I ordered the Premium "This Magic Moment" Sympathy Bouquet online for my best friend who had just lost her brother. The online picture showed an arrangement of all roses, which is precisely what I paid $95 plus a $20 delivery fee for. When my friend received the bouquet and sent me a photo, it looked nothing like what I had ordered. The arrangement included daisies instead of being composed entirely of roses. When I called the store to address this, Tim, the owner, immediately became defensive. Instead of listening to my concern, he dismissed it, insisting there were 12 roses in the arrangement and telling me to have the recipient count them. I explained again that what I ordered was an all-rose bouquet, not a mixed one. His response was to cite the small disclaimer on the website about substitutions. While I understand substitutions may occur, it is not acceptable to charge a premium price for a whole rose arrangement and then substitute with daisies. What I found most troubling, however, was Tim's attitude. Rather than taking responsibility or even offering to make it right, he repeatedly defended himself, referenced his 88 years in business, and ultimately told me not to use his shop again. For an owner to respond that way to customer feedback, especially in such a sensitive situation, is unprofessional and deeply disappointing. I will never use this florist again, and I strongly caution others: unless you are willing to pay a premium price for roses and end up with daisies, take your business elsewhere. I ordered flowers for my aunt from their website. I selected a specific arrangement and upgraded to the premium price to include more flowers in the arrangement which consisted of a variety of roses. I was surprised and very disappointed when my aunt sent me a picture of the arrangement and it looked nothing like what I had ordered. Although she was happy, having a completely different arrangement delivered is more than disappointing. When I called to question the arrangement that was sent, I was told that they don't make arrangement like the photo I selected on the website. Those photos are from Teleflora. So be aware that if ordering from Johnson's they will decide on the flowers and the picture they supply on the website has nothing to do with what your recipient will get. read more

Ordered a wreath for my Father's Funeral at the Albert G Horton Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The wreath received was sparse on flowers, hardly any greenery, and the ribbon was cheap looking and was supposed to display the word "Dad". It did but it was so small you had to get close to see it and it looked like it had been done by a 5 year old. Poor! Very disappointed!!! And the cost was nearly $230 in total! it wasn't worth $50 in my opinion. Called the owner and he was of no help. He was a smoke blower. I would DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND Johnson's Gardens for any flower arrangement needs. Terrible! read more

I saw the amazing reviews for this shop and decided to order an arrangement for my mother's birthday. I admit I placed the order online the night before, but the website didn't have the day blocked out. I purchased the better option Goodness and Light bouquet. The day of my mother's birthday came and went and the arrangement didn't arrive. I called in the morning on the next day and explained the situation, the gentleman on the phone jumped on me a bit and wouldn't let me speak saying they had been closed for the holidays, he was going to call me this morning and ask if I still wanted to deliver them or just get my money back. Figuring he has just had a bad day coming back from a long weekend I said I completely understand and would love to just have them delivered. He said okay and he would do them up real nice for me. Within 6 hours the flowers arrived and my mother sent me a picture of the arrangement and thanked me. Now the good things I can say, the arrangement was pretty and the flowers looked fresher then anything I have seen from another store around. But the arrangement didn't look anything like the picture at all, that I had ordered. Half the colors in the original were missing making it look completely different. Upset I went ahead and called the shop and spoke to a different gentleman who wanted pictures sent. I sent both pictures below and left 2 different phone numbers for them to reach back out to me. Thirty minutes later I get a call from my mother upset saying they contacted her and said they were refunding my money and I couldn't ever place another order with their shop again. She was upset because he wouldn't let her speak and she felt she couldn't enjoy her flowers. I believe it is extremely unprofessional to call the recipient of the flowers as they were not the one who had ordered it. If the gentleman had looked at the order or the sent messages he had 2 different phone numbers for me to call. I didn't call to get a refund, I just wanted to know what happened, I definitely didn't want to get banned for voicing my complaint to them. I am a reasonable person. If the shop realized that the original order couldn't be completed to look similar it would have taken 1 phone call to myself and I would have been happy to say yes just give me a designer's choice bouquet instead. I trust your artistic choice and I would have been fine with that and never have complained. I called back a third time to speak to the gentleman again and he again wouldn't let me speak and jumped down my throat wondering why I complained even though my mother liked the flowers. I never even got a chance to explain, which is why I am now writing this review in hopes they take it to heart if they read this and don't lose a customer because of miscommunication. Not every customer wants their money back after a mistake. But jumping to defensive and not listening to a customer's critique will lose customers faster than anything. read more

I kept meaning to write a review for Johnson's Gardens after I visited their place a year ago, but I dropped the ball. I went there looking for a couple of plants that would be easy to take care of since I tend to have a black thumb. I was impressed with the store itself--full of beautiful flowers, plants, gardening accessories and tchotchkes. After wandering around and nobody had greeted me yet, I asked for some help at the desk. The gentleman asked me what I was looking for, then he showed me some different plants and explained about them. At one point I asked if there were any information sheets about the plants but he said no. I then asked if he could at least write down the name of the plants that I was going to purchase so I could look them up (there were no names on the pots--no signs), and he said, "No, I'm not going to do that." He kind of chuckled and said the plants were very easy. Because I have aphasia, and my main issue is with auditory comprehension, a lot of what he explained to me about the plants went completely over my head. I just wanted to know the name of the plants so I could look them up, but I was not able to understand the information from him verbally. I needed it written down. Once I told him about my problem, he did say he would do that for me, but he never did do it so I just let it go. A year later, my plants are thriving, and he was right--these plants are easy to take care of. I guess it's not important to know the name of these plants, but his response when I originally asked gave me a bad feeling. That's not how you deal with your customers. read more

My customer service experience was terrible horrible. They charged my card and called me and stated my card declined so that they can charge it again. So I contacted my bank and my bank stated that company was trying to charge multiple times without my authorization and it was flagged as fraud. So I called the company back and they yelled and argued with me over the to make it seemed like my card declined because I didn't have funds. I feel they allegedly lied and they didn't want to deliver the item to this particular address for personal reasons. I feel like they were trying to get more money out of me. They even declined on speaking with my bank on a third party call and that was suspicious to me. I may need to file a police report against this company. We are new to the area and stumbled upon Johnson's Gardens! We started a herb and vegetable garden and needed plants for our front flower planter. We are not green thumbs and are true beginners. Their knowledge and willing to help is amazing and appreciated. I love that they took the stress of gardening perfect out of the process. We have really bad soil and aways have 100 questions when we shop. There is always someone there answering our novice questions and giving us knowledge. My husband and I used Johnson's Gardens for our wedding and we very impressed! They guided us through the process at our consultation. We didn't know much about flowers so all we told them was that we wanted sunflowers and catnip and they did the rest! They even grew the catnip for us. I really appreciated how they didn't try to oversell to us to get more money. The Johnsons looked at our venues and told us they were decorated enough that they didn't think we needed any additional decorations unless we wanted them. We ended up getting just bouquets, boutonnières, a ring pillow, and baskets with petals for the flower girls. Everything was to our satisfaction and we would recommend johnsons gardens to fellow brides and grooms. read more

I hate that I have to give this review but "please beware of owner" should be the first thing told to anyone that's looking to use the "company" if that's what you want to call it. only reason I say I say I hate to leave this review is because the work I have had done here was top notch but..... this Valentine's day I ordered an arrangement to be delivered. I requested for it to be delivered before 2 pm as that's when the recipient will get getting ready to leave. I got a phone call around 130ish that said "I'm so sorry but we didn't put your order on the morning truck so I can't get it there before 2, I asked if they could do 3 and the lady said yes sir not a problem at all. well to keep this from being a novel the flowers showed up around 330 and the owner after talking pure trash to my wife on the phone told the driver to remove the personalized card and just leave the flowers for employees, to which the employees that were left said we don't want them from this guy the way he talked to my wife on the phone. While on the phone with this guy my wife was told that they were very busy because it was a holiday and we are not the only people with orders, and it was also said that he hates dealing with "YOU PEOPLE" whatever that means, she was also told that if SHE wanted a refund, SHE could show her face at the store. what husband would send his wife to a store to see a rude and very hateful man by herself... not this one... so I decided to show my face at the store the next day. when I got to the store the next morning, he was all smiles until he realized who I was then his whole mood changed I asked for my refund to witch he said I sent that in yesterday I'll give you a receipt then he asked why I was upset he didn't talk bad to either one of us. I then asked him to give my wife a call and apologize for the way it was handled which he did, and I respect him for that much. but to end everything he told me to never order from them again and never come back (not a problem) as I was walking out his goon who I'm guessing was his son being this is a family fun place proceeds to give and a very smart "have a great day" with a chuckle I used a few choice words I shouldn't have to witch he says "yep, that's something you people would say". so, I will never go back to this "business" if you can call it that just because of the owner's attitude and the son's mouth, and just the amount of disrespect that was shown. read more

Needed a flower arrangement sent to a friend in the hospital. I called and found the delivery truck was one foot out the door for the last run of the day. They stopped , fulfilled my request in record time and delivered the stunning (very last minute ) arrangement to a very pleased patient! Talk about service! AND they did it with a pleasant demeanor and "customer satisfaction first" attitude. Afterwards, I mentioned it to some Suffolk locals and they ALL praised this florist/ garden center. Very disappointed with the flower arrangement sent to my brother in the hospital. The lillies were so over powering in fragrance he had​ to put them in the bathroom. I specifically asked for fall flowers, no lillies. The arrangement included roses, carnations mostly lillies and mum's not wild flowers. I could have picked this arrangement up from Walmart. It is not about a refund of money it is having the flowers delivered on time and as payed for to a very special man in my life. read more

I just called from California and spoke to Tim to order flowers for my uncle's funeral. He was so kind and helpful! In less than a 3 minute phone call he was able to assure me he would arrange a nice centerpiece for the reception table to be delivered to the church for les than $50. Now, not only do Mr. & Mrs. Johnson's son's and Daughter-in-Law run the business, their Grandchildren have been very involved also.
