I am so happy I found this awesome business! I am a huge fan or organic and am all for supporting local businesses. Before my neighbor introduced to me The Neighborhood Harvest I was getting my greens and veggies from the local Food Lion or Krogers. It was difficult to find organic produce that wasn't already ready to go bad. The greens and veggies I get every week are SO FRESH and DELICIOUS! I typically get kale, cucumbers and a bag of the Green Machine blend which is perfect for my daily green smoothies! There hasn't been a time yet that the greens haven't been perfect, never wilted or smelly! We recently tried the fresh apple cider, it was SO GOOD! We just got a notice that they are having fresh cookies as well so we are definitely going to place an order for those as well! I especially love that I am assigned to my own Neighborhood Harvest representative who checks in with me periodically to make sure I am a happy customer. I get text messages of any particular deals they are having, last week they were having a deal on pears. I don't mind having to place my ice packs out in my cooler the night before and so far I've never had a problem with my deliveries. I definitely recommend investing your money in their fresh greens which is great for your health. read more

After multiple deliveries, I can say that maybe 75% of the items I've received are great - fresh and delicious. I've liked several of the frozen meals as well including the breakfast hash and pastas. However I have twice now received items that were spoiled including green beans and very wet (almost like they were defrosted blueberries). I know fresh, off-the-bush blueberries thanks to my in-laws in Currituck. These were NOT it. And this stuff isn't cheap! I've been promised a credit for the green bean incident and never got one. A second email re: the blueberries has since gone unanswered. I'm very hesitant to order again! read more

I really wish that I was that person that loves eating salads. I am pretty health conscious, however often I consciously choose unhealthy options. I know better- I do. In comes the Neighborhood Harvest. There is something magic about their farm- everything is delicious. Plus they partner with Baker's Crust to offer delicious bakery options and now soups too! You can get milk and butter so your basic shopping trip is all taken care of in one delivery. Once you set up your account everything is SO easy to manage online. No weird customer service numbers to call when you go on vacation, just a few clicks on their site and your deliveries can be put on hold. If you forget to put out your cooler (even though they always send a reminder email) they have you covered with their own. You do have to pay a fee in this situation, but it is so much better than finding wilted greens pr sour milk on your front doorstep just because you were in a rush leaving for work. These greens taste unlike any others. They are absolutely delicious! Crisp and dare I say a little sweet. I also can't describe how good their cucumbers are. Seriously- I am not really a cucumber gal, but these are the bomb! My favorite order includes their bread, tomatoes, and some lettuce for BLTs. Oh man and their goat cheese.... Really I haven't had anything bad from them and I have been a customer for a little over a year now. It is set up automatically so I have "no choice" but to keep healthy options in my fridge. On busy weeks it keeps me from falling into the fast food cycle because I always know I have something quick, easy, and healthy waiting for me at home. read more

What makes Neighborhood Harvest different? Lemme tell you - their produce is grown hydroponically, from non-GMO seeds and are not sprayed with pesticides. They're grown locally in Suffolk, VA in temperature-controlled greenhouses so the lettuce is SO clean you don't need to rinse it. Plus it's ALWAYS in season and fresh! It came from an hour away - not California and is several days old by the time I get it. Plus they've partnered with awesome Virginia companies to bring other goodies to you such as Baker's Crust and Homestead Creamery and some cheeses from local farmers who sell their wares at the Smithfield Farmer's Market. I'm a big fan of food delivery services because I hate shopping (unless it is late night online internet clothes shopping that is). I'm an even bigger fan of local food delivery because I want as much local as I can get. I've been having milk delivered by Oberweis for years and with the addition of Homestead Creamery milk delivery, butter, eggs, bread, hummus, soups and other yummies in addition to the lettuce, veggies (like avocado, cucumbers and tomatoes) I can get nearly all of my basic shopping completed in one simple order from NH! Win! I have had a few issues with brown avocados or some squishy tomatoes over the last year but a quick email to customer service and I'm refunded for those items. It hasn't happened too often and when it does, they handle it quickly and well. You'll need to set up an account with them, fill out some paperwork, and provide your billing information. You have to either purchase or provide a cooler and you'll be charged deposits for items like the glass milk bottles and ice packs, but as long as you leave them out for the delivery folks to pick up on the next trip, you'll be credited that toward the next delivery. The Bibb lettuce is amazing as are the micro greens and the hummus. Mmmm! You can sign up to get several packages as far as greens with different varieties and sizes and they have micro greens as well. It's fabulous. Love love love love love!!! read more

Love this service! Veggies are terrific, fresh and tasty. I've been wowed by the mandarins, asparagus and Brussel sprouts. The hamburgers are also delicious. I look forward to my weekly delivery and am glad that I'm no longer stuck with whatever produce I can find at the grocery store. read more

Few thoughts on the products and services I have received from Neighborhood Harvest (NH). My first NH order was okay. I received a refund on the sorry-looking lemons (lemon of a deal) because paying $5 for two scrawny lemons was ridiculous. Though I voiced my dissatisfaction with the apples, I did not ask for a refund but those expensive apples were sub-par to the apples I get from the Charlottesville area or even from Kroger and Walmart. My first box of Hamlin oranges were delicious! They were juicy, fresh and good flavor. The second order of Hamlin oranges were not the same quality of Hamlin oranges I received in my first order. For nine (9) oranges for $16 I expected the same quality. Instead what I received were small, pit-filled, bad tasting oranges that did not have a orange-color peel. The tangelos were just as bad with a soft mushy texture that my compost pile enjoy more than I did. I will gladly pay a bit more for delicious items but the oranges were a huge flop. Careful, NH will charge you a bag fee of $10 unlike competitor Oberweise, who will not only provided a couple of fee bags, but they also included a fee cooler on our first order and to me, that is an awesome business strategy. I understand that NH, like all other food delivery companies have been flooded with orders. So I overlooked the first couple of NH delivery hiccups. But the poor quality of overpriced fruit and the $10 bag did not rest easy with me. The lemons, apples and oranges should have been inspected prior to delivery. This feedback is intended to help NH. Being a small business owner myself, I like to support other small businesses especially homegrown here in Virginia. NH is probably going through growing pains and definitely needs to provide better quality products in order to succeed. For now, NH is selling expensive produce without quality. read more

Great produce! All items we receive are of the highest quality! Lettuces are right out of the garden fresh! So are the heirloom tomatoes and cucumbers!
