way to a gorgeous house on the corner of 13th and Bannock. We were the only women on the historical tour, which made for a more intimate and in-depth tour with our guide - who was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and wowed us with stories of the family, and women who lived, learned and created a community within Denver. Both mom and I enjoyed the 1-hour tour, cutesy gift shop and the volunteers who spend their days educating the masses. I'd highly recommend this tour for women of all ages because it's a fun slice of women's history in the heart of downtown Denver!! PRO TIP: Check out your local county library perks/pass program. A ton of local museums offer FREE passes to explore and learn! Mom and I have been on a mission to take advantage of every FREE museum opportunity so seriously, check it out cause WOW!!

The visitor center is clean, well-maintained, and is a nice break from the heat. The gift shop has a nice selection of souvenirs and clean restrooms. We didn't but the views looked very cool! There are places to hike around here as well and you definitely should! We saw wild turkeys and saw the rocks from a different view! Just beautiful! The good part is that it's just a one room exhibit and free to the public! The Trading Post is more of a gift shop, so the Colorado Music Hall of Fame is just a thing on the side.
