I would like to begin my review by sharing that this is the second time we have hired Abe Kurek as our home inspector. I left a glowing review during 2023. You can look it up under my name, Mary Savva. Although we decided against buying the home in 2023, we decided we would absolutely and unwaveringly use Abe as our inspector the next time. Fast forward 3 years later, we recently used Abe in June 2026. We had the pleasure of meeting his son Nick during our 2nd inspection. I really can't say enough about Abe. I find it difficult to top my 2023 review because it was so good. During our second experience with Abe, we had a different realtor. All I have to say is Abe is on your side. The jingle, "Nationwide is on your side" should be Abe's theme song except it would be, "Abe is on your side." I hate to sound cheesy, but when you are a first-time homebuyer, it's hard to relax and trust the process. Abe makes it easier to do that simply because he is loyal to you and only you. It's a huge relief to have someone with so much experience under their belt in your corner. It's also a relief to know you can have the same confidence in his son Nick. When you hire Abe, the relationship doesn't end with the home inspection. He fully prepares you to become a homeowner. He provides lists of referrals and lots of other useful information on his website such as what to look for during the final walk through. He assures you that you can reach out to him at any time- pre and post purchase. You feel like you are more than just a customer, you are now part of a family. Of course, the candy filled goody bag made especially for you helps a lot too during the inspection! Abe and Nick check every nook and cranny (crawlspaces, roofs, attics) They arrived on time and spent over 3 hours combing through the property. Abe uses his drone to check the roof. He even has a "back-up drone" just in case his high-tech drone fails for whatever reason. He is fully prepared for your inspection. He is able to explain complex issues clearly in layman's terms, or in our case, "first time home buyers" terms. He patiently answered our questions. His home inspection report is concise and easy to understand. This cannot be overstated. It includes a "Table of Contents" which makes everything easy to find. The report does not lack detail. It is well organized with very clear pictures. This helped us to negotiate repairs and buy in confidence. One of my best friends is currently house hunting. Her husband is a surgeon. She is worried that he might not be able to attend the home inspection. I immediately referred her to Abe and assured her that she would be in good hands. As a first time homebuyer, I didn't know what to expect nor how to compare inspection services. But after one phone call to Abe, I was pretty set and confident on Abe's Home Inspection Services. Over the phone, he was able to answer all of my queries and gave me a quick run-down of all the different services they provide and an accurate quote for an inspection on the house. He was also able to answer all of my "what-if" questions and ease my nerves by giving me a step-by-step on what to expect. Although my window for inspection was only 7 days, he was also able to squeeze me in for an inspection and got me my report within 3 days! I'm super grateful for that. I have worked with Abe numerous times and you can tell from my reviews that not only was the service outstanding, but Abe doesn't just complete your inspection then disappear--quite the opposite: He checked in periodically to make sure issues he flagged were taken care of appropriately and he's responsive to our questions months and years after service. My husband and I are purchasing our first home together and our agent recommended Abe saying that he is the BEST. In the end, she was absolutely RIGHT! Abe and his son Nick arrived early to the house and began working before our scheduled time. They left nothing unchecked (visually) and was amazingly thorough. From roof to main level crawl space, if they can get in to check, they did. Both were also very knowledgeable about all house related things. Hump on flooring (which we didn't even notice until he mentioned it), to some non- insulated windows, asbestos on tiles with suggestions on how to remediate, leak in a bathroom, age of boiler and forced air, so on. Everything that had issues were documented in our inspection report, color coded by severity and included suggestion for remediation or what to do to preserve something to last longer. On top of it, Abe was also kind enough to tag/label our boilers and heater to help us identify what to turn off or on if needed in the future. Last but not least, Abe is so dedicated to his job that he went into the crawl space on the ground floor and was in there for a good 10 minutes taking pictures and noting anything of importance. He found mold which we will def let the seller know! If we purchase another home in the future, without a doubt, we will use them again! Why settle for less when you can have the best! "The best money you'll ever spend is an inspection on a house you don't buy." - Abe Kurek We are first time home buyers in Sullivan County, and hired Abe based on the spectacular reviews he'd gotten and because being from outside of Sullivan, we felt he'd be a good, independent voice. I'm happy to say he helped us immeasurably. We had found a home we were crazy about and hoping the inspection would show us standard wear and tear. Abe and his son quickly and thoroughly inspected the house and showed us things we hadn't even noticed on our walk through. I'll also note, that we started excited and as he found issues, we got noticeably nervous. He actually paused his inspection to talk us down and helped us understand what it was we were looking at. Grades of severity, things that were normal to see, and to see the overall picture. The quote above is the most important thing he said to us. His findings helped us negotiate with the seller and through those negotiations... we've decided to move on to other places. We appreciate his thoroughness since we are first time home buyers. He welcomed us to call him if we ever have any type of question regarding our home. He has been very responsive. I will just go ahead and update this review to remove a star. He contacted me over a dm on yelp pretty much accusing me of being a liar. I was really hoping he would apologize and promise to be better for the future but he was just flat out rude. I think someone should teach Abe about overall tact and manners instead of being a mean bitter person. If he had actually tried to do better and maybe apologize I would have added an extra star instead I will just go ahead and remove one. I wish I could remove two to give him zero but that is not an option. 2 months ago Hired Abe to inspect my new house. Normally would give Abe a single star except the report he provided was very good which is why I am graciously adding a single star. Anyway the reason for the low rating is due to a few issues I have with him. Firstly he came to the inspection with a folder trying to hawk up / sell some gimmick insurance for American Home Shield total waste of money. Secondly he drove up in his truck with a bunch of political stickers for Blue Lives Matter. It's fine to have these beliefs but you need to not put them on a business vehicle. Beware! The representatives providing quotes are persistent and rude. The first person called me 4 times in 2 minutes and when I answered and told him to stop calling he started texting. He refused to stop. I asked him to stop texting and I would not be using their company he continued. Another representative reached ( I didn't know they were from the same company at the time) and he rattled off all of the quote information and then assumed I was making a deposit and started asking for my bank info. I told him I was not ready to make a deposit and wanted to see the quote so I can compare with other quotes. He started yelling at me to calm down and mansplain. He got more upset and finally I had to hang up. Their persistence is concerning and makes me question the legitimacy of the company. I will be also adding the review to BBB. read more

I should note that for this inspection, his son joined him on the inspection and I should say that both were a delight to work with. His son is just as detailed and patient as Abe. Both were very thorough, knowledgeable and punctual. They went through every part of the house in a very systematic and organized way. They never rushed us at any point and before they left every room, they always paused and asked.. "do you have any questions?" Abe never pushed any sort of service however strongly suggested certain things if needed. For example, he strongly suggested us getting a mold test as he thought there was mold in a certain part of the house. We agreed and tests came back positive. Given the information, we were able to get this remediated with the sellers which could've been a headache had we found it down the line. My realtor also was throwing questions at him and was equally impressed with his knowledge. I will suggest that if you use Abe, bring pen, paper and a water bottle, eat a full breakfast, drink your coffee b/c both guys are going to be throwing a lot of information at you and WOW, the more you can retain, the more $$ you'll save esp if you are a first time home owner. They will give you suggestions on what you should do, what is acceptable and what to look out for so that you don't get ripped off. Both Abe and his son equip you for home ownership and I'm still counting the dollars that he's saved us! Reports were sent out a few days after the inspection and Abe appropriately manages expectations. Overall, I feel secure and confident with the information that was provided to me and I would recommend Abe to anyone that is looking for inspector. I should also note that he doesn't work directly with realtors or at least he didn't with mine so I felt like I was getting a truly independent assessment of my home. read more

I'm not a contractor, but I have a reasonable amount of experience as a homeowner and real estate investor. So I can't say I fully understand how the sausage is made, it's very clear that Abe is several steps above his peers. I've had two inspections with him, and a few things stand out: 1. Attention to detail. It's clear Abe thoroughly inspects a property, not only focusing on the important things (roof, plumbing, safety issues) but also the minor things a home buyer might overlook (door handles, window screens, etc.). 2. Communication. Abe is very descriptive and communicative of his scope of work, how he operates, what you'll receive, and continually asks you, the buyer, questions that might matter to you as part of the inspection process. 3. Work ethic. Abe's pride in his work is pretty apparent, and has stayed/worked much later then originally planned to ensure the job was completed without cutting corners. After hearing and reading countless horror stories from folks who've hired home inspectors, I was absolutely dreading this process. I am SO thankful I found reviews about Home Inspection Services - I can't speak highly enough about my experience. Abe was extremely helpful right from the first phone call. He walked me through what the inspection would be like, and was extremely happy to answer any questions I had. I knew right away that the inspection itself would go well. On the day of the inspection, Abe was 100% professional, thorough, and again, eager to answer any questions I had. In addition to a full, extremely detailed inspection report, he also gives you a tote bag filled with things that will help you maintain your home - a checklist of what to keep an eye on in the house, a list of service repair/maintenance/etc companies to reach out to if you need any recommendations, and other great home information packets I wouldn't think to ask for in a million years, but was so happy to have.
