I love this place. It's adorable and cozy, always smells delicious. The food is wonderful, though of limited selection. I don't mind, and come here frequently for a smoothie or fresh juice. This place is great! Introduced to this restaurant by a friend at lunch. When I walked in, I immediately enjoyed the atmosphere. Cool, unique tables. Felt very welcoming and warm. It was tiny, but still nice. The food was great! I ordered the grilled cheese and I was not disappointed. Tasted very fresh. It was a mix of a couple of different cheeses on a multigrain bread. The cheese was great, but definitely not overwhelming. I also loved the small side salad that came with the sandwich. I could tell the dressing was homemade and was delicious. It was just the right amount of sweet. The plate also came out with fresh fruit. Always a plus for a fresh, healthy meal. The best thing I did order was the peanut butter smoothie. It was very filling so I couldn't finish it. But I would be happy to go back just to try the different smoothies. read more

This place had some of the freshest food I have had since visiting Elkhart. The staff was attentive and the prices seemed appropriate for the quality of ingredients. The owner seemed very knowledgable about the sourcing of the ingredients in their dishes as well as their nutritional benefits. I was excited to see a really healthy eatery, however it doesn't live up to my expectations. I went twice, the first time I just walked out and the second I tried a smoothie and a salad. It was not flavorful at all. I had hoped the best for this place and it seems to be doing ok but I feel it could use a flavor touch. It's hard to make healthy taste right. This restaurant is a destination for me and for when I have family and friends visiting from out of town. Following a diagnosis of breast cancer and knowing that whatever I ate needed to be gluten-free, sugar-free, free of hormones, organic, anti-inflammatory and within my dietary sensitivities, I thought I would never be able to eat at a restaurant again. Jenny, the owner, and her waitstaff take my concerns seriously and have always treated me and my onerous diet with care and respect. Jenny strives to provide all organic food and the salads, soups, entrees and smoothies are fresh, tasty and healthy. Their Keto coffees are also yummy! While I avoid eating much fructose, I tasted a sample of the smoothie my Mother ordered at The Moringa Tree; it was delicious. I like that Jenny uses non-disposable plates, flatware, napkins, cups and glasses inside her restaurant and never offered plastic straws or ice with their water (long before it was "cool" to turn down a straw and drink water from a glass like everyone does at home). On the subject of water, even the water she serves in her restaurant is filtered. I know of only one other restaurant that goes to such great lengths to assure everything their customers eat or drink is as safe and healthy as possible, and that other place is in Key West! Elkhart is a bit closer to my home in South Bend and The Moringa Tree's indoor and outdoor seating, clean restrooms, and clean and cheery interior beats the place in Key West, hands down. read more

Fresh, healthy food and innovative cafe. I went to Moringa for the first time and was impressed. I didn't think I was in Elkhart anymore. It seemed like I had come to Portland. I had the Funky Monkey (banana, peanut butter, chocolate almond milk, honey) smoothie. The large is filling without the add-ons. I got to watch them prepare it with the freshest food, not syrups. I definitely look forward to going back. I only wish that the cafe was open longer. read more

Best food in Elkhart, hands down.

Very good food and atmosphere. An organic menu with a variety of options. The taco salad is especially good. Smoothies look good, but didn't get one this visit. read more
