They had the "fancy" donuts, you know the ones that people get creative with cereals and stuff. No plain every day donuts. I got the apple fritter. It had cherries in it, I didn't know that. The 2 ladies that were there were super sweet. There is some seating inside and outside. And you can see the old architecture of the building inside and out which makes it fun. They are only open 6am-2pm. Will need to go back and try their pizza as I was not impressed with the donut.

I'm not a huge fan of cake donuts because every one I've had has left me dry-mouthed and searching for water... but not here! Brick Street's donuts were not dry at all! Moist and perfectly sweet! Owner Jim Sparks is a wonderful man, and they are a strong community supporter. Their family has operated the business for more than 40 years. My apple fritter was the best I have ever enjoyed, and we decided that it was definitely worth the 45-minute ride! They also have great donuts and cookies, plenty of indoor seating, and historic Winterset photos. This is a jewel. Visit it; you'll love the entire experience.

They may have had a better selection early in the morning but all they have is a very small case for goods - so how goo could the selection have been? I am not sure how this place made it in to the "100 Things to do in Iowa" book but if this is a sampling then Iowa must be a very boring place. What a horrible disappointment. We had croissant sandwiches with chicken salad mixes in the middle that were awesome. They made a lemon orzo pasta and cucumber dish with scotcheroos and cookies and a charcuterie board. We came for a private event so i'm assuming these aren't typically on the menu, however the bakery made all the food for us and if their menu tastes anything like that, i'm assuming it's wonderful! The team was super kind and considerate and everyone was going back for seconds and thirds of coffee. They have a beautiful back patio to sit on and the whole place just gave such a feeling of home and warmth. 10/10 recommend!
