My car's catalytic converter was almost stolen overnight at 3am - luckily my alarm notified me and I went out and scared away the thieves. The rear pipe had been cut and the front was halfway cut. The O2 sensor was still intact and not cut so that was a huge money saver had it been cut. This business was open when I called first thing in the morning and they said bring it right over and then can weld it. Brought it in by tow truck, put on a lift and had them weld back the pipe in 10 minutes. $65 later and all working well. A well deserved 5 star experience.

I was recommended since mufflerville couldn't do the job since my kid car was too low. Renne is such a nice guy and he's a auto enthusiast. It's nice to know that there's still good tech like him around. This is just a hobby for him...not work! He truly enjoys what he does and it shows. He took care of my kid Honda S2000 that had a cracked exhaust flange. We chatted longer than the actual repair. Definitely a Jem shop to go to. Keep in touch and I'll say hello to Mickey for ya... cheers

This shop is an SGV gem. Renny is a true craftsman of automotives. I know it's called a muffler shop, but they can pretty much do it all especially when it comes to older and classic cars. He did a lot to get my sons car to get it in good shape.

these guys installed my catback exhaust system for a great price and quality work! would highly recommend!

Wow!!!! Great job and service. Andrew is hands down the best mechanic i have ever dealt with. Honest and upfront on all mechanic work and wow the pricing is Phenomenal! I brought my dads truck in to replace parts that was recommended by another mechanic to find out that wasn't the issue in the first place. Andrew did a "Free" diagnostic and found the real problem and fixed it at a great cost in labor as we brought in our own parts. Not only did we do the parts replacement but got a A/C recharge and a good steam clean of the engine. Which with the price charged for all the labor work it made us feel the steam clean and A/C charge was done for free. Oh not to mention he helped to buff out some scratches on our bumper without us asking. I Highly recommend this shop! Thank you Andrew

Went in to The Muff Shop to have a Borla muffler installed on my 2026 Subaru Crosstrek to get that subie rumble. Rene did an amazing job installing the muffler as well as the resonator delete. Rene has over 40 years of experience building race cars, trucks, hot rods. This shop is run by friendly folks that take care of their customers. If you need a custom exhaust or fix an existing one come to The Muff Shop in Covina. See Karissa, Rene or Andrew. They will take care of you.

Cat installed. Renny getting the welder to fix the hangar that is too short shown here

My first initial impression wasn't that good because they were alittle late, but the service and job was far beyond my expectations. Renny was super professional and installed my catalytic converter without a hitch. it also turned out that the hangar was damaged during shipping and Renny welded a piece of metal to fix it without any extra charge. this was even after the fact that they were 2/3 the price other shops have quoted me. Drew there also helped me diagnose my car by finding where my oil leak was coming from for free also! thank you guys, youve made a lifetime customer.

Our family's Ford Explorer required a water pump replacement…read more I visited several local auto shops to obtain quotes and was shocked, disappointed, and discouraged at the prices I was being quoted for the work my vehicle required ($5,000-$7,500) Shame on me for not reading Yelp reviews before wasting my time visiting other auto shops. I read the many positive reviews for Hye-Tech Auto Repair and decided to visit them. Upon entering, I was greeted by John (owner) with a friendly, "Welcome, how may I help you?" I explained that my Ford Explorer needed a new water pump and a few other items that other auto shops had advised me would require repair or replacement. While John looked up a few items on the computer to provide me with a quote, he introduced me to his son, Harry, who happened to be in the office. Thirty seconds later, John provided a quote that was $3,500-$4,000 less than the other shops. I could not believe it. John explained that he makes his living and succeeds in his business through repeat customers, and he does not believe in gouging customers for every last penny. He also shared that when he retires, his son Harry will take over the business, and he wants to leave Harry with a solid foundation of loyal repeat customers. It was then that I knew I could trust John and his son Harry. John went on to explain that replacing the water pump on a Ford Explorer was a 10-12 hour job, as it was an internal pump requiring numerous engine parts to be removed to reach it. This was the same thing all the other shops advised me. John suggested that I leave my vehicle, and he would perform a full inspection of the engine and contact me before doing anything to it. I agreed and left my vehicle. The following day, I was contacted by John, who advised me that the water pump did indeed need to be replaced, as it was the source of the constant leaks of the water coolant. I left my vehicle in John's shop for three days. During this time, John or his son, Harry, contacted me numerous times to keep me updated on the progress of my vehicle and also to point out that mechanics had discovered two or three very inexpensive items (under $50.00) which they recommended replacing, which I agreed to have done. All in all, I was and am extremely impressed and satisfied with everything about this shop. I spent much less money to have five different issues repaired on my vehicle at Hye-Tech than what I was quoted to replace my water pump alone by every single shop I visited prior to coming to Hye-Tech. John and Harry are very friendly, honest, and trustworthy. They are also very knowledgeable and experienced, and they offer GREAT customer service and communication. This is my new go-to shop for any issues involving our family vehicles. Thank you, Hye-Tech Auto Repair, for a very positive experience.

I chose this…read morecompany based on location and called ahead to confirm they could do more than just read basic codes. I had already done my own diagnostics and knew the car was running rich. I had ruled out the upstream O2 sensor, catalytic converter (both new), MAP sensor, and fuel injectors. I explained all of this to Matt before bringing the car in. He assured me they could perform deeper diagnostics with their equipment. After dropping off the car, Matt called and told me they had "confirmed" exactly what I had already told them, and that the next step would be pulling spark plugs--for an additional fee. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere. What I don't understand is why I was still charged the full $85 diagnostic fee, plus a $4 hazardous materials fee and $3 shop supply fee. Plugging a car into a diagnostic scanner does not generate any hazardous waste--no fluids are drained, no chemicals are used, and no parts are replaced. There's nothing about a basic scan that would justify a hazardous materials charge. That kind of fee typically applies when disposing of things like oil, coolant, or other regulated waste, none of which occurred here. In the end, I paid $92, wasted time and gas, and learned nothing new. The most concerning part was Matt admitting he didn't even know spark plugs would need to be checked as part of further diagnosis.

If its a clunker, they will give new life to it. Who needs a new car and all those monthly payments! Let me explain. This is the third time I have taken my cars here. The first two times (read my earlier reviews), repairs were made, they threw in some extras (FOR FREE!!), and the cars run great! Also, the price was so much lower than others I thought they made a mistake. Nope, the price was correct and much less than others. This latest repair on 6/26/2026, was for my 2003 Honda Accord EX. The photo of the invoice will show all the repairs they made (water pump, timing belt, etc.) They also noticed other items and addressed, and did a free oil change! Crazy huh! When did you ever get anything free from a car repair shop, except a free headache when you get the bill! No headache from them. Excellent service. Terrific price. HONEST MECHANICS! Afterward, I confirmed with CHATGPT (artificial intelligence) what was done: price, repairs, etc. The answer was all good and verified they did everything they were supposed to do, along with a excellent price for the area.
