I'm always excited to try a spot out. A friend was in from out of town and set us all up to meet at happy hour here. I am just grateful they decided that the interior was too loud so they were all outside. To get into the bar and order anything means you have to walk up a very steep staircase. I figured I would just wait to beg someone to order something but no one ever came out. My friend said he felt terrible too since another friend could not come at all since he is in a wheelchair. I came here to see a comedy show on a Monday night in their basement. It is $10 cover cash or venmo. There is plenty of seating downstairs but you might not be able to see the comedians on stage. Slightly annoying but double. The cocktails were hit or miss. I got a not so spicy paloma and a mule. Next time I want to stop by and check out the upstairs so I can play some pool. I am finally getting around to writing this review. I visited The Goodfoot on 3/25/2024 after placing a takeout order for pork shoulder nachos and chicken tenders. I am bummed about my experience and elaborate on the highs (ambiance) and lows (over cooked food; hair in it) below. When entering the restaurant, I noticed that it had a chill vibe with cool art on the walls (for sale), a couple pool tables, and pub style seating. There weren't many people there at that time but you can imagine that there may be a crowd on event nights. The food was not enjoyable that day (first time coming). The pork shoulder nachos and chicken tenders had meat that was over cooked (dry) and the ranch that came with the tenders had hair in it. I provided a picture of the receipt to confirm the order took place along with a picture of the ranch with hair in it. **Mistakes happen and I am unable to return (out of state) so I was hoping that the meal could be remedied with a refund. We showed up around 11:30 and went to the basement to dance and have drinks! The crowd was welcoming, drinks were strong and music was good! You had to pay a cover charge but it was well worth it! good experience inside, but when we went outside to WAIT FOR AN UBER at the unoccupied business next to good foot, the bounces started harassing us to leave and kicked our friends costume, MEANWHILE it's pouring with rain. We move over to the side of the building and the one bouncer brought up she's "part native" so we couldn't sit near the gas tank area which has nothing to do with anything. We came to the Goodfoot for their weekly soul night. I liked the venue and it was only a $5 cover. It was pretty empty when we came around 9:30pm, but it filled up by 11pm. It's a good space for dancing and the bar is a little bit away from the dance floor which makes it easier to get in and hear. There's also chairs and booths around the perimeter. They have a cocktail menu based on house infused liquors. I had a cucumber gin and tonic as well as a coffee infused whiskey drink. The coffee whiskey one was terrible, but the gin and tonic was okay. I think I would stick to beer here though, since the cocktails are pretty simple and hit or miss (my friends tried some others and didn't love them either). Bathrooms were clean (two stalls for women) and never that crowded. There's an upstairs lounge/bar with pool tables and tons of art on the wall - we came here for a bit before doors downstairs opened. It's also nice that The Goodfoot is next to Baby Doll pizza. You can always sober up after a night of dancing and drinking. read more

I have always come here a bit tipsy looking for a dance floor. A few times they have had live music and other times it has been a dj. I prefer the live music, but the djs are decent too. Most of the times they play oldies and funky jazzy dance tunes. The bar is a decent distance from the dance floor. There is always a line formed at the bar, which is strangely a Portland thing. SO if you see a line at the bar, get in it, don't walk up to the bar or be prepared for some bitch looks from bartenders and patrons alike...I wonder if they know the rest of the world does not form lines at bars. They have some decent beers in the beer cooler and on tap. I always drink Sessions beer when I come here. I don't see it in many bars in Portland. This is a good lively place if you are looking to cut a rug and have some late night drinks! Oh and there is generally a cover so bring cash! read more

This has been a classic go-to place for me for years. I've seen live funk jazz and had many a date night or ladies evening or birthday shaking my thang here through the years. It's a small place with decent drinks and good people watching. It's Portland so you get people showing up decked out next to people in tie dye T-shirts and Chacos. Went this past Friday night and was a bit disappointed. At 10, the dance floor looked like a middle school dance floor: empty. The DJ was supposedly a regular, but the tired playlist and the low volume and the awkward pauses between songs made us feel like we were at a wedding reception. We stayed dancing for a few hours because we really wanted to move, and we kept hoping each song would get better. It didn't, sadly. We eventually left. Bummer. I'll be back, and try again. This place is fantastic, and i feel like there is something here to please just about anybody. The upstairs has several pool tables and a decent selection of pinball games in order to provide entertainment while you enjoy your tasty adult beverage. If you are not an active drinker then there are quite a few cozy booths and tables to hull up with a group of friends. On certain nights the downstairs hosts some great music and dancing. Typically the cover charge is super reasonable. The Goodfoot is home to "Soul Stew", which they claim is Portland's longest running DJ dance night. The music is typically of the soul, funk, R&B in nature and made even better by the fact that the DJs are spinning actual records, not using computers. They have plenty of beers on tap, several hard ciders, and a full bar. Food is available upstairs and can be brought to the downstairs section if you wish. I advise getting there early to snag a table for when you need a rest from dancing. I am all about the Goodfoot!! I had no idea this place was a great music venue for local bands. The sound quality is awesome! I ventured out here a few weeks back to see the Polyrhythmics (afro-funk, based from Seattle, check 'em out!) and it was fantastic - and that is an understatement folks! The upstairs and downstairs are as different as night and day. If you want a cup of joe it is located upstairs only, had to learn the hard way on that one. I would hate to see the downstairs during the light of day (only because the seats/booths look tattered and frayed) but luckily they're only open during the evening hours. The restrooms are super clean, water is easily accessible, and beautiful art is plastered all over the walls. Needless to say, the Goodfoot Lounge is a great place to get your dance on and see some live music. read more

The Goodfoot is a clean dive and a dirty dive. But it is not really a dive in that it doesn't have a diverse crowd. More beardy dready concentration than most spots. Upstairs is the cleaner, more well lit, spacious bar with pool tables and art on the wall. Sandwich meals. There are booths and tables by the several pool tables for friends to gather in groups. Downstairs is the dirty friendly dive with music, often with a cover. Music starts later and goes way later. Get foods up stairs or next door. They have funk DJ's, live funky rock, Afrobeat. It has dank carpets, funky restrooms and worn seats. But they do have a hardwood dance floor that gets used and is often packed. Sometimes even a cypher will break out to the side on the carpet. It can get very sweaty, seek out the zones with ventilation if you are steaming, or chill outside and chat. If there was a fire, everyone would die escaping. True mark of a dive. But the crowd doesn't seem to mind. The Goodfoot has an art program, opening shows of paintings, drawings and prints for sale upstairs every last Thursday of the month. It's urban, outsider, and pop surrealism --style, and inexpensive. Primarily Portland artists. They cover a huge amount of wall space, it can be visually overwhelming! My Darling Husband and myself like to play Pool at The Goodfoot. I do not remember if my Husband liked the Cheeseburger that I bought for him.... because it's been so long ago since we were here. I ate my Cheeseburger with Swiss Cheese... it was taaasty. There was some art on the walls, and I remember walking around the room looking at most of it. It was interesting art as well... the art made me think about projects that I wanted to work on at our Condominium. We did not stay for the Music in the Downstairs part of The Goodfoot.
