I am a non-profit leader in Abilene. Our non profit acquired 6 executive bookcases. The owner was selling them at $250 each. He sold two of them for $100 each as a token payment and donated the remaining 4. The value of the 6 bookcases was $1,500. Our organization bought and had these bookcases donated in order to put a library in a small school for foster kids in Abilene. I hired The Moving Guys over the phone. No one told me that I had to sign a contract. I texted the pick up address and the delivery address. I was quoted $150 an hour for 2 guys. I asked if they wrapped furniture and was assured that they wrapped each piece in blankets. I also asked that the non fixed shelves be removed so they did not fall out during transport and break. Was assured that was normal. Next day, got a call and an hour later got another of a frantic driver. He had picked up the bookcases and used ONE strap to hold them up in the truck. He hit a bump or a dip in the road and the strap snapped. As a result 3 of the book cases were "smashed" as he said on the phone. He arrived 30 minutes later and when I demanded compensation he said they do 60 cents per pound per USDOT rules. I fought. He offered me $200 cash from his wallet "cause that is what the owner said you paid for them." I explained that it was mostly a donation. He accused me of lying and told me he called the previous owner and I only paid him $200. I explained that the owner got a tax receipt, etc. for the value. I asked to take photos of the stuff in the truck. He refused and closed the truck door. I told him to call the owner. He refused. I asked for the number. he refused. He asked if I wanted it unloaded and I said not until we resolve compensation. He eventually drove off around 930 AM. He ghosted me the rest of the day till around 130 I text AGAIN and said that if the owner did not call me immediately I was going to the BBB and police. Owner called 10 minutes later. She was angry and rude. Deflected everything. Called me a liar. Told me to accept the $200 and move on. Thy could not wrap their mind around the fact that just because they were donated to our organization that does not mean they have zero value. She said they had no value cause I paid nothing for them. They were free. However, value is not calculated like that...value is what it would be to replace them. We committed these to the school. We told the school. Now, we will have to fundraise to buy new bookcases. It is obvious that the owner has zero business skill or knowledge. Definitely not a spirit of compassion. Finally, she agreed to come with driver and deliver the bookcases and discuss reimbursement. She arrived and got out and was immediately rude. Terry Fields is by far the most unprofessional and rudest woman I have ever met. I had my phone in my hand and she immediately asked if I was recording. I said I was not. She said, "I dont care what you post online. " Driver and owner both told me that they had been in business for 20 years and had a great reputation in Abilene. Their trucks are falling apart, peeled paid...honestly, it appears that the owner just doesn't care about her business. In the end, I was not charged for delivery and I accepted the $200. Half of the bookcases were destroyed. So, here I am posting online. They are frauds. They are liars. They are deflectors.

    Scratched up door frame.

Agreed to show up at 1 pm. Showed up at 8:30 am, when we weren't ready for them. Broke several of the lids on our storage totes. Scratched up the door frame of our front door pretty bad while moving furniture into our house. Had a friend use them shortly after and had a similar experience. When I called to tell them about the issues, I got told they would check into it and get back to me, then I got ignored every subsequent time after that when I tried to get in touch with them. The movers were friendly, and I know things happen sometimes during a move, but they didn't even offer to make it right. Left us feeling frustrated and upset that we used them. Absolutely would steer everyone away from this company.

    Damage on furniture.

"The Abilenian Effect Series: The Moving Guys" I was referred to the Moving Guys. First, I called to schedule service. The person on the other end stated the more guys we hire, the cheaper it'll be because it'll take less time. So, my husband and I agreed to 4 guys for $150/hr. They arrived with only 3 guys because one called out. I was at our new residence and my husband was at the previous residence. We only wanted one heavy box moved (books) and all furniture, as we were moving everything else with our cars. We only needed hands for the heavy stuff. To my mistake, I tipped each of them as gratuity for their service before my husband brought my attention to one of the pieces of furniture with multiple ding marks and a chip in the same place that wasn't there before. The "team lead" got on the phone with his boss and vehemently denied they did damage--this was after I tipped them! The boss offered a nominal amount to pay for the damage. The amount they gave for the damage would only hide the damage by a marker. If we want permanent recourse, we'd pay for a replacement ourselves. Why would I trump up allegations for damage if I tipped gratuity? Later that day, we saw a chip on another furniture piece that wasn't there before, but we had already paid and they were long gone. Angering and disappointing. You'd think we should get a discount because with it being 3 guys, the job took longer, which in effect costs more money. All in all, we paid $400 plus tips for damages on 2 pieces of furniture. Rating: They get two stars because they were on time and one of the guys admitted to the damage we saw on the dining table and was sounded empathetic. But, we were told 4 guys, not 3, and so that was more expensive. Also, they seem overworked and have no days off we were told by one of them. My take is this: if you have expensive furniture, like, furniture you bought from a reputable furniture store (and not something you got from a department store and had to assemble yourself) The Moving Guys WILL NOT be the company to go to.

First of all, it was a long time waiting to move as we waited for the closing date on our new home to arrive, it kept being extended for reasons beyond our control. The Cherry Family Movers sent a crew who was largely inexperienced and young, although it would have been far better for the older of them to have been in charge. The younger one was the boss's son, and therefore, brash and careless. Many items were broken during the move, including the door at our old home in Abilene. In our new home, the hearth, was nicked, and the original refinished wood floor scratched in the living room of our new home. We would have provided dinner for the crew, but the boss's son disallowed that, and they did not have any breaks, other than water provided to them by us. We had a freezer top damaged, and gave the benefit of the doubt, as it was the first item, The struts on the hutch were damaged, because they did not remove the hutch from the buffet prior to moving it. Antique collectors items, snow globes, and figurines were broken, because they did not take the time to wrap them. Also, some items we have looked for in scavenger hunt style, because the remotes and cords were separated from the TV and bolts, separated from items that we needed to put together. The cost for the move was $3110 from Abilene to the Plainview area. Give the crew proper training and teach them how to pack and label correctly. Least of all provide an inventory sheet for damage control, and give the moving crew proper breaks to hydrate and eat. Surprisingly, the piano didn't fall like Jenga pieces. Lastly, many items were left behind, and yes, my husband will go back and retrieve them, including tools and flatware. Update: Not going to get into a flaming war. But, please do give ojos azul the shift leader position. I hope that things improve for all. Oh, and where oh where are the Firesticks?

If not for the experience itself but the lack of transparency, respect and urgency towards their customers. I booked Joe's Movers through Facebook Messenger on July 5, at 1438. I explained to whomever runs the page that I needed Movers for about 2 hours in order to load a 22ft. Penske truck on base at Dyess Air Force Base. My husband just had a hernia repair and is on a lifting restriction and was unable to help. I wanted to book these Movers so my dad who traveled 23 hours didn't have to break his back moving boxes after he traveled so hard to help us move. He successfully booked us for 2 hours on July 24th at 9 am. He assured me on many occasions that his people have been on base before without a problem and that they would be willing to meet me at the Dyess VCC for a visitors pass. With that being said, for those who don't know military families are OFTEN on tight moving schedules and plan their moves wildly in advance to accommodate a certain number of travel days. The first red flag should have been zero confirmation the night before. I reached back out to said Facebook page and asked for confirmation morning of that we still had Movers. I received a call from who I assume to be Joe stating that he found out a few days prior that he had a gentleman lose his id and could no longer get on base. He also mentioned he had a few people quit and he himself was out of town. He only had one mover for us and was having issues finding anymore. He understood my frustration and even though it was crappy we were willing to work with it in exchange for a drop in price. I was told that the one guy would come and meet at the VCC like planned. I waited at the VCC with no responses to multiple texts, fb messages and a call. Joe called back and let me know that even though he was already late our mover was picking up a uhaul for the next move, dollys, and a company vehicle. I explained to Joe I was very frustrated about the fact we booked them at 9 am and it was close to 10:00 I explained that we were on a tight schedule as cleaners were to be coming at 12. Joe showed zero sympathy, urgency or understanding in the matter and shoved it off as being one of those days. I understand that matra but try being the military couple far from home, on a moving schedule, standing in front of a 22 ft truck you have tp fill yourself as your movers backed out. Joe's movers never called, he never showed up and Joe left my text messages on read knowing exactly I'm sure the limbo situation they left us in. Do not expect reliability or communication from this company. Deeply disappointed in the whole experience and not even as much of an explanation from the company.

I called around to different area moving companies because we needed a team who would have the equipment to move and secure large appliances and furniture (refrigerator, washer/dryer, sectional sofa, dining table, etc.). I was explicit about these needs on the phone when I called BCM the first time. I specifically asked, "Will the movers have a dolly?" and explained what needed to be loaded. The man I spoke to assured me that they would: "Oh of course, of course. We are full-service, professional movers. We will arrive with a dolly and all the equipment needed." Also, I should mention that I hired a four-person team. Only three of them did any work. The fourth, as I mentioned, referred to himself as a "supervisor" and he had a clipboard. On the day of the move, a tiny car pulled up at 12:06 (our window was 8-12) and four guys got out, no dolly in sight. My husband and I immediately asked them about this, as there was no way to load the large items without one and we had specifically requested one. (Also, who ever heard of professional movers arriving to a job with no dolly?) The supervisor said "oh yeah, well its being used at another job right now, it won't be ready for an hour. Someone will go pick it up then." So for the first hour the movers had no dolly. And then one of them had to leave to go pick it up and drive it back to us. The remaining two guys loaded boxes while waiting, which does not take long. Especially since they gave no attention to how the boxes were loaded. Many of our fragile items were loaded on the bottom, and the boxes were not braced. They literally stacked them in leaning towers with things like china and dishes on the bottom (boxes were labeled FRAGILE, DISHES) and heavy boxes of books on top of them. Oh, I should mention they loaded our dresser VERTICALLY AND ON ITS SIDE (please see photo--in this photo you can also see one of the towers of boxes). Our couch was wedged in diagonally. I regret not taking a picture because it was truly something to behold. We purchased a stack of 12 furniture pads, NONE of which were used. The movers who unloaded the truck found all of them shoved in a corner in the back of the U-Haul. Literally, wadded up and shoved into the back. All of our furniture was scratched and damaged. Every single piece. They were not wrapped (with the exception of the drawers on the sideways dresser), and again, the furniture pads were not used. The company who unloaded us (The Move Pros--they were awesome) were appalled at the way the truck was loaded. The first thing they said was "I hope you didn't pay someone to do this". They actually encouraged us to contact BCM about their horrific loading job. When we called BCM to tell them this, they said it was our fault for moving "so far". As if us moving 3 hours away (yeah, not that far) somehow retroactively caused them to load the truck poorly and prevented them from using furniture pads or wrapping our solid wood dining room table. When we questioned them about clearly marked fragile, lightweight items like dishes being packed UNDERNEATH heavy boxes of books, the guy literally said "let me explain how boxes work". I should mention that they first time I called, when the owner wasn't on the call, the supervisor admitted that the job was "trash"--yes, he used that term, and said there was no excuse for the way the truck was loaded. He suddenly changed his tune when the owner was on the phone and they spent 20+ minutes blaming us for how the truck was loaded. Even going so far as to say that we should have "made suggestions" if we didn't want it loaded that way. I know I said I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy, but if a masked marauder ever murders my entire family I will exact revenge by recommending Big Country Movers for his next move.
