This is my favorite bar because of the people here. I've had both J and Hannah serve me and both have made me feel so comfortable. After being here a half full of times, I can genuinely say this is the best dive bar on the street purely on the customer service. Subtract 4 stars if you are a racist, transphobic, or homophobic. The Nest is a welcoming place for all people but they also have a short fuse for bullshit. People of all gender identities and sexual preference are welcome and celebrated, but discrimination is not. The crowd is super friendly and welcoming and if you are by yourself chances are you will be invited to sit at a table with folks. The most recent one-star review is someone who has been 86'd from other local establishments for her racist and transphobic views. Remember, if you are in an establishment that has pride flags including trans flags, its the wrong place to make disparaging remarks about something you don't understand. And certainly don't make racist comments towards an establishment where POC are employed. The sign "Don't be a *ick" actually means "Don't be a *ick". They take their signs seriously :) read more

This was a fun and cozy little bar on Belmont! I loved that they had a photo booth inside and it even had their bar logo on the bottom of the strip, so it made for a fun memory. The pool and ping pong tables were being used for the 1+ hours that we were there. People just hogged the tables and didn't leave. Maybe there should be a time limit on how long they can be there so others can use it too. Drinks were average price and there was a lot of space in the patio to hang out. There were heaters outside too and it was a chilly day, so it was nice to keep warm outside! One of the heaters started making a loud noise that sounded like something was about to be electrocuted, so maybe someone should check that out? read more

The Nest Lounge is one the cutest dive bars on Belmont. They have a great outdoor patio for those warm summer nights. Upstairs you will find some intimate seating and on the third level there is a pool table. Staff is friendly and drinks were good. I had the Hank Collins which had yummy grapefruit in it. There is street parking. You typically can find a spot and maybe just have to walk a little. read more

The main floor is the bar area, the basement is the drinking and ping pong table, with a photo booth. Top floor is a hang out with pool table, and some board games. The entire place is pretty dark, exactly how every grungy Portland bar is like. I felt very cramped and annoyed because every time my group and I wanted to play ping pong or pool, we couldn't because everyone else was hogging them. Literally, all night long. My family and I love the Nest. We started frequenting the Nest when we found out they host incredible drag shows there. The menu is simple and tasty. The drinks are great and the bartenders are always attentive. Thank you Nest Lounge for opening your space for Producers like Sativa GD Jones, Ellie LeBlunt, Carmen and Kisses Major Ash to be able to bring in incredible queer talent. The entire line up of weekly drag shows and trivia at the Nest are the highlight of my week consistently. Cant wait for BAWDY to start up in September! This is a horrible place. I went in here to get a couple drinks with some friends and the medium blonde bartender on Thursday the 5th at 12:20am turned us away. She said she saw my friends "stumbling" out of the car and wasn't comfortable serving us. My friend has autism and has a hard time walking straight, this offended us extremely. We hadn't been drinking all night. I asked for a manager and she said she was a manager, I don't believe her. I am trying to get in contact with the owner. This place is my friends "Cheers". She lives around the corner and comes here all the time, and got me to come with her twice now. Both times were very chill and we were able to just talk and drink, without too much noise or club crowds. I did not partake in the activities (pool, ping pong or bingo) but maybe in the summer, after a little day drinking, I can be convinced to hang downstairs with other locals and see how good (or bad) I am at table sports. The atmosphere is really zen and the bar has multi-level layout is so unique and interesting. I ordered local craft beers both times, and we sat upstairs in the "nest" but come summer, I switch it up and order cocktails on the patio down below. I wish my neighborhood had more pubs and restaurants within walking distance. The friend who brought me here has a large selection but this is her preferred pub. I can see why. read more

It was a good night to head out for a drink, we were actually looking for just a hole-in-the wall place and according to my brother, the older version of this place was just that. This place was not. Much better than expected. It most likely is an old house that they converted to the current establishment. Went out for my friends birthday. We are all 21-23. Went up to the bar and got ignored for 10 mins. I'm not exaggerating. The male bartender with dark long hair was bartending. He checked my ID and bent it a lot. Ok, fine. Checked my friends ID and immediately said it was fake. Ok, it's him when he's 16, fair. My friend said it wasnt fake, and instead of asking him about the information on the card, or even just asking us to leave cordially, he started yelling at us and then everyone else in the bar started too. He passed his ID to someone random in the bar and she joined in saying how fake it was and then everyone promptly started yelling at us about our clothing and to get out. We immediately called the police who did not show up, so we were outside from 10:30-1am waiting for them. My friend finally went inside and asked them for it back and told them he called the cops and had been waiting for around 2 hours. He apologized and gave it back. worst service i've ever received in my life, i came here with my friends for my 22nd birthday and they accused my friend of having a fake ID and refused to listen to him or any of us. he then took his ID and refused to give it back. his ID happens to be his driver's license and since he was our driver we are all stuck here until the police get here. read more

This review is based on the owners. We were in the back patio and started to cheer at midnights because my boyfriend just turned 30. The owners were apparently sitting a a table behind us and immediately started to yell at us to shut up. We had not been loud at all prior to this and cheered for a few seconds to celebrate a birthday.The owner then felt the need to come over and get aggressive right in my friends face because she did an extra cheer. Loved the outdoor comedy show and drinks a few weeks ago! When calling tonight to ask if there was another outdoor, social distanced, masked show soon, the woman I spoke to YELLED, "there's no shows because there is a GLOBAL PANDEMIC in case you didn't know!!" And then hung up. Like okay, well you had one five days ago, so not the craziest question. I've worked in the service industry for years and cannot imagine speaking to a customer like that. The nest was a place that I really liked before. The people at this establishment seemed to be very likable and I quickly became a regular. Then one day, I asked some of the users of their ping pong table how much longer they would be playing. I thought this was a fair question because everyone should be allowed to use the games at a bar when the games are not reserved by the hour. This white couple seemed to be threatened by me (a person of color) and I was immediately "86ed" from the bar without even a moment to explain myself. I was shocked with how an establishment could be so insensitive; especially in the wake of the Starbucks debacle. They've only been open 3 months, but come this summer it will blow up. Limited food, but decent drinks. This is a great place to hang with friends. Free pool every day until 7pm! Really unique place. It's like being at some sort of laid back house party. Tons of little nooks and areas to hang out. Some games, some couches, but mostly all very chill. You walk up the stairs and you enter the broom room with a copper bar and a sweet bartender. Sometimes sassy, but usually and mostly always sweet and polite (hard to come by these days). They have amazing cocktails, cheap too (avg - $7). There's a cucumber infused vodka and it is refreshing and light. In the back, there is a ping-pong table and more tables. If you keep going, a fenced-in patio with picnic tables and umbrellas. Upstairs there is a pool table and a little hang out lounge. It gets busy on the weekends. Even during the week, there's a buzz. The crowd is eclectic and changing. I've never had a bad experience. It's one of those bars that is chill to start getting drunk, being drunk, and ending drunk. read more

Discovered this place about 6 weeks ago with my friends. Liked a lot about it, ping pong, open mic, etc, but we won't be returning after the way we were treated last night. One of my friends, who was quite sober, was cut off by the bartender (female, 40s, bleach blonde) Worse, the bartender loudly and repeatedly asked my friend where she lived and how she was getting home. She continued this even after she was told we were together and planned to uber. Clearly she wanted to embarrass my friend and had no interest in her safety. A nice evening was ruined by a petty jealous rude bartender. read more

Tonight was my first night at The Nest. It's a lovely venue with a fantastic staff. As it turns out, there was an unfortunate incident that arose. This particular night was a fundraiser, and the group organizing it put together a beer pong tournament where customers could buy in to play for a jackpot. The issue arose when our team sunk the middle cup first. What we were not made aware of is a rule called "bitch cup". The "bitch cup" rule stipulates that the team members who sunk that middle cup first must then continue to play the game with their pants around their ankles. Or if you're female, you may expose your breasts, instead of dropping your pants. I was horrifed. The guy running the tournament insisted the rule be followed. I had to walk away from my $20 DONATION to play just to avoid public humiliation. I was even told "You can be a bitch and walk away." "Go ahead and be a hero" "Anyone who's ever played beer pong knows these rules." These rules were not posted in any way, and I've personally never heard of these rules. To be honest, if I had known the rules upfront, I would have still elected play AND to follow those rules. However, I wasn't given that information or that option. I was, however, made to look like a fool for not knowing that rule. I was made to look like a "bitch" for not following that rule. The Nest still gets 5 stars from me because the staff's customer service was top-notch. They also dealt with the issue immediately after being notified. A big thank you to The Nest for taking action to keep myself and others safe from unforeseen public humiliation. read more

Cool place bit the bartender was awful. She was offensive to my boyfriend and unapologetically messed up our drink order. I tipped less than usual because she was so rude. I sat upstairs with some friends and a few minutes later she actually came upstairs and found me and informed me that I was cut off (it was our1st drink) and that neither I nor my friends were ever welcomed back because I didn't tip enough. I think this was a bit overboard and she seemed like she wanted a reaction out of me. Anywho, if that dyed red haired lady wasn't there, I'm sure it would've been a pleasant experience.
