It was so busy. We waited like an hour. Waited at the table, it was around holiday time so it makes sense. The food was pretty good. I got a basic breakfast plate, this was the strawberry banana Nutella crepe. It had syrup drizzled on it. For how busy it was I was not the happiest but they seemed to have a wide variety of foods so I would love to come back and try!

The dark wood decor and dimly lit restaurant is not the most lively, but executed a solid bison burger. Wednesday is burger special day, and was pretty reasonably priced for dinner (~$15). The carrots with nuts on top were very thanksgiving flavored with cinnamon or nutmeg. I think the carrots and the burger were not a good match, but I enjoyed them both.

Short rib hash The Comeback Burger with an egg Traditional Mariemont Breakfast Good food for breakfast, about a half hour wait. Service was subpar, not very friendly or attentive and had to ask for creamer and sugar for the hot coffee. Very busy spot for Sunday breakfast.

I love the Mariemont area of Cincinnati. We discovered the National Exemplar as we were looking for a good breakfast in the area. Great experience all around at 10am on a Monday. Very nice menu, excellent surroundings, super-duper service, and clean bathrooms (thanks for that). I can't wait to return for a dinner. It is attached to the Mariemont Inn.

This was my second time here. I happened to bring my mom and daughter this time because I raved about the pot roast that we had two weeks ago. I am sorry that I did. It was terrible. I feel that something was off with the sauce. The meat was good, but the rest of us were disappointed to spend $29 for a meal that wasn't good. I will come back, but I definitely will not get the pot roast again. The service is always great and the restaurant is always clean and it's in a nice little area . Was a little bit busier last night with large parties.

Came here for brunch on a Saturday; they use virtual waitlist on Yelp, but didn't even need to use it for our party of 4 at 11! We were able to get a table right away. Everyone enjoyed their food and we had excellent service. Definitely can't wait to come back and try some other brunch items and possible come back for dinner as well!

We came here for a nice family date night on a Sunday evening because my husband wanted to show me how cool the vibe was lol. It's a really old school place - my husband's kind of vibe lol. Anywho, we had a nice dinner here. Overall I would like to give my experience here a 3.5, but I'll round up. Our server was really nice and attentive. Our food came out in a timely manner too. - Volcano Pork Shank: This was definitely the star of the night. The pork shank was tender and cooked to perfection - this was really a perfect dish! And it was a huge portion! - Mushroom Truffle Garganelli: Your girl right here loves a good mushroom truffle dish.. but this.. was not it. I was honestly disappointed on this dish.. a few things here.. the dish was very watery.. meaning that they did not reduce the liquid from the mushroom enough and it lacked salt and cheese. I took half of this home and added some heavy cream and parmesan.. reduced it down and it tasted SO MUCH BETTER. Overall a nice experience, but I wish my dish was better.

Came in for some brunch this past weekend, it was my first time here and I was so pleasantly surprised! The indoor and outdoor dining area is very spacious, everything felt super cozy and comfortable. My fiancé order from their brunch menu and I got a couple things from their lunch menu. The service was quick and super friendly! There is a lobby attached that you can go and grab drinks and relax. We got their traditional breakfast plate and their half sandwich and half soup lunch special. For their sandwich I got the Donna chicken salad for their soup. I got their special of the day, chicken and vegetables with noodles. I would definitely come back to try other menu items, their dinners look amazing!

    Bloody Mary

The weekend brunch has some delicious menu items but the star of the show was the Bloody Mary!! It could be an appetizer by itself! So good I took my mom the next day lol. We will definitely be back! Our server Kyla was the sweetest.

I don't have too much to say about the drinks as I just had water, but the food was tasty and exactly what we needed on a cold afternoon. To start out, we ordered the famous beer cheese, and crab cakes for the table. The famous beer cheese was similar to a fondue but it was prepared well and had me wishing I had more. Very tasty and perfect for sharing. The crab cakes were equally tasty and tasted fresh with a nice consistency. As a table, we ordered the mariemont salad, the Cuban, the famous burger and a bowl of chili. I don't have too much to say about the burger. It was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. The salad was unique and was shared by 2 people at our table. The Cuban was filled well and good value. Its always nice to see a restaurant not skimp out and deliver a nice product. In my opinion, the star of the show was the chili. This was a hardy, filling and extremely tasty chili! And of course, it was exactly what I needed on a cold, cloudy day. I ended up ordering a second bowl, it was that good! I would reccomend this place for a casual meetup with friends or family. Plenty of cozy seating inside, fast and friendly service and great food!

It's a salmon patty on a ciabatta bun with basil pesto, arugula, tomato, and garlic aioli. It was DELICIOUS. A lot of times, fish based patties will be too flaky and won't mesh well with the flavors of the sauces. The balance on this dish between its flavors and textures was top notch. I am highly intrigued to go gather some friends and take them here try more of their menu! The fig & goat cheese bruschetta is calling my name Also pictured are what my parents got: fish + chips (subbed chips for a side salad) and the grilled chicken sandwich Our service was slow at start; we showed up right at 6:30 when it got super busy and so we sat for about 10-15 minutes without having been served. Once I made eye contact with the waitress, she was able to come by and our service there on out was very timely!

Oh. My. Gosh. SO so good…read more We started with the lavender lemonade mocktail -- which I absolutely added tequila to -- and it was smooth, refreshing, and dangerously delicious. 10/10 would order again exactly the same way. For appetizers, we got the whipped feta. Delicious, creamy, and perfect for sharing -- but fair warning: avoid the peppers if you're not into a little kick. They sneak up on you! My friend and I split the house salad and WOW. A complete showstopper. So fresh, the vinaigrette was bright and delightful, and those fresh bacon bits? Chef's kiss. It's rare that a house salad stands out like that, but this one absolutely did. Now let's talk about the prime rib. I typically do not like steak or prime rib... but our waitress recommended it as the best thing on the menu, and honestly the Yelp photos had already convinced me. When I tell you it was BOMB -- I mean it. So tender. So flavorful. Perfectly cooked. Paired with broccolini and mashed potatoes, it was a whole experience. To end the night, we shared the apple tart with cinnamon ice cream -- warm, sweet, comforting, and the perfect finish to an already amazing meal. Overall, this was a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. Great service, incredible food, and such a vibe. I cannot wait to come back.

I got the lavender lemonade mocktail which was delicious and refreshing without being too floral or soapy. For dinner I got the braised short rib which was so tender you could cut it with a fork. The bone marrow demi glaze I could have a bowl of that stuff is phenomenal. The broccolini was roasted perfectly but I felt the potatoes could've used more seasoning. My mother got the lemon chicken pasta, which was good at the time, but when she got home it did not sit well with her. All in all, I would come back for the short rib, and I hope Alara finds a new location soon. The inside is nice and romantic seating, but it is cold ... like bring a jacket and it seems it doesn't matter the season it is colder inside because I saw a google review that also mentioned the temperature of the dining room.

Exceptional flavor, great deal, cooked right -- the kind of wings that make grown adults nod silently while chewing like they just heard the national anthem. You've clearly cracked the code there. Now... the rest feels like a restaurant that needs Ken back in the building doing what he does best: tightening Quality Control like a Marine inspecting bunks. The good stuff first:The ambiance is cozy. The TVs with the Olympics everywhere? Fantastic touch. It felt festive, communal, almost European... if Europeans watched curling while eating fries. Our waitress (who has served me a couple times before) is kind, attentive. Whoever is doing hiring and training deserves a raise...but today many of them seemed checked out. Now for the reality check -- delivered with affection: The dining room seating is uncomfortable. The enclosed patio high-tops are noticeably better. The regular chairs feel like they were designed by a chiropractor trying to drum up future business. The chili had good flavor but arrived just barely warm and missing onions, like it stopped just short of finishing school. The potatoes came missing bacon at first. When it did arrive, the portion was... let's call it "symbolic." About one crumpled strip -- not worth the price, even though the bacon itself was perfectly cooked and the aioli made the dish taste very good. Great ingredients, sloppy execution. Some plates are awkwardly shaped, which turns eating into a geometry problem. Our daughter -- a 23-year-old self-appointed restaurant expert -- liked the pancakes, (wanted the goetta burger but it was 86'd) and the sauce had developed that thick film that says, "I've been sitting here longer than a Senate filibuster." Again, good flavor... just tripped by execution. We also watched a neighboring table wait a long time to cash out -- long enough to turn a good experience into a frustrating exit. Julie said the girls bathroom felt like an outhouse in the Arctic on this snowy morning. Hand dryers are below the belt, so low you could dry your shoes. Take your Doan's Pills if you're over 60 and want to dry your hands. One ironic upside: those wobbly hard dining room seats do ensure fast table turnover. They also strongly discourage lingering for after-dinner drinks -- which I'm guessing was not the business strategy. Bottom line, Ken: This is a good restaurant that should be one of the best neighborhood spots in the city. The bones are strong. The staff is usually strong. The wings are elite. What's missing is your signature tightening of the details.... the last 10% that turns "good" into "people won't shut up about it." Because right now, this place feels like a Ferrari that just needs a tune-up. And everyone knows you're one of the best mechanics in town.
