This is an unusual review because I DIDN'T hire Abe! Instead he looked at the listing of a very…read morerough property that I wanted to have inspected, and gave me valuable advice based on the listing's photos. He could have taken the money and made a lot of money from ancillary services, but he instead showed me how buying this top to bottom demo and renovation was not going to pencil out from an investment point of view. He was right, and he saved me both a lot of money and two years' worth of headaches. So thank you Abe for your time, expertise, and frank opinion, all without a fee. They say advice is cheap, but in this case it was invaluable!

But…read moreafter one phone call to Abe, I was pretty set and confident on Abe's Home Inspection Services. Over the phone, he was able to answer all of my queries and gave me a quick run-down of all the different services they provide and an accurate quote for an inspection on the house. He was also able to answer all of my "what-if" questions and ease my nerves by giving me a step-by-step on what to expect. Although my window for inspection was only 7 days, he was also able to squeeze me in for an inspection and got me my report within 3 days! I'm super grateful for that. On the day of the inspection, Abe and Nick let me join in on the process and even encouraged me to take my own notes. Every step of the way was a learning process for me and I gained a ton of new knowledge on structural info, safety, energy saving tips and more on the house. Abe gave me a packet and some goodie bags. The retractable tape measure with sticky notes and pen is really cool. He also put in some candy if you're feeling peckish, some hand sanitizer, flashlight and bandaids--all super useful stuff. Folder includes info packets, and even a final walk through checklist. He'd really thought of everything. Overall, I highly recommend Abe. His inspection gave me valuable insight on the house, and most importantly I gained a peace of mind. It's definitely worth the price!

Home Advantage Inspections missed a potential fire hazard in the home we purchased…read more We called HAI prior to purchasing our home in Mount Kisco, NY. The results of the inspection produced a few results that we were able to negotiate with the seller. However, HAI saw no issues with the house's boiler chimney. After the purchase of the house, our heating company advised us that the condition of our boiler chimney posed a potential fire hazard. The report HAI provided said there was no issues with the boiler chimney. After the purchase of the home, we had at least three chimney companies inspect the condition of the boiler chimney. Upon a mere visual inspection, all noticed that the boiler chimney could potentially cause a fire in the home. Upon further inspection, they noticed that the chimney would need to be completely replaced in order to make the home safe. They all strongly -- and separately -- suggested that the condition be remedied as soon as possible. The condition of the boiler chimney and the surrounding area was an open and obvious fire hazard that should have been identified in the inspection report provided by HAI. $3,000 later, we were able to remedy the condition without incident. However, had HAI notified us of the condition prior to the purchase of the home, this is something we could have potentially negotiated. We are lucky that we had the boiler company inspect the space, or else the condition of the home may have been much worse. There were other conditions in the home that were missed upon inspection -- but the fact that a safety hazard such as this was missed is extremely disconcerting.

He was through in his inspection including crawling under the expansion area that was very tight. If there was anything he couldn't do himself such as a level 2 chimney inspection. He's extremely knowledgable and equally thorough throughout the process. He takes the time to go over every aspect of the report with buyers and will break down any defects he comes across - from what they mean in the immediate future to what they could potentially lead to 5, 10 years down the road. He sends a detailed report (usually within 24 hours) including photos and notes of everything found and discussed, and is available to answer any follow-up questions. My father recently passed away and my brother wanted to have an inspection done on his house to see what we were getting into. I couldn't have recommended Mike fast enough. We had a 9am inspection scheduled, and when my brother arrived at about 8:30am, Mike was already there working on the exterior part of the inspection. He took the time in each unit (2-family home + in-law suite in basement) to make sure we had all the information needed for updates/repairs to decide help decide if we wanted to immediately sell "as-is" or fix it up to rent to new tenants. TLDR; I've always been happy to recommend Mike to clients, and now I am able to say that I have utilized his services myself and still 12/10 recommend.
