This place is a gem! On a road trip from California to Denver, we decided to not take the same way back and go through New Mexico and Arizona. It was a last-minute decision so we were looking for a hotel that was pet friendly and reasonably priced. After reading the Reddit forums everyone said stay away from Albuquerque and any hotel that is near the freeway there. Well, shit, every single hotel is on the freeway. ...And that ladies and gentlemen is how we landed in Santa Fe. After reading the reviews in Santa Fe, we decided to stay at the Mystic because it sounded safe and breakfast was included. Also, the pet fee was fairly reasonable at $25 for the stay and $30 for a one time cleaning. Upon driving onto the property, you are met with paved gravel, ample parking, and rooms accessible only through the gate. What's cute about this motel (and most motels) is that you can drive up and park in front of your hotel room. This was no different. The standard room is tiny, but for 2 travelers met all of our needs. King size bed, bath and shower, mini fridge, and cable. The bed itself was comfy, but the pillows could really use a bit of an upgrade. It felt like a bunch of cotton balls, all in a pillowcase, and it was very difficult to sleep on. For the price of the hotel when we saw the continental breakfast, we were stunned! Bacon, seasoned potatoes, yogurt, oatmeal, fresh fruit, waffles, coffee, and juice. Incredible! They have an event venue in the back, which I've read hosts live music. If you're looking for a quick, overnight stay that is reasonably priced, this would be it. We spent a weekend at The Mystic Motel in Santa Fe and overall found it to be a nice, quaint property with a lot of charm. The indoor and outdoor lounge areas are thoughtfully designed with local decor, which really adds to the ambiance. The front desk staff was friendly, and check-in was quick and easy. House came around daily providing fresh linens and cleaned the room. We booked especially looking forward to breakfast based on prior reviews, but it ended up being a bit disappointing. The only protein options the first morning were undercooked bacon and yogurt, and the strawberries were very acidic. The second morning did include breakfast burritos, but they weren't labeled and were in limited supply, so we chose to go out for breakfast instead. There were some fun elements, like karaoke and live music, which added to the experience. However, Saturday night there was a party that went on until a little after midnight. It could be heard throughout the property despite the stated quiet hours of 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., and we weren't notified in advance. The event was also open to people outside the motel, which led to many non-guests parking in the main lot, which is limited, and hotel guests having to use overflow parking. Overall, it's a lovely and unique place to stay, but it didn't fully meet expectations particularly with breakfast and guest-focused amenities. I'd recommend prioritizing parking for motel guests and setting clearer expectations around events so guest can plan ahead. read more

None of the hours were correct. It says it will charge your card on arrival or when the desk closes but we were charged an hour early. Okay, but when we tried to contact the desk there was no answer, it goes straight to voicemail without any message, just the beep. We get there in a downpour and while we have the code to the lock box there is no instructions on how to open it. The desk was locked up 15 minutes early but there was another guest pounding on the locked door with different complaints, so I stood by waiting for help. The restaurant/bar said it was open until 10, it too was already locked up at 8:45pm. It's a nice remodel of a drafty old motel but the draft is still there. There is no coffee in the room and the hours for breakfast are listed as both 7 & 8 am depending on where you're looking, and we had business to attend to. There is no microwave as advertised. The refrigerator buzzed loudly all night which was almost good white noise over the neighbors tv all night thru the paper thin walls. They had not emptied the trash basket. The beds are metal spring so they creaked every time we moved. The sink bowl takes up the entire counter. One of the products had been used Otherwise, cute. read more

When my teenage son and I had to shelter from a crazy dust storm instead of camping, The Mystic was an amazing find that made a fallback plan into a trip highlight. The vision for transforming a classic motor inn into a modern Southwestern Oasis is impeccable. You still feel the vintage roots, but every surface and amenity has been updated for beauty and comfort. We stayed in room 11, but were handed a key with a rune symbol to locate it. Fun! The room has comfortable double beds with plenty of available outlets, a nice shower and a capable mini split air system. The hotel was full, but we were never bothered by noise from adjacent rooms. Parking was adequate for a full facility, and the gate/fence gave a little extra sense of security beyond a normal open hotel parking lot. The diner served a complimentary continental breakfast that was a good notch above the usual motel chain. And with all the nice servingware, it felt closer to a BnB than a hotel. I spent some extra time walking around and admiring the curated art and interior design. So much thought put into this place. The service and staff were super friendly and I enjoyed chatting with them about the place. We even receive a "neighbor" discount, as we came in from Texas. They said the owner comes in from Texas every couple of weeks to check in. Only a couple of opportunities would have made our experience even better. It took about 10 minutes to locate the front desk attendant when I arrived. Now, there was this huge wind storm happening, so I am sure they were busy battening the hatches. But maybe a way to page for service at the front desk would help. The same thing happened when we arrived at the diner for breakfast. No one around for a few minutes until I peeked into the kitchen. Just a simple ringer or maybe a camera to notify the staff that someone has arrived or needs service. From a facilities perspective, the door handle on our room was loose enough that it was tricky to lock/unlock with the key, but the deadbolt was nice and secure. Overall, The Mystic was a true highlight of our trip and I can't wait to come back and stay here with my partner. read more

Very nice newly renovated boutique hotel with a lovely bar/restaurant. Rooms are nicely done, clean and quiet. Parking lot is secure with a gate. Earl did a great job with breakfast which was outstanding. Julian was very helpful helping park our trailer. All the rest of the staff was so nice. We will be back ! read more

We enjoyed staying at the Mystic so much over the Holiday weekend! Conveniently located next to Jackolope on Cerrillos Rd, this boutique hotel is full of design inspo! We arrived early and grabbed a delicious bite at their cafe. Our server was very kind and helpful. They have a great little menu for the afternoon, and a happy hour starting at 5. The seating area in the cafe or lounge is comprised of several different spaces, plenty of space for groups and fireplaces. The room itself was sparse but had all the essentials for one night. We also enjoyed their delicious breakfast in the morning, which is included in your stay. This is an affordable option for Santa Fe and although it is quaint, I feel they have maximized their outdoor spaces well. We will be back! read more

I recently enjoyed five nights at the Mystic. I found the staff to be helpful and friendly, the room comfortable, and the breakfast top notch. I spent time in the lounge, the outside breakfast area, the concert space and loved the variety of places one could hangout. Next door, the Jackalope, offered an unexpectedly interesting shopping experience. Thanks to the kind front desk--Ashleigh, Anya and Nick, and to Earl the amazing morning Chef, who drives all the way up from ABQ at 4 am to prepare your healthy breakfast! And much appreciation goes out to housekeepers Xenia and Isaura and the others, who changed the towels and straightened up the room daily. They did a wonderful job! MUST READ: This happened on Saturday, May 24th around 7pm. Upon entering, the décor and aesthetic was beautiful! We sat down in the sofa area in the middle of the restaurant and ordered some drinks. 1. Our two drinks took about 30 minutes to come out, which is a while considering there weren't many people even at the restaurant, and they did not taste good at all. 2. We ordered one plain Mystic Burger - came with the toppings and wasn't plain. 3. one regular Mystic Burger (pepper jack listed on the menu) - came with cheddar and a hair melted into it 4. one Buffalo Bleu Grilled Chicken Sandwich - blue cheese is in the name of the item, on ingredient list, and comes on a potato bun...and they gave it to us with cheddar & NO blue cheese & on sliced sourdough, not a potato bun. 5. We asked for the regular burger with the hair to be switched out with a Buffalo Sandwich instead - this sandwich was brought out with pepper jack cheese versus cheddar like on the first chicken sandwich & again...no blue cheese. We asked for a side of blue cheese since neither sandwich came with it...and they brought us some which did not make sense as to why they didn't add it to the sandwich since they clearly have some in stock. 6. Lastly, as we were finishing our food, I found a cap nut at the bottom of the bowl of French fries I had been eating out the whole time. I am glad I saw it and that this order did not end up going to a child who might have swallowed this. I wish I has taken a picture of the actual item, but I was too shocked and just sat there with my jaw on the floor. (I attached what it looked like off of google images) I had never been through something like this at a restaurant nor any business I have been a customer at. The waitress hardly came to check on us and when we brought all of this to her attention, she didn't seem to care one bit. Beautifully resurrected Route 66 motel (renovated in 2022-23). Immaculately clean and had a modern hand shower, lots of hot water and great water pressure, along with nice bedding and a good mattress. My traditional room had a beautiful Mexican tile shower, saltillo tile, cowboy print barkcloth for shower curtain and shades, and lots of mid-century cowboy-themed tchotchkes. (Some rooms are decorated in a "desert bohemian" style, and are much more restrained, but I was going for the Route 66 experience). They kept the original footprint, so the room was small, but efficiently organized. There was live music in the bar the night we checked in, but our rooms were quiet. The breakfast was a happy surprise (bacon, potatoes, yoghurt, oatmeal, make-your-own waffles, fresh fruit, good coffee) and the buffet was constantly replenished. By report, cocktails were delicious and glittery. The staff were all courteous and helpful. When I was loading my car, one of the housekeeping staff materialized to ask whether I needed any help. My dogs were welcomed, and the pet fees aren't bad. read more

I contacted The Mystic after The Mavericks canceled their performance at The Santa Fe Opera and informed them we were looking for some live entertainment that night. This was done with 9 days notice. I had friends and family arrive from 2 states. They happily took our reservation for their live music event. I received a call 2 nights prior to our arrival informing me they were "transitioning" from a restaurant to a bar and our reservation was not going to be honored. Good luck. We recently had an event at The Mystic. The weather was not good and they did their best to help make the day special. It was great. There was a lot of water and mud but we all made the best of it. I wasn't thrilled with the rooms which were very overpriced No iron, hair dryer, or coffee maker in the rooms. Pretty ordinary basic stuff. Beds and pillows were pretty comfortable. Even with the discount for the event. We had an issue where we had booked the rooms for an amazing deal. Then they figured out the issue and charged us full price again. We tried to see if there was a compromise but we were told no and we could cancel our reservations. The issue they had was not our fault, problem on website, and they should have worked with us to maybe meet in the middle? They were kind of rude and knew because of the event we weren't going to cancel. The "Santa Fe" experience was lost on us since we are natives to the area. read more

I love this place! The best ambiance and design, amazing events, great food and drinks (I love the snake charmer mezcal drink), and I always meet the best people here. They also have a huge back space for the coolest events and nice sweet rooms. I also met the owners and they are super helpful and down to earth, they clearly put their heart into everything and care so much about people having a good experience here. I first visited The Mystic a couple of months after they opened. I was optimistic, their interior design was stunning, and I met the owners, CA transplants who were inspired. That night my friends and I experienced the worst cocktail waitress I'd ever met. After asking 4x for our drink order she left and came back after a long time and asked "can I get you order again, this time i have paper and a pen," she then delivered our drinks - not the drinks we'd ordered - when we pointed this out she asked, "can you keep them so I don't get in trouble." We did but wow. It didnt help that each time she confronted us she said, "hey guys," like she was a part of our party, ignorant of the terrible service she was providing. I thought I'd give them another chance, they were new. I waited 6 MO's and returned. Oh jezzz. We were the fist to arrive that night to an empty restaurant. We ordered drinks which took a long time to arrive. The waiter never returned for our food order. It was almost an hour. I got to up ask, "may we order please," and the waiter responded with defensiveness and anger, "I'm the only one here!" Now the place is full, people all around us are eating. He returns to get our order, we took a check and went home to eat left overs. read more

The food and cocktails are fantastic. Very beautiful restaurant with lounging areas and outdoor space. Incredible back area that is used for events but otherwise available to hotel guests. I cannot say enough about the friendly and competent staff. They were very patient and accommodating of us and our wild little neurodivergent kids. Our room was minimalist, immaculate, and comfortable. It was smaller than we expected, but hey, it's still a motor lodge. I was so impressed with the transformation. Fair price when considering the full breakfast available to guests every morning. Pastries were incredible. Good coffee. Overall this was such a nice treat for our family's 3 day getaway.
