The Nest Lounge is one the cutest dive bars on Belmont. They have a great outdoor patio for those warm summer nights. Upstairs you will find some intimate seating and on the third level there is a pool table. Staff is friendly and drinks were good. I had the Hank Collins which had yummy grapefruit in it. There is street parking. You typically can find a spot and maybe just have to walk a little.

we love the nest! favorite bar ever

Another great local spot suggested by a friend who lives in Portland! Great, cheap drinks, games for entertainment, multiple levels of indoor hangout as well as an outdoor patio. Chips and salsa is cheap and big in portion (shared amongst 5-6 of us!), they also have other bar snacks which is so important when imbibing for a few hours. We rode bikes here so parking was't an issue :D

That is, until you turn your attention to the wedge of a jojo next to that beautiful wet-tshirt-contest winner. And by wedge, I mean you could park a god damned RV on the bank-iest bank of the Willamette, put one of these under a rear wheel, throw the RV in neutral, and open a trampoline park inside. If you canceled the lease on Playdate PDX and are reading this, don't steal my idea, you prick. Anyway, I digress. Potato jojo wedge. Back to it. I brought home some as leftovers three months ago and my eight year old is still tunneling through them like she's a mole dropped into some f-ed version of Candy Land. Look, I know the fine bartenders here promise chicken and jojos the same way cable promises service: it'll arrive somewhere between the hours of 6 and 10:00 PM. But sit your ass in the chair, get a PBR and wait. Because, much like the bygone era of cable, when the boob shows up uncensored, late at night, and wrapped seductively in paper and BBQ sauce (don't judge me! You tuned in too!), you weren't thinking of the guy with the extra long butt crack and ill fitting button up. Oh no, my friend, you were thinking about the sauce. BBQ, ranch, sweet chili, . . . or ketchup (you immature shit).

My friends were at the bar and I managed to get a seat next to them. I was smart to ask my friend to place a food order since they are known for hot fried food to take their time. I ordered a drink and caught up with my friends. There were complimentary treats which I gladly enjoyed. Once my food arrived, I enjoyed the jo jo's with buffalo dipping sauce as my go to. The fried chicken hits the spot and the staff is very friendly. It was great seeing 2 people working instead of just 1 person doing everything. My order was affordable too once I closed my tab. Old Portland for the win once again and will continue to support, cheers!

Two restrooms available. Seating inside and outside Service was good as they did warn us the food would take a while with the small crowd hanging out. The "chicken tendies" were SO GOOD. Three big pieces with the perfect crunch. I got franks hot sauce and blue cheese as the dip. I'll probably get two of Franks hot sauce next time. They tasted like quality chicken that was juicy and perfectly cooked. The fries came with it and they were on the salty side but not bad. Definitely would return for the chicken tenders! I believe it was around $12 but the pieces were big and just amazing to eat fresh and hot!

What you have to turn a blind eye to: 1. Bathrooms are not pretty. 2. It's a local crowd feel and they'll get to you but take a load off and be patient. The grilled cheese is worth the order and the Bloody Mary was pretty good. But dive bars aren't my first choice most of the time. However, I had occasion to stop by recently and actually really enjoyed the space. It's large and dim inside, with red felt cushioned booths, an awesome fire pit, and some retro and mildly scandalous art. There is a huge lovely patio that doesn't feel like you're as close to busy Belmont as you are. I got fried pickles and a diet coke for my short visit. Most of the menu is fried/salty bar food - burgers, hot dogs, fries, etc. They've got happy hour that offers a few bucks off certain items. Overall this seems like the type of place that people would lament if it were to close. So go out and support a neighborhood bar while it's here!
