We're there for Wings & Whiskey Wednesday and it's amazing. Their wings were easily the best I've had. Crispy, fresh, toasted in their creative weekly sauce. Also for $8/6 wings. A little more of a lounge vibe, this bar offers some tempting drinks and bites. We had the tiny version of a boozy pineapple whip smoothie and it was incredible! Likely changes flavors in the machine. It was the perfect complement to a smash burger and fries, which had so much potential. Sadly, both our bottom buns were pretty wet. As far as modern neighborhood dive bars go, this might be the best of the best. The adorable exterior of Moonshot is welcoming, and the large patio and outdoor seating areas make enjoying this fantastic street corner perfect. The team does not do table service, so head inside first and review the menus before ordering with a server. We all decided to order the same drinks, which were full of pineapple, rum, and tropical goodness in one of the largest non-beer glasses I have ever seen. We made our ways back outside, and found a good table to chill. The crowds were out, so there was some fantastic people watching, conversations, and laughs for our crew as we caught up. Just be careful to sit in the correct licensed area, since some patios are reserved for other businesses. It does get chilly and windy when the sun goes down, so bring layers if you plan to enjoy these summer evenings. If I were local to this area, you would absolutely catch me back here more often. read more

Upon walking in we doubted we would be able to find a spot to sit but soon discovered they had more seating down a few steps past the bathrooms--plus pinball machines! You do need to order at the bar but it's easy to do so at the far end. We settled on the coquito (think coconut egg nog) and it had the most decadent hint of pistachio. It was so deliciously dangerous we wished we could've had four more! Wow! A must stop in PDX! we've been coming here for a bit but for cocktails only and the food is absolutely incredible! I think their double smash burger is the best in the city. Hands down. The service is 10/10 top notch, the staff is awesome. Friendly and attentive! The ambiance is awesome, tons of bar seating, tables in the middle and boots. There's shaded outdoor seating as well. I had a delicious and ice cold martini and the space was full of relaxing booths and a Portland vibe. They offer some drafts for $5 as well and house cocktails for $10. Such a cool spot! Taco Tuesdays, killer cocktails, and pinball in the back. Wish I lived in the neighborhood so I could visit more often. I ordered the 3 for $12 taco deal and every single one of them was amazing. The fried chicken was definitely a fav, and they're a decent size too. Their Christmas cocktail list was really unique. I got the pistachio eggnog one and it blew my mind. Classic eggnog was also very good. I like that this spot was immediately on the holiday cheer the first week of December. They even got a Real Christmas tree! Absolutely wonderful place and very friendly bartenders. Will be coming back for sure, especially Tuesdays. read more

This was our go-to spot back when it was Goose, and even after Moonshot Tavern took over, it still holds a special place. We've only stopped by for drinks before dinner, but it's always been a great experience. They have plenty of seating, both inside and out (perfect for when the weather's nice). Our drink of choice is the Port of Oregon-- a fantastic bourbon cocktail that's both strong and smooth. The mix of hazelnut, blackberry, and fig is right up my alley. Really cool neighborhood bar with amazing food! I came on a Sunday night and ordered a local draft beer from their extensive list and some hush puppies, which had a nice smoky flavor and perfect texture. I love that they serve food late, too. Great concept, well executed! This would definitely be my regular spot if I lived in the area. read more

Went last night on my birthday. It was 90 degrees outside and close to that inside, I guess no AC? Music was loud but we could still hear each other until it was cranked up halfway through our meal so it meant it was hard to hear each other. Food: Barbecue Shrimp - tasty sauce, way over cooked shrimp came with cornbread instead of baguette even though we didn't ask for a substitution. Hard to soak up the sauce w cornbread. Asparagus - asparagus was super tasty with light smokiness. The egg however was raw. Not soft, the white of the egg was runny. Disappointing. Iceberg salad - the lettuce was not crisp, it was limp like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. Otherwise it was super flavorful. So not sure if I would return here. read more

10 out of 10 neighborhood bar/restaurant. The drinks are perfect and the food is so delicious! I have tried most of their menu and the pot roast with grits is a hug on a plate, pure comfort. All of the people that work at Moonshot are awesome too. A perfect place to meet up with friends! read more

We went her hoping for a better than average local bar experience. I think the intentions are good, the interior design better than usual, however the food was mostly average. The fish sandwich tasted just a bit better than a McDonald's Filet-o-Fish (maybe that's the point?), the pasta had a wonderful piece of steelhead however the pasta itself was fairly dull. The seasonal salad however was perfect; the ingredients were typical for an Oregon seasonal salad (fresh greens. goat cheese and hazelnuts) and the dressing was perfect (just enough vinegar) which somewhat made up for the rest of the food. Skip the custom Moscow Mules unless you like super sweet drinks. The service was perfunctory and friendly in a subtle way. read more
