This shop can look intimidating from the outside if you are not already super familiar with wine (let alone "natural wine"), but the Natural Wine Company's salespeople are all very knowledgeable, personable, and honest in their recommendations. When I asked about certain bottles I was attracted to (simply on the merit of their packaging), I was automatically given flavor profiles from memory and told whether or not they liked it. I appreciated the transparency! In the search for a classic full-bodied red, I was pointed toward a moderately priced Pinot Noir that went on to check all my boxes and impress at dinner. And no, I won't tell you what it is, because until their next shipment, I think they only had one bottle left, and I call dibs! read more

This place used to be great; apparently, they have been under new management in the more recent years. They were very knowledgeable, friendly, and mature. I emphasize 'mature' because clearly, a shift happened when the millennial generation took over the workforce, as humility seems to be a construct lost on this particular generation (a generalization). I have not been there more than two times since the change, but I used to stop in often, parking in the area to take the L train into the city to dance (contemporary, not stripper) before the pandemic. Since then, I have only popped in out of need on our way to our friends' BYOB restaurant. Both times, I had a similar interaction with the same blonde millennial baby manager who clearly thinks his - don't stink. Now, I can't tell if he just hates my face in particular (I do have really great hair, so maybe it's envy), or he enjoys being a rude human. Either way, I don't have patience for whatever is going on there, especially when I believe it's so much easier to be nice, kind, friendly - all the adjectives that would make a customer want to come back. Never again. I am still laughing inside at how obnoxious he came off - I can't. When I came back to the car, my husband saw my face and said: "Again, the same guy?!" I tried twice. I am done. But I would like to say that the other employee (thin male, black hair/mustache) is super sweet (heart emoji to you). Additionally, I pretty much never come on Yelp to give a bad review, only to give props (if I am unhappy about something that has a legitimate claim, I would much rather give the feedback privately). In this case, the attitude I got in my direction was so unacceptable, and unnecessary that I had to put this baby on blast. In all fairness, people in the area seem to like this store per the reviews (maybe just friends?), so to each their own. As for me, I left this time without buying anything (why would I give him my money) and drove up the road to another wine/liquor shop where everyone was super cool. Please learn from it. read more

Lapin and I were in the neighborhood waiting for our brunch reservation. We walked passed the place and thought it would be a fun to check it out. The wine store is a bit smaller than other places we been too. The staff was super helpful though. When, we walked in we were greeted but was allowed to peruse the aisles ourselves. Within 10 minutes or so, one of the cashier asked if we needed help. She recommended a bottle for wine for us to try based off of Lapin's tastes. The prices are a bit on the higher end but I would still visit again because of how welcoming and helpful the staff was. They do offer tastings as well but we were already going to have a boozy brunch and didn't want to start too early. read more

I hate going to most wine stores because it can be intimidating experience, especially when you're buying for someone else. This is my go to wine shop even though it's a few miles away from my house. This place deserves a lot more love. The staff (or owners?) always greet me with a smile and offer to help. They also don't judge when I sheepishly decline their help, and buy one of their cheapest bottles (they have plenty in the $10-$15 range). Even at those price points, everything that I've bought here has been great. Since I've started asking for help, they've always been gracious and generous with their advice. They seem to always offer "just enough" info to teach me a little about wine and help me make a decision, but it never leaves me feeling overwhelmed or intimidated. I also get the feeling that if I kept asking questions, they'd have A LOT of wine knowledge to share. Bonus points for offering primarily organic/no-additives/biodynamic (I guess I should ask them what biodynamic means!) wines. I guess the only downside is--I've started spending more here! read more

He was able to explained the reason why this Loire wine I had previously tasted certain way and the taste description was accurate.
