He arrived early to begin work on the exterior of the home and then spent an additional two hours inside. He is very thorough and technical but also explains things in a simple manner. His demeanor with us and the homeowners was lovely. His report was delivered digitally with a summary and accompanying pictures. He updated his report with more detail in areas that were not able to be completed after the first round once he returned to the home for a follow up. His report was produced over the weekend in less than 48 hours. He was able to meet our timing request with less than 3 days notice. He took extra time after the inspection to sit with us (in the snow!) to walk through his initial findings as well as discussing on the phone our concerns and remedies. My wife and I are first time homebuyers. Going through this entire process has been extremely stressful. When we finally had our accepted offer, the first step was to order the home inspection. Steve is a real gem! Prior to the inspection Steve was very informative on what the inspection would reveal and the process involved to complete the assessment. When we met him at the house, he introduced himself and then began to explain the steps he was taking to evaluate the different areas throughout the house. He then methodically and thoroughly went through every phase of the inspection answering any questions we had and was friendly and pleasant throughout. He was on the roof, in small crawl spaces, in the attic, examining the foundation, chimney, electrical, plumbing etc. The inspection took approximately three hours. We received a detailed report, including pictures, color coded description of his findings along with comments and recommendations. My husband and I have been city dwellers for 20 years. As first time home owners we were especially nervous about the inspection. As a first time homebuyer the process can be very overwhelming. The home inspection is basically the first step towards entering a contract with the seller. Steve made the inspection process a breeze and was very informative on what he was looking for, what should be mitigated, and what was aesthetic and/or critical. Went through the entire house , square ft by square ft. Told us what problems were present, gave us solutions and tips. He explained anything and everything he told us very thoroughly. As first time home buyers my wife and I didn't know what to expect. I spoke with Steve on the phone and he was willing to come and inspect the house the next day. Steve gave my home a very thorough inspection. Steve is an engineer as well an an inspector and has an extensive knowledge base. He identified a significant area of concern during my inspection that the seller was obligated to remediate before the closing. Steve provided a very detailed inspection report with photos which I later provided to my contractor for his use in addressing repairs to be made.
